Wellness Clinic Body Rejuvenation Opens For Business In Hallandale Beach By David L. Snelling
What does a former surgeon, a former professional body builder and a chiropractor all have in common? They run a wellness clinic in Hallandale Beach that helps aging people feel young and rejuvenated again. Dr. Adonis, Bill Wilmore and Dr. Etna M. Castellanos have teamed up to launch Body Rejuvenation, where the clinic motto is “Helping you live a long and healthy life.” The facility, which opened in September, is located at 100 North Federal Highway, Suite 201 in Hallandale Beach. The wellness clinic specializes in Acupuncture, Aesthetic Medicine, Botox and Filler/Facial PRP, Chiropractic Care, IV Nutrition Therapy, Hormone Replacement Therapy HRT, PRP Platelet Rich Plasma Joints and Weight Loss. Bill Wilmore is founder and president and CEO of Miami’s premier functional wellness clinic, Dr. Adonis, a former neurologist, is the medical director and Castellanos is the chiropractor and nurse practitioner of the clinic. Bill Wilmore was one of the most intriguing athletes to graduate from Plum Senior High School. He followed a successful wrestling career at Plum Senior High School with even more success as an amateur and then as a Professional Bodybuilder! Bill proceeded to reach the highest level of the sport by qualifying 5 times for Mr. Olympia, the pinnacle of the sport. Wrestling Bill was a 4-time state qualifier and has numerous titles in wrestling, which he feels gave him the discipline for everything he has accomplished to date. Bodybuilding Following his wrestling career, Bill turned his focus to bodybuilding. The path to professional bodybuilding is an extremely difficult one. This entails hours and hours in the gym, being on extremely strict diets for months on end,
just to name a few. As a Professional, Bill maintained success at the highest level of the sport. He finished in the top 5 in many prestigious bodybuilding shows. He turned pro by winning the Overall Title in 2005 at the NPC National Bodybuilding Championship. He was victorious at the 2012 Toronto Pro Show as well. Bill was able to attract numerous supplement sponsorships during his career and developing his own personal training business Wilpower USA, LLC, and was a well-known promoter of the Bill Wilmore Classic for 6 consecutive years. He has done seminars all over the world speaking on weight training, nutrition, and supplementation for these companies. Personal Training Over the years Bill has trained many high-profile professionals such as doctors, lawyers, politicians, professional athletes, and people of all ages. “As the President of Body Rejuvenation, I use all my skills that I have acquired through sports and coaching to help our patients to better health and overall wellness,” Wilmore said. Wilmore said he started the wellness clinic to help people rejuvenate their bodies. He said as people age, their level of testosterone reduces, and the symptoms can include erectile dysfunction and reduced bone, sex drive and fatigue. “We use nutrition, training and wellness programs to help them step up to the level for functional rejuvenation,” he said. “To start, we conduct bio identity hormone testing and some blood work to see where they are at.” Wilmore said he retired from active body building competition in 2017. He said body building and coaching people in athletics and personal training drives him to help people reach their goals. Dr. Adonis transitioned from surgery
to Functional Medicine to look for a more family friendly career. Dr. Adonis said his career kept him away from his family a lot, including on the holidays. He earned his post-graduation degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Adonis said the first step is discovering the root cause of the problem and subsequently recommending the concepts to address it. He said he recommends vitamins, bio identity hormone replacement therapy along with lifestyle changes like adding nutrition to their diet and exercise. “One example is people feeling tired and fatigued, lack motivation, gain weight and develop mood changes,” he said. “It can be attributed to vitamin deficiency and hormone deficiency. We replace their vitamins, that’s more effective or do hormone replacement therapy which gives them energy and motivates them.” Dr. Adonis said women can benefit more with hormone replacement therapy following menopause and men after andropause. “When we get older, our bodies don’t make more hormones and testosterones,” he said. “We need human growth hormones especially for people who get tired and lose their hair. Replacing the hormones really makes a difference in sexuality problems.” Dr. Adonis said the clients are very excited to be treated by the clinic and
most patients stay with it for life. “Those people who have aged they feel good and stay with us,” he said. “We want to help them through their aging process and help save their lives.” Born in Colombia, Castellanos said she has been a chiropractor since 1995 and nurse practitioner since 2014. She said she joined the clinic because it gives her an opportunity to experience new things to help the patients. As a chiropractor certified in acupuncture she treats neck, lower back pain, upper and lower extremities for strain/sprain injuries. She also does PRP, joint injections, facial PRP, and IV Nutrition Therapy. “I do a little bit of everything,” she said. Castellanos said she never was exposed to hormone therapy before she joined the clinic. Castellanos also said she does a lot of marketing for Body Rejuvenation. U.S. Medicare Info Helping Seniors With Medicare Programs Throughout Florida By David L. Snelling
For almost five years, U.S. Medicare Info has been helping senior’s in South Florida get coverage for health and drug services not covered by Original Medicare from the government. US Medicare Info. is lead by Steven Hulnick, Owner of Hulnick Insurance Inc. Hulnick is a contracted agent for many of the insurance companies that have expanded coverage to seniors on Medicare to close the gap including, United Health Care the AARP Program, Medica, Preferred Care Partners, Aetna, Humana, Well Care and Silver Script. Hulnick, 48, said the problem stems from the government covering 80 percent of Medicare patients’ costs and doesn’t offer a drug plan. “As a broker, I work with private insurance companies that offer Medicare insurance supplement programs to cover the balance of what the government doesn’t provide,” he said. “People call me very confused because of the process. They reach out for assistance and I guide them in the right direction. I consider myself an advocate for seniors.” Licensed to do business in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Arizona and soon to be in Michigan. Hulnick said he’s ranked in the top two percent of selling agents in the U.S. Hulnick, a native of New York, said his agents working for him are also licensed to do business in those states. To assist seniors, Hulnick said his team first helps clients enrolled in the government’s Medicare plan and then can guide them to sign up for the Medicare Supplement programs with private insurance companies to round out coverage and make them complete. He said he doesn’t charge seniors for helping them. “No salary, just a fee paid directly from the insurance company,” he said. Previously, Hulnick has over 20 years of insurance experience, selling Health, Life, Property and Casualty insurances. Hulnick spends his time concentrat-
ing on Medicare because he enjoys being a resource to the community while building a successful business. “I tell my clients, I am lucky to be able to build a business while helping people,” he said. Hulnick said trust with his clients has become the source of their relationship which helps attract and retain customers. He said his clients can always depend on him and rely on his expertise and trusting advice. “People call me because they are concerned and scared of the process,” he said. “I come in with a helping hand and nurture them through the process. Hulnick said he met his wife, Elissa Pearl Hulnick, while working in New York and they moved to Florida, where she graduated from the University of Miami School of Law and he earned his MBA at Nova Southeastern University. Cannabis Straight Talk From Miracle Leaf The annual National Cannabis Day, which is observed on Wednesday, April 20 is approaching, Geo Tejada of the Miracle Leaf Cannabis health center in Hallandale Beach seeks to set the record straight on his products. “There’s a lot of confusion about Cannabis,” he says. “People want to know why they should consider the use of Cannabis. Where can they buy these products? Is Cannabis legal in Florida? Do people need a license to buy? How can Cannabis products be used.” Tejada explains that Cannabis products come from the Cannabis sativa plant, a widely cultivated crop around the world. “It exists in multiple varieties,” he says. THC vs CBD Some varieties of Cannabis have psychoactive properties that produce a euphoric reaction. They contain a relatively high concentration of a substance called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The common name for such varieties is marijuana. Florida law allows the use of “Medical Marijuana” that is high in THC for certain qualifying conditions, including cancer, Crohn’s disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV-AIDS, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Patients must obtain a Medical Marijuana card and a recommendation from a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathic medicine who has taken a course and passed an exam to receive certification as a marijuana physician. Upon being approved, patients join a registry and receive a Medical Marijuana card. Then they may purchase their recommendation THC products from a dispensary licensed by the state. “Today,” Tejada says, “over 500,000 patients are registered in Florida.” The rules are different for other varieties of Cannabis, known as hemp, that contain only trace amounts of THC. During World War II, the U.S. government used hemp to make canvas, rope, and uniforms. Today it is a source of products as diverse as biofuel, cement, cosmetics, clothing, insulation,
paper, and textiles. “Hemp became a federally approved crop under the 2018 farm bill, and all of our products are hempbased,” Tejada says. “Their primary substance, cannabidiol (CBD), lacks euphoric properties but still can alleviate symptoms of anxiety, pain, and stress associated with a variety of medical conditions.
“You don’t need a Medical Marijuana card and a recommendation to buy the products we sell at health centers such as Miracle Leaf,” he emphasizes. Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc FREE Specialized Telecommunications Equipment To Floridians By David L. Snelling
People experiencing hearing loss and difficulties communicating over the telephone can turn to a statewide nonprofit organization for help. For over 30 years, Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc. (FTRI) has been providing free specialized telecommunications equipment to Floridians who have a hearing loss, or speech disability. A State law known as the Telecommunications Access Systems Act (TASA) created FTRI and its specialized Equipment Distribution Program, along with the Florida Relay Service, in 1991. TASA was implemented in response to the new federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which charged states with making their telecommunications networks accessible to people with hearing and speech disabilities. The program offers amplification and signaling devices for people who are hard of hearing, latedeafened, deaf, Deaf/blind, or have a speech disability. Elissa Moran, Outreach Manager for FTRI, said the organization works with manufacturers such as Clarity, Serene and ClearSounds to offer amplified telephones and phone amplifiers that are available through 19 FTRI regional distribution centers in the state of Florida. A map of RDC locations and the simple online equipment application form can be found on the FTRI website, www.ftri.org. Moran said that according to TASA, people need to meet only three requirements to qualify for the program. They must be a permanent Florida resident, be at least three years old, and be certified as having a hearing loss or speech impairment. She said state law didn’t set any requirements for income and insurance to qualify for the program. The equipment is loaned to clients to keep for as long as it is needed and may be exchanged for different models as hearing loss changes over time. Moran stated the distribution program offers an array of amplified telephones that meet the needs of people

That specialist will assess the applicant’s ability to hear and understand speech over the phone, and match them with the right device to help improve their telephone communications experience. “Somebody who’s interested in the
phones and wants to learn more about them, would schedule an appointment at one of our RDC’s. There they will be greeted by someone who has received the appropriate training by FTRI staff in Tallahassee, Moran said. “They make sure that person has the right device, and the right training, and the client goes home that day with free equipment, with no hidden fees or costs.” Moran explained that FTRI doesn’t provide phone services, just the phones and amplifiers. “They must have their own phone lines,” Moran said. Our equipment makes those phone lines accessible to them.” The non-profit organization doesn’t take any payments for the phones distributed to citizens who need them, or engage in any fund-raisers. That’s because according to TASA, FTRI services are funded by a small surcharge assessed on each landline in the State of Florida. The current assessment is only 10 cents per month. Moran emphasized that the FTRI program offers high-quality phones that are far superior to any devices sold in retail outlets. It is because they are so specialized, and expensive, that they are pretty much available only online, or through state programs such as FTRI. “You won’t find them in your local Target or Best Buy,” she said. “They are not available for purchase at any local stores.” Although the Florida Relay Service plays an important role in making telecommunications accessible by allowing standard phones (like those at the pizza place) to connect to non-standard phones (think the old TTY, and increasingly, Captioned telephones), Moran says the equipment distribution program gets the most attention of the FTRI programs because the otherwise expensive phones and equipment are free. She said FTRI outreach and awareness programs strive to reach as many people as possible to tell them about the free phone equipment distribution program. However, with limited advertising budgets, that can be a challenge. “People are not seeing this stuff to help improve their lives,” she said. “The program can really help them if they know it exists.”

The Goal of Dr. Chander Gupta is Keeping His Patients Healthy Through Modern Dentistry Dr. Chander Gupta of Brighten Dental Care in Dania Beach takes a holistic approach to his practice. “By correcting alignment, filling gaps with precision by ensuring the correct fit of bridges, crowns and dentures, providing prophylactic cleaning and scaling, oral cancer screening and assessing the level of bacteria and viruses in a patient’s mouth with state-of-the art technology, we are able to be a partner in maintaining the overall health of our patients,” he says. “During the past thirty years, he continues, “I have seen patients with terrible oral problems, some of their own making by neglect of proper care or inability to seek proper treatment, but some have even been victims of poor workmanship in the past. Although I enjoy all aspects of dental care and improvement, undertaking these challenges bring me the most satisfaction in my work.” Dr. Gupta is referring to improving dental health not only through prophylaxis, but also by replacing missing teeth with implants, bridges or partials, repairing existing ones with fillings or caps and improving alignment with the newest innovation in braces called Invisalign®. Invisalign® braces are clear, removable aligners made of a flexible thermoplastic material, that when carefully fitted and following instructions, gradually will straighten a patient’s teeth and bite. There are no brackets or wires, and the appliance has none of the restrictions or discomfort that is associated with metal braces. “Not only is Invisalign® hardly noticeable,” says Dr. Gupta, “but it is an effective correction device for any age, from teens to the elderly.” Dr. Gupta has the technology to perform screenings to detect early mouth cancers and provide DNA testing of saliva to identify bacterial population in order to determine if more extensive periodontal work may be needed. Dr. Gupta says that most people don’t realize how influential the health of their mouth is on their entire body.
“Our mouths harbor microorganisms like bacteria and viruses that can invade our hearts, lungs and nervous system. Not only do those microorganisms affect the individual, but they can easily be spread from person to person through kissing, sharing, even droplets through sneezing, coughing, shouting and singing, as we recently have been warned regarding the spread of COVID-19.” He adds that even if an individual is diligent in their personal dental care, the foods and beverages that enter their mouths contribute to the human biome that affects the entire body. Therefore, he recommends that regular dental checkups should be part of any health regime. Dr. Gupta points out that most people have tooth loss today due to tooth decay, periodontal disease or traumatic injury. Although bridges between existing teeth may fill the gap, they are not always a feasible solution. In those cases, Dr. Gupta recommends dental implants to totally replace one, multiple or all missing teeth by creating a prosthetic root with the fusion of a titanium or zirconium screw into the jaw and
attaching customized matching teeth to become a permanent fixture, just like your own teeth. “Removable dentures is an option in replacing full or partial tooth loss,” he says, “but they often can be problematic, especially for older patients whose gums slowly continue to shrink.” At that point, he notes that dentures begin to slip and the individual tends to use more denture adhesive, which ultimately gets swallowed and that is not good for their health. He says, “ill-fitting dentures create sore spots on the gum line.” He continues by saying that the patient then self-medicates with an over-the-counter oral anesthetic like Orajel® that numbs the gum, but does nothing to heal the sore. He explains that infection can then easily set into the open wound. The patient then cannot chew properly which upsets their stomach and ultimately takes a toll on his or her health and general wellbeing. “Proper fitting and continued monitoring are critical in all phases of dentistry,” he continues, “so this is an absolute criterion in service to my patients.” Dr. Gupta says that he and the labs he
works with are fastidious in their fittings and follow up care. Another service that Dr. Gupta provides is related to snoring and sleep apnea. He can perform testing in his office that provides critical information to be sent to a sleep specialist for evaluation. Based on their recommendation, he can fit a patient with mild to moderate sleep apnea a customized oral orthotic device that now can replace a bulky C-PAP mask and machine.
