All I have to say after our weekend brush with Tropical Storm Isaac is we are in a lot of trouble. It is more than evident that we are NOT ready for anything more than a rain and wind event here in South Florida, and thanks to our good friends at Florida Power & Light, things were made worse. What was my first clue that if a hurricane hits, we are in major trouble? Well, for one, this was nothing more than a rain and wind event that didn't hamper people from getting around finding things, and still, there were problems.
Chamber welcomes new business to the city
Last week, Mayor Joy Cooper and members of the Hallandale Beach Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed Sign-A-Rama and owner Jose Ramirez, to the city - with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Sing-A-Rama is located at 123 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. 954-374-8821.

When we tell you to prepare, it's not for you to ride around, going to the beach and getting in everyone's way. When you are told to put up shutters and secure your property - just in case the storm intensifies or spawns tornadoes, you do it. As I rode into Miami - South Miami and other parts of South Florida, I was amazed, no, make that floored, that nobody listened to a thing that was told them. Sure, people ran out to get water and canned foods, but they acted is if this was an option.
