If a denture patient has sufficient bone mass to create a rock hard placement of the tiny implant, which an experienced dentist can usually determine by an initial examination, the mini dental implants will generally withstand normal chewing forces just like natural teeth. Fractures are extremely rare, but as the case with a person’s normal teeth, can certainly occur.

ident of Hollywood for more than 48 years and is a civic activist, community leader and business person. Sobel is someone that generations grew up with in this community. In addition to her many years in her hometown, she has had the opportunity to rub elbows with some of the elite in national politics as well. A longtime city resident, he's served over a decade on the city's planning and zoning board, a spot that's given him a closeup view of the city's challenges. Kiwanis Club of Dania Beach hosts its second annual Halloween Bash By Steve Summings Dania Beach - The Kiwanis Club of Dania Beach hosted its second annual Halloween Bash at the I.T. Parker Community Center in Dania Beach on Friday evening, October 21st where patrons dressed in costume there was dancing, music and a delectable buffet catered by Dominick Del Pozzo, owner of Culinary Affairs in Fort Lauderdale. Kiwanis Club President, Dr. Chander Gupta, owner of Brighten Dental in Dania Beach and his daughter Chandrally Mahajan(known as Chun) worked feverishly decorating the hall in the eerie, lugubrious spirit of Halloween where music was provided by DJ Scott Evans for your dancing pleasure. They were assisted by club members Jessica and Rose Lizana. Costumes ranged from the wicked witch to the Ice Princess and even one individual sporting a President Barack Obama look alike mask. Many beverages were available and the club raffled off a 50 inch Vizio television. Dr. Gupta hired Dominick Del Pozzo to cater the food which was a scrumptious Cuban Cuisine dinner. I have sampled Dominick’s cooking at other events and his cooking is terrific. The Dania Beach Lion’s Club had several members in attendance and have formed a great partnership with Kiwanis supporting each other’s events. The money raised will support UNICEF and the Kiwanis Horses and Handicap charity as this Kiwanis Club enjoys a long history of community service and generosity. The Kiwanis Club of Dania Beach has hosted many profitable golf tournaments in the past at the Hollywood Beach Golf Resort and has raised funds selling Christmas trees among other projects. Here are some tasty sweets that every member of your family will find very delicious. Try them and see how things change this year! Candy Corn Ice Cream • 3 c. heavy cream • 1 14- oz. can sweetened condensed milk • 1 tsp. vanilla extract • 2-4 drops each red, yellow, • and orange food coloring • 10 plastic dessert cups • 10 candy corns, for decorating In a large bowl using a hand mixer or whisk, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until completely combined. Separate mixture evenly into three separate bowls. In one bowl, add 2 drops each red and yellow food coloring to form your orange ice cream layer. (Con-

Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or according to box instructions. Let cool to room temperature, then cut into squares. Microwave marshmallows until gooey and melted, about 30 seconds. (It’ll still look lumpy.) Using a fork, stir until smooth and let cool slightly. Using two forks, stretch about a tablespoon of the melted marshmallow into a thin strand to drape over the brownies. Repeat to create a web-like pattern. Serve immediately or store for 1-2 days. Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie • 1 c. apple butter • 1 c. pumpkin • ½ c. brown sugar • ½ tsp. salt • ¾ tsp. ground cinnamon • ¾ tsp. ground nutmeg • 13 tsp. ground ginger • 3 eggs • ¾ c. evaporated milk
• 1 unbaked pie shell • 1 egg white • Whipped cream Adjust oven rack to lowest position. Preheat oven to 425ºF. Combine apple butter, pumpkin, brown sugar, salt and spices in a bowl. Stir in eggs. Gradually add milk and mix well, using electric mixer. Brush pie shell with egg white, coating lightly; discard remaining egg white. Pierce holes in bottom of crust with a fork. Pour apple-butter mixture into prepared pie shell; bake 15 minutes, then lower oven temperature to 350ºF. Bake 35 minutes more until center is slightly puffed and jiggles a little bit when pan is tapped. Cool until still slightly warm on wire rack. Serve with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon, if desired. Pumpkin Pudding • 2 tbsp Cornstarch • 6 tbsp Sugar • 1 3/4 cup Milk • 1 Egg • 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree • 1 tsp Vanilla • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon • dash Salt • dash Nutmeg Whisk together egg and milk in a bowl. Set aside. Whisk together sugar and cornstarch in a medium pan over medium heat. Slowly add milk egg mixture to pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Gradually add pumpkin mixture to pan, whisking constantly until blended. Return pan to low heat and cook for 3-4 minutes until heated throughout, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, transfer to serving dishes and refrigerate to chill.

CARDIO: Too much of a good thing? dog or mowing the lawn. People often justify inactivity in the hours after a strenuous workout. Most experts recommend getting the majority of your movement throughout the day instead of condensing it into one particular segment.
(BPT) - Does your exercise routine live and die by the treadmill? Does your workout consist of an hour on the elliptical? While you can't ignore the positive impact aerobic exercise has on your health, it may not be the dream weight-loss solution you hope for. "It seems an awful lot of people walk, jog, run and cycle on a regular basis, hoping the time spent on the treadmill, bike or trail will equate to
drastic weight loss results," says Paul Kriegler, registered dietitian and nutrition program manager for Life Time Fitness. "There's a fair amount of research on how much cardio is best for realizing health benefits, but there are a few factors that could be compromising those benefits for you." You're doing cardio, but moving less throughout the rest of the day.
Think about this: you wake up early, get to your health club and work hard for a solid hour, spinning your legs until they feel like jelly. A puddle of sweat surrounds your bike and your heart rate monitor says you burned 950 calories. That's great, until later on, you forgo your normal walking break because you feel too worn out. And later that evening, you catch a nap before dinner rather than walking the

In fact, according to a study in PubMed, large amounts of cardio training have been shown to induce compensatory eating patterns, especially in women. It's easy to get into this mindset, but exercise is far more than just a way to expend calories. Well-planned, properly executed bouts of activity can stimulate your body to go through incredible changes, but not if you're using food
as a reward. All your cardio sessions are the same. Cardio can be helpful for getting a little solitude or zone out time, but doing the same workout every day when you're looking for results is definitely not the answer. A good exercise program incorporates variability from one workout to the next. Your body has a few major energy systems, and they all need to be challenged over time. After a warm welcome by Chairlady VERONICA FUCHS, guest speakers mesmerized the appreciative crowd at the Miami Shores Country Club. Starting with the multi-faceted SAGE HOFFMAN, who donated a kidney to her then boyfriend. After awaiting the time it took to confirm that she was a match for the transplant, they both came through the surgeries with flying colors and wedding rings! To an already moved and emotional audience of supporters, New President, JACKIE EDWARDS, shed some tears as she introduced guest speaker, HEIDI ANDERSON with her little three-year old DEANNA. This adorable child was born with a rare liver disease, and after seven terrifying months of medical care, it was determined by the doctors at MTI, that she needed a transplant. Heidi expressed her thanks to both MTI and staff, and to Leading Ladies for supporting this cause. After a delicious buffet lunch, it was Showtime: A Tribute to Cole Porter by Veronica and PETER FUCHS. It was “Another Openin’ Another Show”, featuring Leading Ladies own professional performers. g n i t t e S “ d r o c e R e th ” t h g i a r t S As you know, I have been a committed public servant for many years, as well as a wife, mother and now grandmother. Family and Community mean the world to me. As your Mayor of Hallandale Beach, you have always counted on me to “Set the Record Straight” and I will not disappoint you today. The negative and absurd campaign attacking the integrity of myself, other elected officials, City Administration and staff must stop. Commissioner London ran the same type of negative and misinformation campaign against me in 2012, and now four years later, one more time he is attempting to create a distorted image of our wonderful City, Hallandale Beach. You, our residents deserve more. While we proved by working together as a community that Keith London was not the choice of the voters in 2012 to be our leader, he is still hungry for the power. The only race he won in 2012, was the election of Commissioner Michelle Lazarow. While he lost and his other crony candidates lost, Lazarow won by only one vote to a four year term. Today, London is only dedicated to saving Lazarow’s seat and to gaining control of most of our city commission- his mission is working hard on behalf of candidates Lazarow and Taub in the election. Not our city. While all three of them are under various investigations for their inappropriate activities, they continue to work to tear down, and not build up our City. At my request as your Mayor, the City hired a Parliamentarian to assist me in bringing decorum and professionalism to our dais. The inappropriate outbursts and name calling, and constant belittling of our professional staff needed to stop Our job as an elected official with the guidance of our professional staff is to act and vote for the best interests of our residents and taxpayers. It is not to act in self-interest or on behalf of the special interests of “big corporations” who are funding their campaigns and their PACs. I am appalled that these three individuals, London, Lazarow and Taub are working as a pack of dissidents, claiming to “clean up our city of corruption.” However, as I keep telling the press, FOLLOW THE MONEY!
The press have reported the State Attorney’s criminal investigation into London and Lazarow, after her uncontrollable outburst at a meeting telling people what Keith London was going to do with an agenda item, before he even spoke. That calls for a criminal investigation into their potential violation of the Florida Sunshine Laws. Keith London and Taub have also been reported to the Inspector General (who opened an investigation) for using city property and equipment for operating her campaign, at tax payer’s expense, and in violation of the Florida Election Laws. Taub and her Mother stood up, yelling and shouting out at those of us on the dais who don’t follow the paths of London and Lazarow. They both had to be told by the Chief of the Police they could be removed from the commission meeting for disruptive behavior. At one meeting recently, the police did exactly that, but it was London and Lazarow the Police chose to remove. We demand better from our elected officials, and you deserve better than that! Follow the Money - Important to follow the money. Forrest City, the original developer of The Village at Gulfstream Park affordable housing and traffic relief was promised to our city in exchange for their “big corporation” to receive tax relief from our City. However, today, neither project has been provided by Gulfstream. However, Gulfstream wishes to still collect that Tax Increment Money (TIF FUNDS) of $ 500,000.00. Our lawyers disagree, and it’s now in litigation. But Lazarow and London voted in favor of the demands of Gulfstream. Bill Julian stood up to Gulfstream last April and again this past September. Lazarow and London claim they want to address traffic. They have been the consistent TWO NO VOTES to stop the City from acquiring needed easements The expert studies to date show that the access to the easement behind Gulfstream stables would reduce our Hallandale Beach Boulevard traffic by 25%!! They also voted to complete the engineering and economic evaluations recommended by our legal counsel.
Vice Mayor Bill Julian, Myself and Commissioner Sanders voted to have the City move forward with the study. Even though, Vice Mayor Julian’s entire family roots were in the thoroughbred industry, Bill Julian had the guts to call out London and Lazarow publicly and asked them who did they work for - Gulfstream or the Residents! Vice Mayor Bill Julian did his job as a commissioner! And he is now paying the price for his demands on Gulfstream to satisfy the terms of their Developers’ Agreement. Today, Gulfstream is now funding the campaigns of Lazarow and Taub, as well as a PAC created in support of their candidacy, called Ethics Matter That is the deal, and the proof is in the public records (Hallandale Beach 2016 Municipal Elections website and the Florida Division of Elections website). The Developer and his General Counsel have bragged in our City that it’s their goal to gain a majority control of the Commission as they need two years to buy time and end the City’s efforts moving forward. That is what “big corporations” do when they can’t get their way. It’s called hostile takeovers. London, Lazarow and Taub appear to be fine with that, if Gulfstream funds are filling their coffers for election and paid media. I am recommending that you vote to keep Bill Julian on the Commission. He is our only Veteran serving on the dais, and volunteers with many charities in our City, because he cares for the people. As many of you know, Bill Julian did not own his home in Hallandale as he chose a different direction. He lived at home with his mother caring for her and providing for her until her passing away last month. And I ask that you vote for Alexander Lewy. It’s disgraceful that an Ad Campaign has been launched to make you believe he is a gun happy NRA person. The photo they are circulating is one of Alexander Lewy attending and graduating from the FBI Citizens Academy He has been tested and vetted in their programs, besides the wonderful programs he voted and supported during his prior time in service. Today, he is married to a public school teacher, Jessica, and they recently purchased their own home with a baby on the way. Alex previously worked for the American/Israel Political Action Committee (AIPAC) and currently works for the Alzheimer’s Organization. I have worked with Alex in the past, and our residents would be fortunate to have him back. Look at his voting record, which includes funding for Parks, Senior Programs, Road Improvements, Community Bussing, just to name a few. All projects that Michelle Lazarow said No to. And Michelle Lazarow even said No to supporting a resolution asking the State of Florida to act and fund South Florida in their battle against the Zika virus. For these reasons, I have and will remain committed to support and endorse the candidates that stand up for our residents, Alexander Lewy and Bill Julian. On another note, and I promise this is the end, it’s so important that the residents vote Yes on the 1/2 penny sales tax for Transportation and Yes on the 1/2 penny sales tax for Infrastructure. We can move Broward forward, and hold our tourists responsible as well. Tourists will pay 30% of their money funded by the Sales Tax Increase, a contribution towards the impact they too have on our community. Thank you for giving me this time and platform, but as your Mayor, I feel a responsibility to Set the Record Straight!

Stiletto Walk preceding the Cancer Event has become a staple to help raise funds for area cancer organizations. Women and men dressed in pink to show support in the battle against breast cancer. Many of the men wore Tshirts emblazoned with

HBCRA making dreams come true
Helping families become firsttime homeowners in this highly-successful program Jennie Brooks cuts the ribbon outside of her new home as one of the latest new Hallandale Beach homeowners in the Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (HBCRA) In-Fill Housing Phase II project, last Wednesday. The HBCRA has helped many families become first-time homeowners in this highly-successful program. HBCRA works with prospective homebuyers to become financial responsibility and on the track toward homeownership. The HBCRA program returns non-productive lands to the property tax rolls through
homeownership.
