The recent legislation for destination casinos in the state of Florida failed, leaving area venues such as Dania Jai Alai, Mardi Gras Casino and Gulfstream Racing and Casino still hanging on - paying an absurd tax rate. Do those who vote on such things really understand that blocking progress during this recession could end up dooming the entire cash-strapped state?

How long can facilities such as Mardi Gras come up with creative ideas to bring people in when the state is giving them no breaks at all when it comes to taxes? We’ll see over the next year!
