A Message From The President Thank you for the vote of confidence to the Board and the Chamber. I live here in Hallandale Beach, my parents, my kids, my friends – live here. This is personal to me: this City, this chamber and this presidency. Our city is changing and it is changing drastically. We have countless commercial and residential developments on the way, with first ones close to fruition this Fall.
Landscape of business is ever changing, and even with many businesses disappearing within months, many businesses have been part of our community for decades. Great examples are Sage Bagel, Nick’s Diner, Flashback, Riemer Insurance, Boca Bargoons, Zumba and European Wax center; Chen Medical and Hallandale Medical Center; Kirova Ballet, Matteos, Padrinos, Liberty Tax and many more. They have been here for years, flourishing, providing much needed services and products to our community and beyond. The City is primed for success. If you are already here, there are an exciting few years ahead of us. And if you are not part of Hallandale Beach, you better jump on the band wagon. Some of you probably don’t know, but I have lived in Hallandale Beach for the past 11 years. My twins were born in Mount Sinai Miami, but they have called Hallandale Beach as their home for the last 9 years. As a resident and a business owner, I can tell you - we are not perfect. There are many areas of our City that need to be addressed: schools, traffic, community space, safety. You would ask, what does a Chamber have to do with any of this? Everything. City is a living organism in which everything feeds into
each other. Schools are needed to attract families to purchase homes, to raise property values. Traffic - we are almost an isolated island. Maybe a little exaggeration but as a business it is getting increasingly difficult to attract great talent because they cannot get here. So we are forced to hire whatever is available locally. And this brings us to affordable housing initiatives. I hear numerous clients complaining that it takes them 30-40 minutes just to cross Hallandale from I-95 to the beach, forcing them to find a solution closer to their home and abandoning ours. Our City is transforming from a sleepy town, inundated with snow birds during winter months, to a flourishing city, with younger families and professionals moving in; offering new opportunities to the business community. The important factor now is to support local owned businesses by providing reasonably priced and easily accessible commercial space, financing and business education. And that is where the Chamber comes in, uniting our voices and representing us as a whole. And this Hallandale Chamber is going to bring it on in 2018... We are going to break the stereotype of what people think a Chamber is. We are going to take this thing called business interest unification, and make it our own. Our way. The Hallandale Beach way.
