Seaman Apprentice Luke Emmanuel, a native of Boynton Beach, Florida, serves in the U.S. Navy assigned to USS Harry S. Truman, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier operating out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Emmanuel graduated from Auburn High School in 2024.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Boynton Beach.

“I learned early on that you have to be okay with change and be able to adapt to your environment to the best of your ability,” Emmanuel said.

Emmanuel joined the Navy eight months ago.

“I joined the Navy to have structure and to build a beautiful foundation for my future family,” Emmanuel said. “I also want to inspire my younger brothers to go out and be a part of something bigger than themselves.”

Prominent Urogynecologist Peter Rosenblatt, MD Joins Holy Cross Medical Group South Florida Urogynecologist Peter Rosenblatt, M.D. has joined Holy Cross Medical Group, a multispecialty physician-employed group of more than 180 physicians providing services throughout Broward County.

He brings 35 years of subspecialty experience in treating pelvic floor prolapse, overactive bladder and incontinence issues, common conditions that are often a source of embarrassment and cause women to suffer in silence.

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the muscles and tissues that support the uterus, bladder and rectum weaken or loosen, and gravity causes the organs to drop. Women are fre-

“My goal is to make our patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns and become part of the decision-making process since there are often many different solutions to pelvic floor disorders,” Dr. Rosenblatt assured. “I am excited to work in the same community in which I now live and provide high-quality care for women in the area. I can already feel the commitment of the staff to providing care for patients of all denominations and for those who are underprivileged or disadvantaged.”

Dr. Rosenblatt is an expert in performing laparoscopic reconstructive surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and minimally invasive surgery for urinary and fecal incontinence. He has also developed innovative surgeries for fecal incontinence using a mesh sling and pelvic organ prolapse without the need for hysterectomy. Additional con-

Encouraging Creativity In The Age Of AI (Feature Impact)

In an era when machines can generate ideas in seconds, hands-on learning and creativity may be more important for today’s children than ever. In fact, due to the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), 73% of parents believe creativity is an essential trait for their children to develop.

This finding comes from a survey commissioned by Crayola and conducted by Talker Research of 2,000 U.S. parents of children ages 8-12, along with children in that same age range. The survey also revealed the impact of technological advances, such as AI, on how parents nurture their kids’ creativity and how kids and parents view AI differently.

While parents worry about what skills kids may lose due to AI usage, children themselves are more focused on what technology could unlock and seem to be far more optimistic about the impact of AI. According to the study, 35% of parents said they worry AI will reduce their child’s ability to think creatively and 30% fear it will compete with them, limiting their opportunities in the workforce. In contrast, only 22% of kids share their parents’ concerns about AI hurting their creative thinking abilities and only 21% fear job competition.

Consider these additional trends identified in the survey.

Kids Crave Hands-On Creativity Despite growing up in a digital-first world, the children surveyed expressed a strong desire to engage in hands-on creative experiences. When they make something by hand, they’re more likely to preserve it (46%), display it at home (68%) or give it as a gift (48%), turning creativity into something tangible, lasting and meaningful.

The children surveyed also said they want adults to ask for their creative ideas and listen to them (52%), provide supplies for creating (51%), encourage problemsolving (47%) and give them more time to create (46%).

Feedback Provides Motivation Creativity flourishes when adults praise young artists for their effort, ideas and decision-making rather than judging how “good” the art looks, the survey found.

You’re not imagining it - like many goods and services, pet care costs have gone up. In fact, Healthy Paws Pet Insurance reported a 38% increase in pet services over the past five years with pet parents spending more than $4,200 a year on routine expenses for a cat or dog.

Lots of factors are driving increased costs, from higher ingredient prices for pet food - like meat and grains - to veterinary drug shortages. Add in rising labor and transportation costs and those everyday expenses can start to take a bigger bite out of your budget.

There are simple ways to keep costs in check, however, while still giving your furry friends the care they deserve: 1. Prioritize Preventive Care Routine checkups, vaccinations and screenings can catch health issues early when they are easier and less expensive to treat. Most pets should see a veterinarian at least once a year, while puppies, kittens and senior pets may need more frequent visits.

Preventive medications play an important role as well. Treating Heartworm Disease, for example, can cost thousands while monthly prevention costs $15-$30.

3. Find Support in Your Community Many local humane societies and rescue groups offer resources that make pet care more accessible, including low-cost vaccinations, spay and neuter services and discounted supplies.

The PetSmart CharitiesGallup State of Pet Care research revealed 52% of pet parents skipped or declined veterinary care services in 2025, with the majority citing cost as the key barrier.

Most policies reimburse a percentage of covered veterinary costs after you meet a deductible, helping offset unexpected bills. Plans vary, but average monthly premiums are around $60 for dogs and $30 for cats.

A Companion Through It All A devastating cancer diagnosis left Lois hospitalized for eight months.

Walkers are welcome at all of the Elite Events! There is a 3.5 hour time limit for the half marathon. After 3.5 hours, the course will open up to traffic. At that point, you must obey all traffic laws as if you were a pedestrian. You will still receive your finisher medal as long as you are close to finishing after the 3.5 hour time limit. Police, Volunteers, and Race Crew will be dismissed after 3.5 hours. All of the finish line and event equipment will be cleaned up after 3.5 hours.

Steiger comes to Barry University from Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where he spent nearly two decades helping guide the financial strategy and operations of one of the nation’s largest public school districts. As Chief Financial Officer, he oversaw a $7.4 Billion budget and led work across finance, budgeting, treasury, procurement, risk management, grants, payroll and compliance.

How Women Can Optimize Health To Combat Cardiovascular Disease (Feature Impact)

Rethinking Career Decisions: Why College Is No Longer The Unquestioned Path (Feature Impact)

While college remains a popular path, 26% of adults surveyed said certifications or skills-based programs are the safer choice.

For generations, students have been told a college degree is key to landing a well-paying job and building a stable future. Long treated as the gold standard for post-secondary education, albeit an expensive one, the four-year degree is no longer the unquestioned path to career success. New research from the U.S. Career Institute, an online career training provider, suggests many Americans are rethinking what education and long-term job security actually look like. While college remains a popular path, 26% of adults surveyed said certifications or skills-based programs are the safer choice. Just 18% said the same about a four-year degree. In fact, if given the chance to do it all over again, 27% of respondents said they would choose a different path entirely, and 33% said they would look for something faster or more affordable. Knowing what they know now, just 17% reported they would make the same choice again; meaning more U.S. adults are now willing to ask if college is the right call.

Cost is Getting Harder to Ignore Long sold as an investment that would pay for itself in time, the price tag that accompanies that college degree is increasingly scrutinized. While 38% of survey respondents said paying for college feels like a necessary investment despite the expense, 29% said they question whether it’s a worthwhile expenditure.

What’s more, 32% of respondents said they would reconsider investing in a college education if student loan debt exceeded $10,000, even as the price of obtaining a degree continues to climb.

AI is Leading to Job Security Concerns The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence is adding another layer of uncertainty. In fact, 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. believe office-based and white-collar workers are the type of employees most likely to be replaced by AI in the next five years. As automation becomes a bigger part of

workplace conversations, it’s also influencing how people think about their futures, with more than half (54%) of respondents reconsidering their education or career path due to concerns about job security or automation. For some, that reconsideration is already translating into action. A quarter of respondents (25%) have already completed a certificate or skills-based training program while another 29% said they’ve seriously considered pursuing one.

Stability is Taking Center Stage Prestige, job title and earning potential have long influenced post-secondary education choices. However, stability has become the most commonly cited factor influencing career decisions today, named by 53% of respondents, ranking it above prestige and status.

Invitation From The Consul General Of Israel In Miami To Go On A Mission To Israel With European & North American Mayors - Part III

This is Part III of the Mission to Israel After we toured the bomb site in the city of Ramat Gan, we headed to Jerusalem. The first stop was Yad Vashem Holocaust Remembrance Center. I have had the honor of visiting the center three times. You can actually spend days at the center. The main exhibit and the surrounding building were designed by world-famous Moishe Safdie. The building is shaped in the form of a triangular prism.

You enter into a world of darkness, and as you walk from room to room you cross over a main corridor that lights dramatically to the floor below.

The most famous room is the Hall of Names. This cone-shaped, 9-meter-high houses all the known names of Holocaust survivors. There is a matching bottom of the cone where you look down into the bedrock. This symbolizes all the unknown victims.

Multiple exhibits take the visitors through all aspects of the Holocaust.

Hitler’s rise to power, propagandized antisemitism, the work camps, death camps, the war and the liberation. It is

truly the main reason these missions are so important. Non Jews and Jews alike can learn the true history of the holocaust and the Jewish people. Their strength and resilience through years of antisemitism and explosions from many countries. It also teaches those who visit the true nature and importance of the Jewish homeland, Israel.

From Yad Vashem we traveled to the Shalva Center. This world-renowned center was established to help people with disabilities. Ironically, the Ambassadors that lead our tour, Chaya and Chaim Bisker, used to have offices in Hallandale Beach. The couple gave birth to a daughter who had Autism. They found out about the center and now travel back and forth from Aventura to ensure their daughter has care to thrive.

This center has become a model for care and training. Doctors, students and caregivers from around the globe come to learn best practices. They serve all ages from birth to adulthood with the goal of inclusion and opportunity. The 220,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is equipped with an Olympic pool, gym-

nasium, auditorium, multiple age- and ability-appropriate playgrounds, cafeteria, art rooms, and roof meeting space.

It was founded by Rabbi Kalman Samuels, whose son was not born disabled but received his second dose of DTP vaccine that was manufactured improperly. Their son Yossi woke up blind the next day and lost his hearing. There were now schools for them in Israel. They left Israel for New York to The Lighthouse For the Blind for treatment.

There were many people who did not support their effort for a better life for Yossi. Many, including a prominent Rebbetzin, told Malki to move Yossi out of the house and care for her other children.

Malik and Kalman committed to caring for their child. They moved back to Israel, finding that they could only pursue legal action in Israel. Malki prayed to God that if you help get Yossi better, I will commit my life to caring for other children with disabilities.

They had what she referred to as a “Helen Keller” moment in Israel. A teacher who was deaf taught Yossi letters by hand. From there he took off and did not

stop learning and growing. Rabbi worked and applied to the Israeli government to help him create the center. It grew and grew, and now it is a beacon of hope for over 2,000 children.

They provide everything from physical therapy to cognitive education. Children receive education from birth all the way to adult vocational training. Their model provides service for the entire family. Mothers and fathers have an opportunity to receive emotional support and training. The center also allows parents to stay overnight.

In response to the growing iguana population and an increase in resident complaints, the City of Hollywood has contracted with a licensed wildlife trapping company to humanely remove iguanas from City-owned properties, parks, rights-of-way, and other public areas. This proactive effort helps protect public infrastructure, improve safety, and reduce the impact of invasive wildlife throughout the community.

Private property owners are also encouraged to take steps to help control the invasive population. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission recommends making properties less attractive to iguanas by removing food sources, eliminating potential nesting areas, filling burrows, and using humane trapping or removal methods when appropriate.

Residents may notice licensed wildlife trappers working throughout Hollywood.
