Easing stress during the busy back-to-school season
AUGUST • AVENTURA DIGEST • PG 4
(BPT) - The easy breezy days of summer are coming to a close, and families everywhere are preparing to go back to school. For parents, this is a particularly challenging time of year. To help simplify and make this time more enjoyable, “The Lifestyle Mom” Dana Hilmer has a few tips for busy parents: 1. The temptation to sign your kids up for any and every extra-curricular activity is intense. Before you turn in registration forms, think through how each activity will impact both your children and your family’s priorities. Perhaps you want one day of the weekend free or you want to have dinner together four times a week. Once you have assessed your needs, ask yourself if each activity aligns with them. 2. You have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and while it may be easy
to provide a good breakfast for your kids, parents often forget about fueling up with the right breakfast for themselves. Perfect for eating on the go, belVita Soft Baked Breakfast Biscuits come in two varieties, Mixed Berry and Oats-& Chocolate. They provide 11 grams of whole grains and contain no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Grab a banana and a latte, and you have nutritious morning energy to help tackle whatever comes your way. 3. It may be easier said than done, but learn how to say “no.” Saying “no” gives you permission to say “yes” to things that are truly important to you. Next time you are asked to do something, let that person know that you need to check your calendar. That will give you time to decide if this new activity is truly worthy of your time, and
to craft a polite explanation, if not. 4. Finally, create a todo list that is realistic and achievable. Many people are guilty of having a huge to-do list and then feeling defeated at the end of the day when all of the boxes aren’t checked off. Often, a good chunk of things on that list probably have more to do with your own expectations than with what anyone else is expecting of you. Start a to-do list with three sections: the priority of the day for yourself, the priority of the day for your family and the priority of the day for your work. Start with these items and only move on to the others once they’re done. Chances are the laundry can wait until another day. Your children going back to school doesn’t have to be stressful. With these tips you can enjoy this exciting, coming of age time with your family.

Menchie’s is satisfying Aventura’s sweet tooth
AUGUST • AVENTURA DIGEST • PG 14
AVENTURA - Before Agnes Garcia sat down at the table with her grandson, Frank, the North Miami resident was telling a story about how she found Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Store. “I remember hearing about this place a few months ago,” Garcia said in a soft voice. “I checked out the website and have been coming here ever since.” What Garcia found, was that Menchie’s is not only a quality product, but one that promotes healthy, tasty and fun eating. The Aventura location alone, is proof of what this company has attempted to do, in what is a very competitive dessert market. “I like a place where the adults can feel as comfortable as the kids do,” Garcia explained. “When I come here with Frank or my daughter, we try different things, and choices are really fun.” It’s The Flavors No matter how you slice it, the selection of yogurt and toppings, along with the product’s high quality and all natural ingredients, are what has people coming back for more. ?There is something for everyone; from decadent, lowfat, rich flavors such as Takes the Cake Batter, Red Velvet Royale and Dulce De Leche to non-
dairy options such as Sweet Pink Lemonade, Island Mango and Honey Dew Melon Sorbets. They also offer no sugar added choices, such as Cheesecake, Strawberry Banana Medley and Mint. And by the way, they all happen to be Kosher too! “My favorite is the ICSB (Ice Cream Sandwich Bar),” Garcia said. “I will change that up sometimes with the Honey Graham Crumble. Frank loves Chocolate with the peanut butter cups.” Along with so many flavors, there is a seemingly endless array of toppings to put on top of the yogurt. Just peruse the extremely well stocked “Snackage” area and you’ll find dry toppings like Fruity & Cocoa Pebbles, chopped up Heath Bar, Kit Kat and Oreos and chilled toppings such as brownie & cheesecake bites, Popping Boba (commonly referred to as “bubbles” or “tapioca pearls” filled with juice that ‘pops’ inside your mouth for an invigorating and fun experience), and an assortment of fruits like Strawberry, Kiwi, Mango and Pineapple, which are cut fresh each morning and throughout the day as necessary. It’s Party Time Menchie’s Aventura is the perfect venue for your next party; from your
child’s 2nd birthday to your Grandpa’s 90th and everything in between. Menchie’s Aventura has a special party room, which is also ideal for corporate events, anniversaries, and holiday functions. When It All Began Menchie’s opened its first store in Valley Village, a suburban community of Los Angeles, on May 15, 2007, by husband & wife team Danna & Adam Caldwell. The Menchie’s concept emerged from a story of two lovebirds and their common love of frozen yogurt, when Adam took Danna to a frozen yogurt store on their first date; that was when Danna’s sweet tooth took over, and the world of frozen yogurt was never the same again. Smiling With Success Menchie, the mascot and part of the overall image, is a source of smiles, good feelings and an inspiration to the team members as well as kids and adults around the world. Menchie, with his sweet friends at his side, helps us deliver the products, services and experience that all together create smiles. Menchie’s objective is to “make you smile”. That smile is always present on Menchie’s face and ushers in the motto: People, Place, and Product.
The Future Is Bright Within the next 20 years, Menchie’s will be a worldwide network of identical frozen yogurt stores, serving the highest quality product with the highest level of service, while creating a happy experience for every guest. It will exceed $1 billion in sales and have more than 2,000 stores globally. Guests will be able to go to Menchie’s anywhere in the world and enjoy exactly the same experience every time: quality service, a quality product, a happy environment, a warm and friendly design, and cleanliness. Menchie’s is designed to serve all ethnic and economic classes. Although all types of people will be attracted to Menchie’s, it will appeal primarily to families with children and people who seek a happy, friendly frozen dessert experience with the ability to have the freedom of crafting their desires. Every aspect of Menchie’s will be standardized and tightly controlled. The menu at every store will consist of various yogurt flavors, dry goods, and fresh fruits that are partly adapted to the local market. There will also be a limited number of other items, and branded merchandise that will enhance the guest experience and develop the love for the brand in every guest. The Menchie’s strategy will unilaterally redefine, differentiate and elevate the perceived value of our guest’s in-store experience within the frozen dessert category. This will include stretching conventional thinking and boundaries by creating an experience that extends the brand beyond the product. Our guests will frequent our stores to seek added value multidimensional experiences that exist beyond and outside the core product realm. We will cultivate and set the tone of our category. There can only be one leader. Menchie’s will be designed for efficiency, cleanliness, attractiveness and guest self-service. Stores will have five areas: kitchen (not visible to guests), yogurt wall, topping stations, service circle and indoor/ outdoor seating. Team members will wear uniforms, follow exactly the same procedures, and will emphasize service, friendliness and above all, guest satisfaction. Menchie’s is located in the Aventura Town Center, 18839B Biscayne Blvd., Aventura 33180. They are open SundayThursday from 12 p.m.-11 p.m.. It’s Snow Time In Miami At The Arsht Center As Pure Magic And Enchantment Fill The Air By Eleanorr Hannan - Aventura Digest
Slava’s Snow Show, is a cross between Cirque du Soleil and the Blue Moon Group. This entertaining phenomenon takes the audience on an alluring 90 minute journey that is absolutely breathtaking and fun. They call him “the best clown in the world.” His Snow Show is celebrated as “A Theatre Classic of the 20th Century.” Recognition came unusually fast for Slava Polunin, and from that moment on, his fame was unstoppable. Slava doesn’t just do things. Everything he accomplishes in life is very well thought out. No matter how crazy or incredible the most adventurous feat is, he will not allow it to defeat him. In achieving his ideas he is very exact, cool and collected, and no
one can challenge him or change his mind. Evidently, his personality has never changed. He attended the Economic Institute of Engineering, in Novosil, a town in the Orlovsk province of Leningrad which he left, disappointing his mother’s dreams of him becoming an engineer. He began working in pantomime, he lovingly named “Expressive Idiotism,” bringing him a great deal of popularity. He was crowned as the artist laureate of Estrada, the Russian showbiz stage. The show is a fusion of traditional and contemporary theatrical clowning arts, that brilliantly creates a world of wonderment and fantasy transporting the audience into a joyous dreamland, where a bed becomes a boat in a storm-tossed sea,
a child walks inside a bubble, while Slava boards a train and then becomes the train, the chimney-pot hat billowing smoke, and a web of unspun cotton that completely surrounds the audience. The brilliant finale has a letter turn into snowflakes that turns into a snowstorm, whirling around the theatre leaving the audience ankle-deep in snow. Not recommended for children under 8 years. This remarkable world of wonder, a reminder that no one is ever too old to enjoy clowns, takes center stage in the Ziff Ballet Opera House now through August 25, 2013. For tickets and show time information call the box office at 305-949-6722, located at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami.

You may be seeing your romantic partner in a new light by now, and feel ready to take your relationship to a new level. You may be ready to promise exclusivity to each other, or even get engaged or married. Pisces (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Last month must have been a dream for you, Pisces, because you had a set of three planets supporting your every desire. Why Are Diabetic Shoes So Important? By Dr. Charlton Adler - Aventura Digest
Some of the more serious problems suffered by patients with diabetes include foot ailments caused by poor blood circulation or diabetic neuropathy. Since the symptoms of neuropathy can be pain or numbness that interferes with being able to feel injury or the pressure of a tight shoe that can break the skin, it is really important for a person with diabetes to pay special attention to their feet. Being prone to foot ulcers and the fact that high blood sugar is a deterrent to good healing puts them in jeopordy of developing non-healing wounds. There are several things that diabetics can do to help prevent foot problems, including careful daily foot care and inspection, regular exercise, adhering to diet and medicine schedules, seeing a podiatrist every three months, and wearing comfortable wellfitting shoes.
AUGUST • AVENTURA DIGEST • PG 18
Why diabetics need special shoes Not all diabetics need special shoes. However, many diabetics will at some point require these specially constructed shoes as their conditions worsen or as they experience foot injuries. Common diabetic foot ailments include blisters, cuts, swollen feet, and calluses. Often, as a result of neuropathy, diabetics are not even aware that they have these foot injuries until they get an infection or until they get around to inspecting their feet. Neuropathy is caused by poor circulation, a side effect of high blood sugar. The nerves become damaged resulting in a loss of sensation in the feet. This prevents the patient from feeling painful sensations in their feet that may be caused by cuts, blisters, and calluses. Without being able to feel these injuries, infections can develop that lead to nonhealing foot ulcers and possibly gangrene, leading to an amputation to save the limb. How diabetic shoes are different Diabetic shoes are different than other
types of shoes for a few reasons. They are wider and deeper than average shoes, which helps to ensure that the feet can move about freely without rubbing. Diabetic shoes are also built so that they usually do not have seams on the interior of the shoe that may cause rubbing against certain parts of the feet. Diabetic shoes also tend to be constructed in a more stable fashion than many other types of shoes, which means that diabetics may be less likely to twist an ankle or stumble while wearing them. How to buy diabetic shoes It is recommended that diabetic patients have shoes professionally fitted for their feet. The podiatrist is your best expert in assuring a perfect fit. The style is totally up to the individual. There is a vast selection of styles available from many manufacturers, including athletic shoes, casual shoes, sandals and dress shoes. In fact, we have a large display of fashionable diabetic shoes for men and women in our office. The bottom line is that people with diabetes, even borderline, should take preventive measures to take care of their feet. Diabetic shoes are designed and constructed to be comfortable and safe for diabetics. Talk to your podiatrist today.

Getting Help With Hospital Discharge By Terry Adler, CEO, Always Classic Care
Here is an interesting call I had this week. Perhaps you know someone in the same situation: My dad is coming out of the hospital next week. I live in Connecticut and he lives alone in North Miami Beach. I have to get home. My son is graduating this weekend and my daughter is getting married in 2 weeks. I’m so torn up over ev rything. Can you please help me? Of course. Dilemmas like this are our specialties. First of all, Always Classic Care works closely as a team with other professional groups. We can recommend an RN Geriatric Care Manager to meet with you immediately, take over from this point on, and relieve you of your anxiety about your dad. The care manager will work with the hospital Case Manager in completing all discharge planning, clarifying any confusion for your dad, carry out all orders, and work closely with Always Classic Care all along the way. Always Classic Care will assign one of our professionally trained and carefully screened aides for your dad, who will
meet him at the hospital, pack his clothes and belongings and accompany him home. The nurse care manager will supervise everything, including checking dad’s food status at home, any shopping to be done and a reconciliation of new medications versus his previous ones, as per the discharge orders. If there are any questions, contraindications or other problems, the nurse care manager will call your father’s physician for clarification. The care manager will make all follow-up appointments with dad’s doctors, and will meet your dad and his aide at the doctor’s office, interacting with the doctor as your father’s advocate. The care manager will call you with a report. If any skilled services are needed as per the hospital’s discharge order (such as wound care, physical therapy or diabetes management), Always Classic Care will arrange for that for your dad and the nurse care manager will oversee it. You will receive a regular email report on his progress, and you are welcome to call at any time. All services can continue or be discontinued at your discretion. Always Classic Care can supply an aide for your dad for
any amount of time you request from a few hours a day to 24/7 sleep-in, which can be adjusted as he progresses. Based on his needs, the aide can help with his showering and dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry , shopping and transportation to the doctor or other appointments. The aide can be male or female, can help with basic exercise like walking, constantly monitor for safety, and is trained to report any changes in dad’s condition immediately. I, as owner of Always Classic Care, personally oversee all of the aide activity, and work closely with the nurse care manager. What if my dad refuses this care, but I feel he needs it? Always Classic Care is part of a team of professionals. We can send a social worker or nurse to talk to your dad and explain the importance of having this care from a safety perspective. We will try to convince
him as to how at least for the first few days, until he regains his strength, this is important, and will get his physican involved, if needed. We will also reinforce how this would give you peace of mind, as well. However, the bottom line is, that if he is of sound mind and is making his own decisions, he has a right as a patient to refuse. If he allows us to come in, we can still provide some type of oversight, and would be glad to talk to you about it.
Hope these questions are helpful. With my 20+ years of experience as a cardiac and home health nurse, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding home health. Please feel free to email me at terry@alwaysclassiccare.com or call me at the Always Classic Care office: 305-403-2622. Remember, I am here for you.

How to lose a sweet tooth (BPT) - Most of us have been there at some point. You somehow find yourself barefoot in your kitchen at midnight, eating ice cream out of the container. Alternatively, the mid-afternoon energy slump has landed you in front of the vending machine pining for a package of candy. Maybe the kids didn’t exactly have to twist your arm to make brownies last weekend. And, by the way, is that whole sleeve of cookies really gone? How is it that, despite our most valiant efforts, a sugar craving can effortlessly throw a healthy way of life off track? And how do we combat these cravings in an effort to eat better? Get a handle on the basics. Hydration, protein intake and movement all play an important role in sugar cravings. In fact, it’s estimated that 75 percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated. “Lack of hydration is a real problem, because our bodies are primarily water,” says Cindi Lockhart, senior program manager for Health and Nutrition at Life Time Fitness. Adequate hydration is essential for energy, nutrient absorption and improved digestion, maintaining body
temperature, detoxification, easing joint pain, optimal mental function, younger appearance and weight control. Furthermore, by the time actual feelings of thirst set in, they’re often mistaken for hunger. “Naturally, as we reach for the nearest cupcake in an inadvertent attempt to resolve physiological thirst, our ‘cravings’ will not be satiated,” says Samantha Bielawski, registered dietician and personal trainer at Life Time Fitness. Optimizing protein intake can also help stabilize blood sugar spikes and crashes, which cause an energy level roller coaster and an endless cycle of cravings for sugar and carbohydrates throughout the day. “A lot of my clients are shocked to learn their true protein needs and are pleasantly surprised when they are liberated from the urge to eat every two to three hours,” says Bielawski. Bielawski says movement and exercise can also impact your sweet tooth. “Not only will a walk distract you from the nearby vending machine fare, but you’ll also enjoy the non-sugar-inducedserotonin boost. Add some sun exposure - especially during the midday slump, and you’ll feel naturally invigorated.”
Ditch healthy labels. Recently, there’s been an increase in the amount of healthy labels gracing products in grocery store aisles. Even still, Bielawski says it’s important to choose wisely. “Every nutrition choice either moves you toward health or away from it. In my experience as a dietitian, most foods plastered with flashy labeling and elephant-sized font proclaiming their healthy qualities are anything but.” She says processed foods that are unrecognizable in nature are typically high in carbohydrate and grossly lacking in hunger-busting protein and fat. Processed carbohydrates like these give a temporary high, possibly fueling sugar addiction, but what goes up must come down. Healthier options include a handful of cashews, hard-boiled eggs or Greek yogurt topped with grain-free granola. “The bottom line is man-made food rarely provides nourishment. We should all try to stick with unprocessed, natural foods whenever possible,” says Bielawski. Arm yourself with adequate sleep. Research shows when healthy adults are sleep-deprived they tend to crave carbohydrates and can develop disruption to normal blood sugar regulation. “This means your body is even more apt
to add that sugary intake directly to your midsection,” says Bielawski. Retrain your taste buds. “One of the Life Time Weight Loss Support Groups I am involved in found added sugars in everything from gravy mix to canned mushroom soup, and I am confident that those specific foods don’t taste overtly sweet to the average American,” says Bielawski. Experts agree that our sweet sensors require much more sugar now than they ever have before to actually promote the sensation of “sweet.” The answer, however, isn’t simply transitioning to chemically fortified sugar free alternatives to enjoy at liberty. “While an artifically-sweetened dessert is OK as an occasional treat, any dessert food - whatever the sweetener shouldn’t take up a substantial portion of your diet,” Bielawski notes. “While it may sound extreme, going cold-turkey on sugar can go a long way in turning down those taste buds to their natural subtlety.” Bielawski adds that we might even find ourselves fully satisfied with the silky sweetness of roasted beets or the vivid taste of fresh summer raspberries, no longer needing the taste of a diet soda, which is a very good problem to have.
Affected by diabetes? Important facts and developments you should know (BPT) - A disease so prevalent that it is labeled an epidemic in America, diabetes affects nearly 26 million children and adults, according to the American Diabetes Association (the Association). As this number grows, so does the urgency of finding a cure. Health experts around the world research type 1, type 2 and gestational dia-
betes in hopes of discovering a cure. More than 13,000 top scientists, physicians and other health care professionals will share their cutting-edge research, treatment recommendations and other diabetes advances at the Association’s 73rd annual Scientific Sessions in Chicago June 21 to 25, 2013. Although Scientific
Sessions is primarily for medical professionals, its core is about improving the lives of people affected by diabetes - shaping the direction of research, technology and care with a focus on treatment and prevention and ultimately finding a cure for this devastating disease. You don’t need to be a health expert to benefit from the information

Staying informed is an important part of managing a diabetes diagnosis. The Association helps those affected by diabetes sort through the information out there and better understand the facts. Here are some of the top myths and misconceptions about diabetes: Myth: Diabetes is not that serious of a disease. Fact: Diabetes causes more deaths a year than breast cancer and AIDS
combined. Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke. Myth: If you are overweight or obese, you will eventually develop type 2 diabetes. Fact: Being overweight is just one risk factor; other risk factors are family history, ethnicity and age. Most overweight people never develop type 2 diabetes, and many people with type 2 diabetes are at a normal weight. Myth: People with diabetes should eat special diabetic foods. Fact: A healthy meal plan for people with diabetes is generally the same as a healthy diet for anyone - low in fat (especially saturated and trans fat), moderate in salt and sugar, with meals based on whole grain foods, vegetables and fruit.
Diabetic and “dietetic” foods generally offer no special benefit. Myth: People with diabetes can’t eat sweets. Fact: If eaten as part of a healthy meal plan, sweets and desserts can be eaten by people with diabetes. The key to sweets is to have a very small portion and save them for special occasions. Myth: People with diabetes are more likely to get colds and other illnesses. Fact: You are no more likely to get a cold or another illness if you have diabetes. However, people with diabetes are advised to get flu shots. This is because any illness can make diabetes more difficult to control, and therefore serious complications are more likely to develop.

Margie: (954) 270-1786 Maple cabinets by Wellborn, stained in a rich gray tone, complemented by a charcoal stained cherry island and contrasting hardwood floor, provide a striking kitchen redo. “Many homeowners overlook the low cost and high impact of re-facing their existing kitchen cabinets,” he says. “By swapping out dated doors and drawer pulls, a homeowner can get the look of a newly updated kitchen and save up to 50 percent of the cost of a complete overhaul. Cabinet re-facing is a quick-moving project and the kitchen remains functional throughout installation.” Value in the details Architectural details - hardwood crown moulding, baseboards and other millwork - add depth and character, provide a finished look, and change lackluster to extraordinary, so much so that according to the 2012 National Association of Home Builders’ “What Home Buyers Really Want” study, crown moulding ranks higher than other luxury features such as fireplaces, kitchen seating and window seats. Strader agrees. “From my experience, millwork adds the ‘wow’ factor that stays in a buyer’s mind. And most sellers are unaware that a custom look can be obtained relatively inexpensively with offthe-shelf moulding patterns available at home improvement stores.” The American Hardwood Information Center offers some additional tips to keep costs low. For crown and other decorative ceiling mouldings, consider using a less expensive species such as poplar. Where durability is a must, such as baseboards, door casings and chair rails, consider a harder species, like white oak. (BPT) - The residential housing market is heating up, but before you post that forsale sign, consider making upgrades that add style and value to your home. With many buyers seeking wood floors, kitchen upgrades and other add-ons, it’s important for homeowners to highlight these features so their property stands out from the competition in today’s market. “It all comes down to dollars and ‘sense,’ “ says Linda Jovanovich of the American Hardwood Information Center. “In addition to warmth, beauty and durability, hardwood features increase your home’s resale value. Even with a modest budget, if you take the time and price your options, updating worn floors, dated cabinetry, and lackluster walls will make a significant difference. And it’s easier and less expensive than you think.” Survey says hardwood floors sell When it’s time to sell, hardwood floors not only add good looks, they increase the value of your home. According to a nationwide survey of real estate agents commissioned by the National Wood Flooring Association in 2012, 99 percent of respondents agreed that homes with hardwood floors are easier to sell. In addition, 90 percent said these homes sell for more money. “Absolutely true,” says Bob Strader, a real estate agent with The NORTH Group of Keller Williams Realty in Atlanta. “Between two similar properties, buyers will gravitate toward the home with hardwood floors, and that home will sell in half the time.” Debbie Gartner, known as “The Flooring Girl” by customers at her New York-based flooring store, agrees and says quality increases value. “Hardwood sells,” notes Gartner, adding that you’re in luck if you already have a hardwood floor under a carpet. “Clients are shocked when I tell them it’s almost always less expensive to refinish a hardwood floor than it is to recarpet a room.” What about the kitchen? Real estate agent Strader advises sellers to “upgrade their kitchens prior to going on the market because buyers see kitchen upgrades as being rather expensive.” He adds that, “Homes without updated kitchens will take longer to sell, and will sell for less.” Gerry Henley, president of Kitchen Solvers, a national kitchen and bath remodeling franchise, suggests simple cabinetry updates that won’t break the bank but will result in a higher return on your investment. And hardwood products offer plenty of options.

REAL ESTATE Positive attitudes inspire renters to buy (BPT) - Owning a home has been an integral element of the American Dream for generations. But is ownership right for you? And if it is, how do you know if it’s the right time in your life to purchase a home? Thirty-two percent of American households are renters, according to the National Multi Housing Council. Generally, more people younger than 30 occupy rentals, while the percentage of people who own their home increases with age, NMHC statistics indicate. People decide to buy a home for many reasons, but the recent real estate market downturn caused many Americans to rethink their assumptions about renting and owning. Even with many real estate experts predicting the market will continue to improve, it pays to carefully evaluate how home ownership does - or doesn’t - figure into your long-term financial goals. 1. Renting isn’t always the cheaper option, and comparing your monthly rent payment directly to a mortgage payment won’t give you a clear picture of the financial impact of either option. Online calculators, like Guaranteed Rate’s rent vs. buy online calculator, can give you a better understanding of the comparison. With mortgage rates consistently low and rental markets competitive across the country, real estate experts agree that in most major metropolitan areas it will still be cheaper in the long run to buy than continue to rent. 2. While the days of zero-money-down mortgages are essentially over, it’s a misconception that you need a huge amount of money to buy a house. Yes, you’ll almost certainly need a down payment, but
different lenders will require different percentages. Research your mortgage options before you begin house hunting so you’ll know how much you’ll need to save in order to secure a mortgage - and the home of your dreams. 3. Although the mortgage application process is detailed, it doesn’t have to be drawn out and tedious. Many lenders now allow you to initiate the process online, and Guaranteed Rate has recently overhauled its website to allow borrowers to apply for a loan, track the approval process and receive their home loans all online. The eighth-largest retail mortgage company in the U.S. allows customers to choose and customize their loans, submit an application and receive an official approval letter all at www.guaranteedrate. com. Automating the application process compresses the traditional time frame from days sometimes, even weeks into minutes. As part of the process, applicants also receive the credit reports from all three major credit bureaus. 4. Buying a home affords you the opportunity to really grow your roots, but the flipside is that in order to get the most out of your investment, you need to stay put for a while. If you anticipate being in your current job and living in your current town for at least five years, the long-term investment of buying a house will make more sense for you. If you anticipate a job change or a move within a few years, you may want to hold off on buying a house. The good news is, doing so gives you more time to save toward a down payment when you are ready to buy.
