CITY NEWS Florida Department of Health Launches New COVID-19 Community Action Survey The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has announced the launch of a new community action survey, StrongerThanC19, designed to aid Florida as the state continues to fight the spread of COVID-19. This cutting-edge tool gives residents the power to unite in the fight to help slow the spread of coronavirus in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis said, “In addition to helping our state better identify and predict coronavirus trends in Florida, the StrongerThanC-19 community action survey will also guide users through the next ‘STEPS’ of preparedness and prevention measures. This will serve as another crucial instrument in helping to reinforce Florida’s ongoing efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19 across the state.” Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees said, “We are asking residents to take two minutes out of their day to take the
StrongerThanC-19 community action survey and answer the brief series of questions provided. The responses will be used to help the Department improve the distribution of resources to support healthcare and other initiatives across the state.” Florida residents are encouraged to do their part in helping Florida flatten the curve by anonymously answering questions that range from age and
residency, to recent travel, to potential COVID-19 contact. The StrongerThanC-19 community action survey is designed to gather information to help the Department track and slow the spread of COVID-19 in Florida; it is not a symptom checker designed to dispense medical advice. The StrongerThanC-19 community action survey is free to use and can be accessed by visiting: StrongerThanC19 .com.

Staying inside may be a bit boring and monotonous, but it’s necessary to combat the current health crisis. Turn that monotony into productivity, try new recipes with your family, or check out some virtual exercise and educational seminars. Whether you use cookbooks, online recipes or follow chefs on social media, test out a recipe you always wanted to try, but never had time for.
Virtual Exercise & Educational Seminars 316 Million Residents Are Being Asked To Stay At Home According to a recent report, about 316 million residents are being asked to stay at home. In a matter of a few weeks, millions of Americans have been asked to do what would have been unthinkable only a few months ago: Don’t go to work, don’t go to school, don’t leave the house at all, unless you have to. With schools shifting to online classes, bars and restaurants closed to patrons and most people working from home, Americans are spending more time at home than ever before. So, what are they doing with their time? To help you embrace your introverted side, here are six stay-at-home activities to consider before Netflix or snacking get old from Rebecca Gramuglia, Consumer Expert at TopCash back.com: • Organize. Dedicate your newfound time and attention to sorting and organizing your
home. Whether it’s a hall closet, bookshelf or makeup drawer, go through these cluttered areas and organize them. Use your judgment and toss anything that is extremely worn out, falling apart or unusable. For makeup, go through the products and toss whatever is old and expired. • Start a blog. Now is the time to let your creative juices flow and let your voice be heard. Whether it’s fashion, beauty, travel, fitness, cooking or something else, a blog may be a great creative outlet for you to show off your passions and skills. Be yourself and the following will come. • Learn something new. Looking to refresh your skills or want to simply learn something new like French, sewing or even playing the piano? Whether you need storage bins, activities for your kids or other supplies, be sure to look for ways to save by shopping via a cashback site like TopCashback.com. You can earn cashback on all qualifying purchases from stores like The Container Store, Target and more.
• Try new recipes. Whether you use cookbooks, online recipes or follow chefs on social media, test out a recipe you’ve recently been eyeing. Now is the time to perfect it and when life returns to normal, invite friends and family over to show off the yummy dishes you’ve mastered.
• Have a stargazing night. The skies haven’t been this clear in a very long time, so take advantage of it. Grab a blanket and a telescope (or binoculars!) to explore the endless possibilities the night sky holds. It’s rewarding, educational and an inexpensive activity you can do from your own backyard or

CITY NEWS Use of Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19 Sewn Cloth Face Covering Materials • Two 10”x 6” rectangles of cotton fabric • Two 6” pieces of elastic (or rubber bands, string, cloth strips, or hair ties) • Needle and thread (or bobby pin) • Scissors • Sewing machine 1.
Effective April 10th the City of Aventura will require all employees and customers of grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants to wear a form of covering over their nose and mouth at all times while inside the grocery store, pharmacy, or restaurant facility. All individuals providing delivery services will be required to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth while making deliveries. The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission. CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.
Should cloth face coverings be washed or otherwise cleaned regularly? How regularly? Yes. They should be routinely washed depending on the frequency of use. How does one safely remove a used cloth face covering? Individuals should be careful not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth when removing their cloth face covering and wash hands immediately after removing.

How to Wear Cloth Face Coverings Cloth face coverings should: • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face • be secured with ties or ear loops • include multiple layers of fabric • allow for breathing without restriction • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
Tutorial 1. Cut out two 10-by-6inch rectangles of cotton fabric. Use tightly woven cotton, such as quilting fabric or cotton sheets. Tshirt fabric will work in a pinch. Stack the two rectangles; you will sew the cloth face covering as if it was a single piece of fabric.

5 Insurance Coverages Every Homeowner Should Have By Brian Wisniewski, Esq.
Homeownership is the symbol of the American dream-come-true. Beyond the sense of accomplish-
To avoid coming up short if you ever need to file a claim, the first step is making sure you’ve invested in the following five insurance coverages:
Proper Limits for Personal Valuables Most standard homeowner insurance policies have very low limits for precious items like jewelry, furs, art, and silverware. If you own these valuable items, you should consider increasing your coverage to properly protect them. Mold Coverage In addition to the health hazards mold exposure causes, it also can wreak havoc with your wallet. The standard homeowner’s mold coverage is usually a maximum of $10,000. With even treating the most basic mold infestation, this is not nearly enough money to cover professional mold remediation costs. You should seriously consider investing in higher mold coverage.
Replacement Cost Insurance If you’ve lived in your home for many years, things will cost more to replace today than they did when you originally purchased them. Superior to Actual Cost Value Replacement Cost insurance coverage provides you with the amount to replace the lost item as opposed to their original cash value. Adequate Coverage Unless you buy homeowners insurance equal to 80 percent of your home’s value, most insurance companies won’t cover the full cost of damages. This is the central reason you must not skimp on the proper amount of coverage for your home. It is imperative to make sure you have the right amount

of coverage for your dwelling. Mandatory Appraisal, Mediation, or Arbitration Provision Does your policy have a mandatory appraisal, mediation, or arbitration provision? If it doesn’t, you are not fully protected in the most common disputes that typically occur when the cost of repairing damage exceeds the amount of money your insurance company offers
to cover. You’d be wise to anticipate such disputes and protect yourself by having mandatory approval, mediation, or arbitration provision include in your contract. The high cost of insurance makes it tempting to spend as little as possible on coverage, but it is in your best interest as a homeowner to protect against huge losses by having the right insurance coverage in place.

ment it confers, owning real estate can build equity for your retirement days and offer some tax advantages. If you’ve purchased wisely and within your means, buying a home can be one of the best longterm investments you can make. On the other hand, the responsibility of owning and maintaining a home sits squarely on your shoulders, with no landlord to call when a pipe breaks, the roof leaks, or a fire burns it to the ground. It’s your responsibility as the owner to have all the necessary insurance policies in place to protect your home from serious financial risk. Make no mistake, the risks are real. Every day, we read of natural disasters causing catastrophic devastation to property. In Florida, Hurricane Michael caused an estimated $25 billion in insured damages. In Texas, damage from Hurricane Harvey was an estimated $125 billion. AccuWeather recently estimated total damage and economic loss caused by named storms in 2019 to be $22 billion in the U.S. and $5 billion in the Bahamas. If your home is damaged or destroyed, the road to recovery consists of negotiating your claim with your insurance company to recover the full benefits you’re entitled to
under the policy you purchased. Expect your insurance company to approach your claims with a bias in their favor and consider getting other opinions from public adjusters and attorneys who specialize in representing claimants before accepting their offer for paying your claim. It is not unusual for the process of settling your claim and repairing or replacing your home to take a year or longer, so the fewer challenges you face, the better.
