Created by a millennial, but loved by all ages is the trendy restaurant P.Pole Pizza. The beloved establishment puts your pizza passion to the test as you create your own pie to please your taste buds. This reimagined pizza chain is the answer to finding pies which cater to gluten free and organic tastes with a vast array of flavors and options. Opened in 2021 by franchise owner Anthony DiCarlo, the Hallandale Beach spot is P.Pole Pizza’s second location in the state of Florida. The original P.Pole Pizza in Coral Gables serves as a launching pad for the famous chain. It changed up the pizza industry with its rectangle-shaped servings and was all started by Parsons School of Design student, Giulia Carniato. Along with her father, Stefano Carniato, they revolutionized the way pies and slices were served. Customers from day one fell in love with the concept restaurant that is now expanding franchises across the USA. With three choices of dough, plus five sauces and over 50 toppings to choose from, you can enjoy mouth-
watering pizza in mere minutes – two minutes and five seconds, to be exact. And to add to the deliciously fun element is that pizzas are shaped in the form of a skateboard because it bakes faster in their new, cutting-edge oven where temperatures can reach as high as 800 degrees. “It’s all about the customers,” explains DiCarlo about giving customers the unique taste and look of pizza they crave. “Whatever they want on their pizzas, we got it for them.” It’s like taking a blank canvas and making an edible Mona Lisa. From tomato to spicy tomato, as well as alfredo, pesto and barbeque, plus seven types of cheese, including a vegan option, you can keep coming back to make all the combos you are craving. Different dough offerings include standard, chia seed infused, and even cauliflower, their gluten free option for people with allergies or those watching their weight. And tasty toppings include pepperoni, cheese, fresh spinach, artichokes, broccoli, grilled onions,
jalapeno, mushrooms, sweet peppers and anchovies, just to name a few. “Our pizzas are made fresh to order from scratch and are ready to eat in less than just three minutes. They’re
served piping hot and delicious,” states DiCarlo. Additionally, P.Pole gives customers the option of selecting one of their signature pizzas which are also baked in just over two minutes. Scrumptious signature pizza options include the American, Italian, Cuban, Veggie, Meat and Barbeque. And best of all you get healthy
options that all ages will love. This is not your old-school pizzeria. This is the future of food that will only get bigger and better over time. Customers can also order on the restaurants’ app and sign up for their rewards program. For every dollar spent, customers will earn a coin which accumulates over time so that pizza lovers can eventually use these coins towards purchases in the future. P.Pole Pizza has also announced that they will
be offering their own delivery services in the near future, but for now, customers can get their creative creations delivered via Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub. P.Pole Pizza 1113 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard Hallandale Beach, Florida 33009 954-510-9833

The STEM Factory: Opening Doors To Lifelong Learning & Success It’s said that a passionate teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill the love of learning. Mrs. Charmaine Silvas-Price does all that and more as the Executive Director of The STEM Factory After School Tutoring Programs & Camps, Inc. based in Hollywood, Florida. The program assists students in kindergarten through fifth grade with tutoring. “Reading and reading comprehension is the foundation of our program and what I do,” states Mrs. Charmaine. “A child must be able to not only read, but comprehend what is written to be successful.” The STEM Factory offers a hands-on, problem-solving approach which engages students by combining Montessori, traditional and a method that she calls “processing to channel STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning. A strong STEM education is recognized as a driver of lifelong learning and opportunity, opening the door for students to succeed in their future careers. My joy is watching them smile as they figure out solutions.” She, and her STEM Factory coaches, show that knowing how to teach children to learn, be confident and excel in life goes beyond their teaching degrees. For prospective students, a complimentary session is offered where the child participates in hands-on take away science experiences, teachable moments and socializes with other children in the program. An assessment, which includes questions below and at grade level, is then given to see if a child is working at grade level, or if there are lessons that were missed or not mastered in the previous grade. Parents are also empowered as Mrs. Charmaine teaches classes for parents– at no charge– on Saturdays and some evenings. Many parents struggle with the New Math, reading and reading comprehension. To overcome challenges, Mrs. Charmaine connects with their child’s teachers and obtains the lessons that will be taught in class. With all of her experience, certifications and skills, Mrs. Charmaine still goes to school—on behalf of the parents. She accompanies them to parent conferences so that she can hear what is going on academically and ask specific questions that a parent may not think to ask. She also checks in weekly
with teachers to see how each student is doing and gets the homework they need. When students arrive at The STEM Factory, homework is done before the tutoring sessions. All work is checked and initialed by a STEM Coach. Six STEM coaches to a maximum of 30 students, personal attention gets gold stars for greatness. Mrs. Charmaine traces her passion for education back to her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Albury, in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas where she was raised. Mrs. Albury left a lasting impression. “She would tell us it was ok to make mistakes and let’s fix it in a positive way.” That lesson has been carried on. Mrs. Charmaine uses a “no erasing” policy to help children succeed. “We don’t allow children in our program to erase a wrong answer. We put a line through it, see what was missed and correct it. If it is erased, we cannot learn from our mistakes.” After graduating from high school, Mrs. Charmaine took a job as a bank teller. But with her love for helping children learn and succeed, she knew she had to do something different. She started a preschool in her mom Michelle’s house in Nassau, Bahamas. Services included breakfast and transportation to help working families. Her father, Livingston, who was also an educator and a government administrator at the time, encouraged her to move to Florida to make an even greater impact. In Florida, Mrs. Charmaine applied her belief that knowledge is not power
if you don’t use what you learned, to key educational positions including curriculum director for a private school, nutritionist, staffing consultant and administrator. But to ensure no child is left behind, she needed to tutor and teach. She began by advertising her tutoring services on Craig’s List with the help of her husband, Charles “Charlie,” who she says is not only her best friend but #1 supporter and prayer warrior. “He keeps me grounded so that I get it right.” Her success blossomed into the STEM Factory, located at 6241 Pembroke Road in Hollywood, with a second location set to open by early June in Hallandale. She is also an approved vendor to offer services in Broward County Public Schools. Like learning, Mrs. Charmaine never stops. When the pandemic paused traditional teaching, she knew students would need her even more. She safely beat the challenges and kept connected with parents, students and their teachers to ensure learning would be seamless. “I win when my students win.” At The STEM Factory, every student crosses the finish line feeling confident. They are celebrated, especially every Friday at “happy hour.” Together, they talk about their week and each student is recognized for trying their best. Beyond books, personal interest and
caring builds hope and selfesteem. Parents say she is making a positive impact through one on one and group tutoring. Students agree. They proudly wear t-shirts she had made for them. Emblazoned on the front are the words, ‘I’m a big deal.” The back? “My friends are too.” That message can also be an answer to a question they are asked daily, “What is your life lesson for today? Life skills are a part of the STEM system, which goes beyond simple test performance and connects classroom learning to the real world. STEM focuses on the child as a whole. Students learn collaboration, communication, problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and other skills that are needed to be successful, survive and thrive in today’s world. At The STEM Factory, situations children may face are replicated and they learn how to respond calmly. For example, Mrs. Charmaine, a certified CPR instructor, ensures every child learns children’s CPR. This enabled a 10year-old student to save her grandmother’s life from a heart attack last year. Mrs. Charmaine and her teaching coaches are dedicated to ensuring our future leaders are prepared and feel empowered to turn challenges into rewarding opportunities. All children need to know that they can do it! This is where I come in,” says Mrs. Charmaine, who is the proud mother of two children, doting grandmother to Arielle and bonus mom of six. Not only is Mrs. Charmaine making a positive contribution and change in the community, so are her children. Her daughter Gianna is an herbalist and her son Algernon is a police officer. “All children deserve a good education and a fair shot in life no matter their ethnic backgrounds, race or abilities. This is my passion, my purpose and my calling. I love them all.” says Mrs. Charmaine. And she does. One moment in her class and you will see her words come to life through heartfelt actions to empower students to succeed.
The STEM Factory offers tutoring and homework help as well as mini–STEM Camps for children and parents. Tutoring is specifically provided for grades K-5th grade. But as the child comes first, they will provide or refer for tutoring beyond 5th grade. Cannabis Straight Talk From Miracle Leaf The annual National Cannabis Day, which is observed on, April 20 has just passed and Geo Tejada of the Miracle Leaf Cannabis Health Center in Hallandale Beach seeks to set the record straight on his products. “There’s a lot of confusion about Cannabis,” he says. “People want to know why they should consider the use of Cannabis. Where can they buy these products? Is Cannabis legal in Florida? Do people need a license to buy it? How can Cannabis products be used?” Tejada explains that Cannabis products come from the Cannabis Sativa Plant, a widely cultivated crop around the world. “It exists in multiple varieties,” he says. THC Vs. CBD Some varieties of Cannabis have Psychoactive Properties that produce a euphoric reaction. They contain a relatively high concentration of a substance called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The common name for such varieties is Marijuana. Florida Law allows the use of “Medical Marijuana” that is high in THC for certain qualifying conditions, including: Cancer, Crohn’s Disease, Epilepsy, Glaucoma, HIV-AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and PostTraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Patients must obtain a Medical Marijuana Card and a recommendation from a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine who have taken a course and passed an exam to receive certification as a Marijuana Physician. Upon being approved, patients join a registry and receive a Medical Marijuana Card. Then they may purchase their recommended THC Products from a Dispensary Licensed by the State. “Today,” Tejada says, “over 500,000 patients are registered in Florida.” The rules are different for other varieties of Cannabis, known as Hemp, that contain only trace amounts of THC. During World War II, the U.S. Government used Hemp to make canvas, rope and uniforms. Today it is a source of products as diverse as biofuel, cement, cosmetics, clothing, insulation, paper
and textiles. “Hemp became a Federally Approved Crop under the 2018 Farm Bill and all of our products are Hemp-Based,” Tejada says. “Their primary substance, Cannabidiol (CBD), lacks euphoric properties but still can alleviate symptoms of anxiety, pain and stress associated with a variety of medical conditions. “You don’t need a Medical
Marijuana Card and a Recommendation to buy the products we sell at Health Centers such as Miracle Leaf,” he emphasizes. To Smoke Or Not The discussion of Cannabis typically revolves around smoking the flowers, but that’s not the only way to use Cannabis Products. Hemp-Based CBD Products in particular have blossomed (pun intended) in recent years, offering a wide variety of consumption alternatives. Tejada lists Sublingual Tinctures (drops of liquid under the tongue), “Vapes” for inhalation, Edible Gummies and Topical Pain-relief Creams that are popular with the elderly. Cannabis also is a major ingredient in Alice B. Toklas’ Brownies. Alice was the life-mate of Author Gertrude Stein, who reigned over the Parisian Literary
Scene between the two World Wars. Google “Alice B. Toklas’ Brownies” to find thousands of entries about this confection. If you make these brownies with Marijuana, limit consumption and beware of the unintended side effects. Hemp is kinder and gentler in this regard. Tejada says his Miracle Leaf store in Hallandale Beach has over 2,000 regu-
lar customers. Some are Tobacco smokers who view Miracle Leaf’s CBD Products as a desirable alternative, while others use CBD Products while waiting for their medical Marijuana Cards and Recommendations. “We’re not a Medical Marijuana Dispensary,” he emphasizes, “but we do have Certified Marijuana Physicians on staff to provide assistance to people who come in with specific medical needs. “Most of our customers are older than 45. Cannabis is not just for the young. The elderly have been able to connect with the use of Cannabis. We can’t make medical claims for a cure, but we have been able to help many
patients with medical conditions to alleviate their symptoms.” For Fido and Tabby Many pet owners give CBD Products to their dogs and cats, Tejada says. Signs your Canine and Feline friends may benefit from CBD include Arthritis and other Inflammatory Ailments, Chronic Pain, Digestive Tract Upsets, Kidney and Liver Ailments, Separation Anxiety when you leave home and the fear of thunder and other loud noises. Also, while it’s not a cure, CBD may prolong and improve the quality of life for elderly Dogs and Cats with Cancer and other Terminal Conditions. CBD Products sold specifically for Pets include Capsules and Chews, Peanut Butter, Tinctures, Treats and Topical Preparations such as shampoos and balms. Resist the temptation to give your Pets the same products you use, Tejada advises. Look for products specifically formulated and lab tested for Pets and Organically Sourced, which mean they come from PesticideFREE Hemp Plants. Dosage depends on your Pet’s size, weight and individual body chemistry. While product packaging and your Veterinarian may offer guidelines, every Pet is different, so start slowly and work up to an Optimal Dosage. National Cannabis Day National Cannabis Day originated with five California high school students who met at 4:20 p.m. on April 20th, 1971, to smoke Marijuana. Today it’s an International Counter-Culture Holiday and an opportunity for the Cannabis Industry to showcase its products and services. “The Industry gives back to the community with big promotions and sales,” Tejada says, adding that Miracle Leaf always participates in the observance in a big way.

Robert Egert: 15 Exquisite Years Catering To SoFlo’s Many Tastes By Hugo Ottolenghi
Like baseball stars with a storied career, Robert Egert puts on a uniform for the love of the game. For the past 15 years, he has been doing that at Exquisite Catering by Robert. But unlike those ballplayers, his game is catering, and his uniform includes an apron and chef’s hat. Egert founded and continues to manage hands on one of the premier catering companies in South Florida. This year, it received WeddingWire’s Couples Choice Award and a Best Catering Companies in Miami Award from Expertise.com. From corporate and social gatherings, weddings and birthday parties, the catering service based in North Miami has been preparing its best dishes for special occasions. On any given day, you can find 25 cooks, many of whom Egert trained, hard at work in a 15,000-square-foot facility in North Miami. They make a bit of a racket as they cut, slice and dice, stir, season, and fry. Supporting them are 25 more people who make up the service staff, dishwashers, delivery drivers and support desk. Egert’s career began when he was hired at age 13 to be a dishwasher at the legendary Mario the Baker on West Dixie Highway in North Miami. He worked his way up to pizza maker before going off to college. There, a job as a prep cook led to promotion to Kitchen Manager that included running the catering business. While working for John the Baker, he honed his catering skills and broadened his menu knowledge well beyond Italian dishes and school lunches. Then, in 2007, Egert went out on his own. The next year, the Great Recession hit, and the business struggled as companies cut out events and consumers cut back on spending. Egert persevered and grew steadily, doubling, then tripling his kitchen from its original 3,000 square feet. He faced a second severe business challenge when the Pandemic started in 2020. It all but eliminated corporate and social events. Again, Egert sur-
vived, fed the National Guard and other first responders such as health care workers and is back stronger than ever. He and his staff are working on expanding the North Miami location to create a comfortable tasting room for
those putting on big events like weddings. Those clients can select from the Exquisite Catering menu that ranges from American, Italian, Asian, Latin and Caribbean to good-old Barbecue. The kitchen produces breakfasts, lunches and dinners to suit every taste. “We make our menu to match what you want, and we want to make you look good doing it,” Egert tells clients.
Companies call on Exquisite Catering for office meetings and sponsorships. Among the favorite morning treats are scrambled eggs with crispy bacon or sausage, waffles and a cheesy hash brown casserole.
For lunch, the most popular items are over-stuffed gourmet deli sandwiches made with roast beef, turkey, Italian combo, or ham and Swiss. Other top choices are grilled chicken served on homemade bread and tortilla wraps. All come with homemade side dishes such as potato salad, creamy cole slaw
and garden-fresh pasta salad. Families contact Egert and his team for extraordinary events in their lives such as weddings, black-tie galas, graduation dinners, quinceañeras and bar/bat mitzvahs. An event planner takes care of all the details, down to servers and bartenders. They can request anything and everything: Fajitas, brisket, Dad’s Famous Meatloaf, beef stew and New York strip steak for meat lovers. Baked ziti, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, jumbo meatballs, and chicken parmigiana or chicken marsala for Italian food fans Cuban-style roast pork, grilled chicken breast and Cuban-style shredded flank steak served with white rice and black beans and sweet plantains for a taste for Latin food. Beef stir-fry, teriyaki jumbo shrimp stir-fry, fire roasted orange chicken, kung pow chicken and house recipe curry chicken for Asian foodies. And for dessert, the catering company bakes its own goods such as chocolate and almond cookies, berry cake, key lime pie, pastries and more. While the catering business gives Egert entrée into the worlds of major corporations, wealthy individuals and luxury locations, he stays close to home and family. He grew up in North Miami, went to high school there, studied hospitality at the Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University in that city and opened his business just a few miles from his alma mater. And while Egert rubs elbows with Miami’s elite, his favorite way to spend time is with his wife Kristina and their children, Hannah and Sophia. They understand that because of his love for catering, most days they don’t see too much of him. Egert and his employees are in the kitchen starting at 4 a.m. Monday through Sunday. When do they go home? “When we are done,” he says.

Precision Legal: “Florida’s Game-Changer For The Restoration Industry” By David L. Snelling
For the past two years Precision Legal has specialized in property damage law by representing restoration companies and homeowners whose claims were denied or underpaid by their insurance companies. While the firm handles some cases for homeowners’ claims, the bulk of its work focuses on restoration companies that provide services such as water mitigation, mold testing, mold remediation, leak detection and plumbing issues, just to name a few. Located in Fort Lauderdale, this boutique law firm specializes in handling high volume collections for the restoration companies. “When restoration companies would come to us for help, their most common complaint is that they can never reach their prior attorneys,” says Precision Legal founder, Jesse O’Hara. “We always asked potential new clients what specific information they would like to know if they could reach their lawyer. However, clients were never really able to tell us. So, we embraced a unique, tech-savvy approach to our law firm and developed a data analysis service to calculate the most important metrics that a restoration company would want to know when taking on a claim.” According to Jesse, restoration companies perform their work through Assignment of Benefits which allows an insurance company to pay them directly. But when the amounts of the claims fall short or are denied, Precision Legal
steps in to ensure the insurance companies honor their policies and pay the full amounts owed to their clients. The procedure is an extension of the company’s collections department which collects data to argue their clients’ actual insurance payouts. “Because most of our clients are operating at a high volume of claims, we have been able to gather data, over thousands of cases, to project cash flow and to help our clients determine how much payment they can expect to receive from the insurance company,” said O’Hara. “In our data collection, we also provide reports to our clients to show them their open claims and their amount in outstanding payments and provide updates on their cases. We are extremely client centered and strive to be the most responsive, flexible and effective firm for our clients in order to make them more money, more efficiently.” He added: “We aren’t just a law firm, but an extension of your restoration company’s collections team. Our litigation analytics reports help our clients to have a firm grasp of their numbers so they can make better business decisions.” He also says that the data allows Precision Legal to advise their clients whether they should expand or not. Litigation accounts receivable and monthly payment reports help our restoration company’s clients know if they can hire more staff and buy more equipment. “They have a better grasp of their business because we’ve taken the
major step of a law firm, figuring out what data is important to clients and assuming the responsibility of providing transparent monthly litigation reports to clients with litigation strategies based upon the numbers,” O’ Hara said. “ At Precision Legal, lawyering is not just an art – it is very much a science. Our data-driven solutions drive justice right down to the decimal point.” Jesse said the more cases his firm receives from its clients, the more accurate the data becomes and the better Precision Legal can project their cash flow. “We go after the insurance companies when they are unpaid or underpaid so that they do not lose money on their hard work.” For homeowners, determining their payouts for damages is slightly different, for instance, in the event of a storm, a homeowner’s insurance policy will require the homeowner to ‘mitigate’ or stop further damage to the property. However, most homeowners are unaware that their property insurance policies often cover this type of ‘mitigation’ service. When a homeowner hires a restoration company to protect their property from further damage, they have two options: (1) pay the restoration company’s bills out-of-pocket and seek reimbursement from the insurance or (2) the restoration company can negotiate its bills directly with the insurance company. Most of Precision Legal’s clients are small, family-owned companies that prefer to avoid billing other families at the time of an emergency. Instead, our
clients prefer to bill the insurance companies directly. After all, if Florida families are already paying record-high premiums for insurance, why should they pay extra hard-earned money for services their insurance already covers? “If they are smart, Florida families can obtain cost-free restoration services through our clients and we will help ensure that those bills get paid by the insurance companies – not by the homeowners – but the real value that Precision Legal provides to restoration industry clients is in the numbers,” O’ Hara said. In addition to providing data-driven solutions, Precision Legal litigation services are cost-free to their clients. If an insurance company refuses to pay a restoration company’s bills, the invoice can be sent directly to Precision Legal and begin the collection process. Precision Legal will front all of the firm’s costs (e.g. court filing fees, depositions, etc.) and get paid separately for its services by the insurance companies. This means that restoration companies can hire Precision Legal for free and still keep 100% percent of the settlements that have been awarded. “It’s a risk-free solution for restoration companies that have difficulty getting their invoices paid by the insurance companies.” Precision Legal 1700 East Las Olas Blvd, Suite#: 102 Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301 (954) 361-7878

Focusing On People From Real Estate To Firefighting By David L. Snelling
J. Scott Cowles was seven years-old when he wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps and become a Real Estate Agent. Not only is he a successful Real Estate Broker, President and CEO of Esquire RE Brokerage firm in Fort Lauderdale, but he is also a Volunteer Firefighter for the City of Lauderdale-ByThe-Sea and loves running in marathons across the United States. He also enjoys challenges in his professional career and even in his spare time. But most of all, he loves to give back to his community and don the modern turnout gear and personal protective equipment to help his colleagues put out fires. “Giving back to the community, that’s key for me, and that’s what I like to focus on.” But Real Estate was his first calling. He has been selling Residential and Commercial Properties for the past 30 years. He started in his native home of Louisville, Kentucky before moving to South Florida eight years ago. His Commercial and Residential Real Estate listings stretch from Boynton Beach to Miami and his career volume of sales record is $200,000,000 to $300,000,000. “I have been in the industry for years, I moved down here because of the wealth in the area, the amount of people I can serve and the ocean lifestyle.” “The difference with the Real Estate Markets in Louisville and South Florida is the latter region has six to nine times greater volume than Louisville. The average prices for Residential Properties is between $400,000 and $900,000 and $900,000 to $6 Million for Commercial Areas. “That’s a big difference than selling Real Estate in Louisville. The prices are typically higher in South Florida and there are a lot of diversified people. It’s truly a melting pot.” Scott also sells Real Estate for Condos, Apartment Complexes, Duplexes and Multi-Family Units. To help his clients find the best and most suitable location to live, he listens to their needs and wants, such as breathtaking views overlooking the water, waterfront properties and lifestyle amenities offered in the community for them to enjoy. “Sometimes it can be a challenge because the inventory is smaller while the competition in Real Estate is large such as properties in Downtown
and Oceanfront Properties in Fort Lauderdale.” Some of his clients are Real Estate Inventors who are seeking to buy up properties. “In looking for a scenario, multi-family complexes are good for investors. Get ready to be on your toes and act decisively, there are many different options. The market is so high and in demand.” On some occasions he will even cold call properties that aren’t currently on the market for sale to help his clients find properties that suit their requests. In Kentucky he worked with Goodwill Industries and helped the organization acquire property with cold-calling. The company was looking for a large private community with a great view and the property they purchased is next to a park in Downtown Louisville. “And it’s nice,” he said. He used the same method to help Easter Seals in Kentucky buy a big piece of property for a larger office space. A dedication to the Real Estate industry runs in the family. His mother still sells Real Estate in Kentucky and has been doing it for the past 55 years. When he told his mother that he was moving to South Florida, she understood. “She knew I needed a change,” he said. “I had three boys who went off to college and it was time for a change. And being a runner, the beaches are the natural progression to come this way.” Cowles started running in marathons across the country five years ago, taking on another challenge to help him stay active and spry. He has run in 40 half marathons and five full marathons in Miami, New York and Los Angeles. He is currently planning to run in the Chicago Marathon later this year. He frequently vacations in cities where people are running in marathons. “I enjoy traveling to places to run... I will make it a vacation, I started running marathons to do something challenging to reach another goal.” Another challenge he was excited to take on was becoming a FireFighter, he was recently voted on the Board Of Directors for the Lauderdale-By-TheSea’s Fire Department several months ago. The department trained him so he could earn his certification to Volunteer as a fully certified Firefighter. He actually drives the fire engine on many occasions. “It’s always thrilling and exciting focusing on community, other
FireFighters and your own health.” Scott Cowles lives across the street from the Fire Department, he’s on call only when he is available. “When I’m available I will answer the call.” He has a 31-year-old son who’s an Arborist in Denver, a 30-year-old son who’s an Entrepreneur and a 23-yearold son who’s a student at the University of Louisville. If you are interested in a Residential or Commercial Property and
would like a Realtor who has a passion for the business and lifestyle that Florida has to offer, then Scott will be happy to assist you. J. Scott Cowles Esquire RE Brokerage, LLC 430 East Las Olas Boulevard Suite#: 130-689 Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301 Phone: (502) 641-3526

Elite Auctioneers Free Appraisal Of Your Antiques, Modern Art, Estate & More By Felipe Castilla
In the enterprising world of auctioneering, Elite Auctioneers LLC stands out as a company truly dedicated to its craft. President of the company Tracy Hayes and her husband Chris have established a team of experienced appraisers specializing in everything from designer jewelry, 20th century modern design, pottery and Chinese antiques to precious metals, art, porcelains, estates and more. They offer a variety of unique services including appraisals, estate liquidations, consignments, outright purchases, real estate and charity auctions. Elite Auctioneers even provides free appraisals and evaluations with no strings attached. Originally from New York, Elite Auctioneers is a full-service auction and antique gallery that has been operating for over 40 years with unrivaled professionalism. A family of former public administrators auctioning for the state of New York, the people of Elite Auctioneers have a rich and trusted history of exceptional service. In addition to their eclectic expertise and passion for antiques, they have a full time staff available Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ready to answer any and all questions regarding the auctioning process or their services. Elite Auctioneers is conveniently located on 23033 State Road 7, Boca Raton Florida 33428 where interested sellers can have their items evaluated
Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With their expansive network of buyers, Elite Auctioneers works hard to guarantee sellers a fair market value for their item and get it sold to the right buyer. They have both local and online bidders through their partner sites Invaluable, Auctionzip, Live auctioneers and Bidsquare, making bidding easy and accessible regardless of location. That means no matter where you are in the world, you’ll have a front row view of all the items available. “We have thousands of registered buyers throughout the world,” said Tracy Hayes. Furthermore, Elite Auctioneers features a live auction feed for their online and remote buyers to provide opportunities for both selling and purchasing from the comfort of your home. The process of auctioning is intuitively simple. If you want to participate in an auction you can sign up to bid online. Their website even includes notifications that inform visitors of the next auction. Once signed up with one of these vendors, you will be able to view Elite’s catalogs. If you don’t feel comfortable online, you can also save money by absentee or phone bidding. For phone bidding, an expert staff member contacts you directly before your bidding lot enabling you to join in the bid the moment your item lands on the auction block. Once the items are reviewed and approved, Elite Auctioneers sends out a contract to be signed, dated and
returned. Shipping can be carefully arranged at any time before the auction and once the items are sold, you receive a check in the mail after the buyer has paid. This usually takes place within 30 days of the auction itself. Their commitment to client satisfaction doesn’t stop there, however. Elite Auctioneers is also committed to making sure the selling process is as simple as making a phone call. If you have an antique to sell, the appraisers with over 40 years of experience will personally come to your home and review your items for free and with no obligations. If you’re looking to move and cannot take everything with you, the Elite Auctioneers team will help you decide what you might be able to sell and what can be taken to your new home. These services don’t just apply to single items but entire estates as well. Just a few of Elite’s notable and satisfied clients include Binder and Binder Law Firm, the family of a PGA champion and the former owner of the Indiana Pacers Basketball Team. In the case of estate liquidation, Elite Auctioneers take the added steps of providing clients with trained movers, professional photography, advertising and promotion to help move your items while doing everything in their power to secure a buyer. Elite Auctioneers have a century of experience in liquidating partial and even full estates. Regardless of size, they will sell everything and anything of value as they have done for thousands of clients over the years.
The expert team of estate buying specialists evaluates the items of the estate and make an offer based on a fair market value. Once that is done and an agreement on price has been reached, the items will be removed from the estate and the estate itself will be meticulously cleaned. It’s important to note that if there are items in your estate you want to dispose of, you must contact Elite for an evaluation appointment before the liquidation process can begin. Moreover, Elite makes the consignment process just as easy. You can take photos of your items and email them to www.eliteauction.com. You should include important item information like the age, condition, any labels, the dimensions, manufacturing tags, and provenance. In September 2019, they hosted a charity auction event at the Lifetime Montel Williams Military Makeover Charity Auction and Gala. The event was to commemorate members of armed forces as well as the victims and survivors of the tragedy that took place in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. “The auction was a success for a great cause, and Elite Auctioneers was honored to donate some great items to raise money for the families of the brave who served our country,” said Tracy Hayes. Elite Auctioneers have a deeprooted belief in the work that they do because for them, auctioning is just as much about building and strengthening communities, as it is about selling antiques. You can visit their web-site and look through their catalog of Asian antiques, art, furniture, coins, collectibles, home décor and ashion by visiting: www.eliteauction.com/eliteauctioneer Or contact their office directly at: (954) 205-3446 or (305) 332-7309

2021 Business Woman Of The Year Not every real estate professional targets his or her career to be known as a “concierge broker.” Twenty-plus years ago, when she first started out in real estate, that was the goal of Lonna Spitaleri, now founder/owner/broker of Costa Bella Realty Group in Hollywood. From the beginning, Lonna wanted to be recognized as a real estate sales professional, who could exceed her client’s expectations in delivering personalized service, whether the sale was small or monumental and she obviously succeeded. Lonna has accomplished that goal and so much more during her career and on March 4th she was recognized by The Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as the “2021 Business Woman of the Year” at The Diplomat Beach Resort. She has also, on behalf of the 2021 Nominations Committee of the Broward, Palm Beach and St. Lucie Realtors, been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as a Regional Board Member on the South Broward Board for a two year term. Her talent, dedication and leadership qualities have made these accolades all possible. Years ago Lonna started her career as a sales associate with RE/MAX. During each of the eight years she was affiliated with that agency, she was awarded the 100% or Platinum Award as a Top Producer. Following that and just prior to founding Costa Bella Realty Group in 2016, Lonna had worked an additional eight years as a Broker Associate with another top real estate brokerage, where again, she consistently was cited as a Top Producer. Today, not only is Lonna the owner of a fine boutique real estate brokerage, but she has advanced her credentials with the designation of Certified Luxury Home Specialist, as well as some other specialized industry certifications. Lonna specializes in all types of properties that include: luxury homes, single family homes, condos and commercial properties. She serves as a buyer’s agent as well as a seller’s agent. Lonna and her agents assist clients with decision-making in properties under construction, relocations, water-
front properties, vacation homes and investment properties. She guides firsttime home buyers by providing research on all applicable properties. Currently, her company Costa Bella Realty Group has 22 agents, personally selected by Lonna for their personality,
at 330 North Federal Highway in Hollywood, in the same building as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “Being located so physically close to the Chamber has given us a wonderful opportunity to work with other professionals involved in the redevelopment
dren, Lonna now is able to take advantage of a fabulous South Florida lifestyle. Lonna continues to maintain ongoing relationships with her clients, updating them about changing market cycles and trends. This enables them to make real estate investment decisions for their families and themselves throughout the year. As a result of this unique personalized connection, Lonna Spitaleri remains one of the area’s top producers and sought- after real estate professionals. Lonna has received many 5star commendations from buyers and sellers, noted for her knowledge of the market, comparable values for buying or selling and being in fine tune with her clients’ needs, goals, styles and preferences. “Right now, the market is hot and inventory is low,” says Lonna. She wants to remind homeowners that if they are considering selling their home any time soon, this is the time to list. “Costa Realty Group will be happy to provide a free market analysis of any property,” says Lonna, “to help list and sell it for the best possible price in this sizzling sellers’ market.” “Nothing is more exciting to me than the gratifying feeling I get from helping people with their real estate needs,” says Lonna. “I take pride in being informative, honest and trustworthy in helping people find their dream home or investment property at the best price or offer for their sale.” According to Lonna, this is where being a concierge broker comes in. “Every transaction, especially in this tumultuous South Florida real estate market, requires intense due diligence,” she says. “Too many people are just out to make the sale,” she adds. “Our goal is to understand the needs and create a satisfied client. Having a successful outcome for our clients, is the Costa Bella Realty Group criteria for success. Their satisfaction is our success.”
attitudes and people skills. Besides English, Costa Bella Realty Group can offer professional service and expertise in Russian, Spanish, French, Creole and Italian. Under Lonna’s direction, each agent is groomed in sensitivity training to meet individual client needs and the expertise to follow through with a smooth transaction to the sale. Known as a boutique real estate brokerage, Costa Bella Realty Group has assisted clients in the buying and selling of residential and commercial properties ranging in every price range. Agents with Costa Bella cover the Tri County area, the brokerage has also helped clients close on hotels and motels on Hollywood Beach and Downtown Hollywood. Costa Bella Realty Group is located
of Downtown Hollywood and to help bring business and residents to the area,” says Lonna. “Hollywood is our home base and efforts to help make it bigger and stronger, is to everyone’s advantage,” she adds. Lonna keeps ahead of all trends, but is quick to point out that the major problem in real estate today, is a lack of inventory. “Everybody wants to move to Florida,” she says. They are coming down in droves and we do not have enough product to show them. People are outbidding the asking prices of homes here. That is definitely an Lonna Spitaleri area that we can guide our clients Costa Bella International Realty 954-921-2800 for the best results.” Having been a resident of South 330 N. U.S. Medicare Info Helping Seniors With Medicare Programs Throughout Florida By David L. Snelling
For almost five years, U.S. Medicare Info has been helping senior’s in South Florida get coverage for health and drug services not covered by Original Medicare from the government. US Medicare Info. is lead by Steven Hulnick, Owner of Hulnick Insurance Inc. Hulnick is a contracted agent for many of the insurance companies that have expanded coverage to seniors on Medicare to close the gap including, United Health Care the AARP Program, Medica, Preferred Care Partners, Aetna, Humana, Well Care and Silver Script. Hulnick, 48, said the problem stems from the government covering 80 percent of Medicare patients’ costs and doesn’t offer a drug plan. “As a broker, I work with private insurance companies that offer Medicare insurance supplement programs to cover the balance of what the government doesn’t provide,” he said. “People call me very confused because of the process. They reach out for assistance and I guide them in the right direction. I consider myself an advocate for seniors.” Licensed to do business in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Arizona and soon to be in Michigan. Hulnick said he’s ranked in the top two percent of selling agents in the U.S. Hulnick, a native of New York, said his agents working for him are also licensed to do business in those states. To assist seniors, Hulnick said his team first helps clients enrolled in the government’s Medicare plan and then can guide them to sign up for the Medicare Supplement programs with private insurance companies to round out coverage and make them complete. He said he doesn’t charge seniors for helping them. “No salary, just a fee paid directly from the insurance company,” he said. Previously, Hulnick has over 20 years of insurance experience, selling Health, Life, Property and Casualty insurances. Hulnick spends his time concentrat-
ing on Medicare because he enjoys being a resource to the community while building a successful business. “I tell my clients, I am lucky to be able to build a business while helping people,” he said. Hulnick said trust with his clients has become the source of their relationship which helps attract and retain customers. He said his clients can always depend on him and rely on his expertise and trusting advice. “People call me because they are concerned and scared of the process,” he said. “I come in with a helping hand and nurture them through the process. He added: “By doing right by my clients, I receive referrals from neighbors and family members throughout the country. They call me because of the trust that I build.” Hulnick said he has transitioned to working remotely due to COVID which hasn’t slowed his business down. He said now he communicates through conference calls, Zoom and emails to get clients signed up through electronic email applications and voice recorded technologies. Selling insurance wasn’t Hulnick’s first career. A graduate of Johnson Wales University’s main campus in Providence, Rhode Island, Hulnick worked in the advertising industry for Grey Advertising in New York. He said his clients included Six Flags Theme Park, Seagram, Captain Morgan and Crown Royal. Hulnick said he met his wife, Elissa Pearl Hulnick, while working in New York and they moved to Florida, where she graduated from the University of Miami School of Law and he earned his MBA at Nova Southeastern University. The Goal of Dr. Chander Gupta is Keeping His Patients Healthy Through Modern Dentistry Dr. Chander Gupta of Brighten Dental Care in Dania Beach takes a holistic approach to his practice. “By correcting alignment, filling gaps with precision by ensuring the correct fit of bridges, crowns and dentures, providing prophylactic cleaning and scaling, oral cancer screening and assessing the level of bacteria and viruses in a patient’s mouth with state-of-the art technology, we are able to be a partner in maintaining the overall health of our patients,” he says. “During the past thirty years, he continues, “I have seen patients with terrible oral problems, some of their own making by neglect of proper care or inability to seek proper treatment, but some have even been victims of poor workmanship in the past. Although I enjoy all aspects of dental care and improvement, undertaking these challenges bring me the most satisfaction in my work.” Dr. Gupta is referring to improving dental health not only through prophylaxis, but also by replacing missing teeth with implants, bridges or partials, repairing existing ones with fillings or caps and improving alignment with the newest innovation in braces called Invisalign®. Invisalign® braces are clear, removable aligners made of a flexible thermoplastic material, that when carefully fitted and following instructions, gradually will straighten a patient’s teeth and bite. There are no brackets or wires, and the appliance has none of the restrictions or discomfort that is associated with metal braces. “Not only is Invisalign® hardly noticeable,” says Dr. Gupta, “but it is an effective correction device for any age, from teens to the elderly.” Dr. Gupta has the technology to perform screenings to detect early mouth cancers and provide DNA testing of saliva to identify bacterial population in order to determine if more extensive periodontal work may be needed. Dr. Gupta says that most people don’t realize how influential the health of their mouth is on their entire body.
“Our mouths harbor microorganisms like bacteria and viruses that can invade our hearts, lungs and nervous system. Not only do those microorganisms affect the individual, but they can easily be spread from person to person through kissing, sharing, even droplets through sneezing, coughing, shouting and singing, as we recently have been warned regarding the spread of COVID-19.” He adds that even if an individual is diligent in their personal dental care, the foods and beverages that enter their mouths contribute to the human biome that affects the entire body. Therefore, he recommends that regular dental checkups should be part of any health regime. Dr. Gupta points out that most people have tooth loss today due to tooth decay, periodontal disease or traumatic injury. Although bridges between existing teeth may fill the gap, they are not always a feasible solution. In those cases, Dr. Gupta recommends dental implants to totally replace one, multiple or all missing teeth by creating a prosthetic root with the fusion of a titanium or zirconium screw into the jaw and
attaching customized matching teeth to become a permanent fixture, just like your own teeth. “Removable dentures is an option in replacing full or partial tooth loss,” he says, “but they often can be problematic, especially for older patients whose gums slowly continue to shrink.” At that point, he notes that dentures begin to slip and the individual tends to use more denture adhesive, which ultimately gets swallowed and that is not good for their health. He says, “ill-fitting dentures create sore spots on the gum line.” He continues by saying that the patient then self-medicates with an over-the-counter oral anesthetic like Orajel® that numbs the gum, but does nothing to heal the sore. He explains that infection can then easily set into the open wound. The patient then cannot chew properly which upsets their stomach and ultimately takes a toll on his or her health and general wellbeing. “Proper fitting and continued monitoring are critical in all phases of dentistry,” he continues, “so this is an absolute criterion in service to my patients.” Dr. Gupta says that he and the labs he
works with are fastidious in their fittings and follow up care. Another service that Dr. Gupta provides is related to snoring and sleep apnea. He can perform testing in his office that provides critical information to be sent to a sleep specialist for evaluation. Based on their recommendation, he can fit a patient with mild to moderate sleep apnea a customized oral orthotic device that now can replace a bulky C-PAP mask and machine. Degreed as a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery), Dr. Gupta performs dental surgery in his office, which is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology including surgical laser equipment. “Even with all of that,” says Dr. Gupta, “most important to us is that we treat our patients as if they are our own family members and provide quality dentistry with reasonable fees.” Dr. Gupta says that his office staff is happy to accommodate the patient with appointments, help complete insurance forms and arrange for various payment plan options including Care Credit and Lending Club. Our Health Care Coordinator, Miss Chandrally Mahajan, MPH (master’s in public health, Epidemiology) has a strong belief in educating the public about Oral Health and its connection to Overall Health.
