Suntell Turns 30

Our CEO, Ronnie Wooten, looks back on three decades of Suntell: the credit file that had legs, the road trips, and the people who built it, back when the whole office shared a single internet cord.

In 1998, I was the credit administration manager at a bank To explain that job, I have to tell you about the file

Every customer had one.

It was thick It was heavy And it appeared to have legs

If the borrower had a complex relationship, there might be several files, which meant moving them was less office work and more small warehouse operation

Every new loan request meant the file started traveling.

Remembering Ross Nichol

We want to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of Ross Nichol, a longtime member of the Suntell team

Ross spent nearly two decades with Suntell as our Business Development Representative, focusing much of his time on lead generation, outbound calling, and helping create new opportunities for the company. His work often happened at the very beginning of a relationship, long before a demonstration, proposal, or signed agreement

Ross opened the door on countless relationships that became long-term partnerships. His fingerprints are all over Suntell's story.

He was persistent, loyal, and dedicated to his work, consistently introducing Suntell to financial institutions and helping build relationships that, in many cases, later became long-term customer partnerships

Ross’s commitment over the years played a meaningful role in Suntell’s growth and longevity. We are grateful for the time he gave to the company, the relationships he helped start, and the part he played in Suntell’s story

He will be remembered as a dedicated member of our team, and we appreciate the many years he spent helping move Suntell forward

If your institution has worked with Suntell for a while, there's a good chance Ross is part of how that started. He gave nearly two decades to this work, and to the people in it. Thank you, Ross.

Introducing the Suntell Customer Advisory Council

At Suntell, we believe the best ideas come from the people who use our software every day. That belief is what led us to launch the Suntell Customer Advisory Council (CAC)

The CAC brings together a group of customers from different financial institutions and roles to provide direct feedback on their experiences, challenges, and ideas Through regular virtual meetings, council members will help us better understand the realities of today's lending environment and identify opportunities to make Square 1 Credit Suite even more valuable

Our first meeting was dedicated to listening. Rather than focusing on product demonstrations or new features, we asked participants to share where they experience the most friction in their lending process, where manual work still exists, and where technology could better support their teams.

The conversation generated thoughtful discussion and valuable insights that will help shape future product priorities.

The purpose of the council is not simply to collect feedback It is to identify common themes, understand the challenges our customers face, and ensure our product roadmap reflects the needs of the institutions we serve As we continue these discussions, we will also explore opportunities to leverage automation and artificial intelligence in practical ways that simplify workflows and improve efficiency.

We are grateful to the customers who have committed their time and expertise to this initiative Their willingness to share candid feedback is invaluable, and we look forward to continuing these conversations in the months ahead. For nearly 30 years, our customers have played an important role in shaping our solutions The CAC is a natural extension of that partnership, and we are excited to build the future of Square 1 Credit Suite together.

A New Look and Expanded Capabilities Coming to SpreadIQTM

In our last newsletter, we introduced SpreadIQ as part of our continued effort to help financial institutions reduce manual data entry and streamline the credit analysis process.

This summer, SpreadIQ is getting both a new look and expanded functionality

The updated design is cleaner, more modern, and easier to navigate, giving users a more intuitive experience while also offering a preview of where we are headed with future enhancements across Square 1 Credit Suite.

Even more exciting, SpreadIQ is expanding to support business financial statement spreading With this enhancement, SpreadIQ will be able to read PDF financial statements, harvest relevant data, and help transfer that information into the GMM format.

As with all meaningful credit analysis work, the user remains in control SpreadIQ is designed to assist the process, not replace human review.

Users will have the opportunity to review and approve the information before it is transferred

This AI-powered enhancement is another step toward reducing repetitive work, improving efficiency, and helping lending teams spend more time analyzing information instead of manually rekeying it.

Customers already licensing SpreadIQ will receive the new look and expanded functionality automatically when it becomes available.

Coming Soon: Credit Bureau Import

You asked, and we listened

This summer, we are introducing Credit Bureau Import, a new AI-powered feature designed to make it easier to bring individual credit bureau trade information into Square 1 Credit Suite

Square 1 previously included a credit bureau ordering integration that allowed credit bureaus to be ordered directly through the system, with trade information then harvested and fed into the individual debt schedule While that functionality solved the technical need, we heard from many customers that it did not fully match the way they preferred to work

Many of you already have established credit bureau providers. Others already have PDF credit bureau reports on file and simply want a faster way to use that information inside Square 1

Credit Bureau Import is designed for exactly that.

With this new feature, users will be able to select a PDF credit bureau report they already have and allow Square 1 to read the report, identify the trade information, and assist with transferring that data into the individual debt schedule.

If you would like to learn more about Credit Bureau Import, please contact your Suntell account representative.

As with our other AI-assisted tools, the user remains in control. Before anything is finalized, users can review the information, make edits if needed, and approve what is imported

Credit Bureau Import is currently focused on individual credit bureau reports and will be available this summer to customers using Credit Analysis, including full-suite customers and customers with a Credit Analysis-only subscription

We are offering this feature at no additional charge at this time. As AI usage and related costs continue to evolve, we do reserve the right to evaluate future usage-based fees

Meet Ivy: Coming Soon to Loans By Selection

This summer, Ivy will make her in-product debut inside Square 1 Credit Suite

Ivy is Suntell’s AI persona, designed to support users by reducing repetitive work and helping make complex tasks more manageable Her first job will be inside Loans By Selection, where she will help full-suite customers build more flexible note-level reports.

Today, Loans By Selection includes standard reporting options that are useful, but not always flexible enough for every reporting need. In some cases, the output can be difficult to work with, especially when users need to look at the data in a specific way

That is where Ask Ivy comes in Instead of relying only on pre-built report options, users will be able to describe what they want in plain language.

EXAMPLE:

Ivy will use that request to help create the appropriate selection criteria The resulting data will appear on screen in a grid format, where users can review the information and export it to Excel for further reporting and analysis Reports created with Ivy’s assistance can also be saved for future use

This does not replace the existing reports in Loans By Selection. It adds another option for users who need more flexibility and want a faster way to get to the data they are looking for

Ivy is part of Suntell’s broader AI strategy: practical, targeted tools built into Square 1 Credit Suite to reduce low-value, repetitive work while keeping users in control

AI-generated outputs are intended to support user review and professional judgment, not replace it.

We are excited to introduce Ivy’s first inproduct role this summer and give users a preview of what is ahead

Introducing Ivy’s Scout Skill

Managing outstanding document items can be time-consuming, especially when users have to search across borrowers, obligors, loans, and related records to determine where to begin

Ivy’s new Scout skill is designed to make that process easier.

Scout brings each user’s most relevant exception work into one daily view, helping ensure important items do not get missed Instead of requiring users to manually search for what needs attention, Scout automatically surfaces the obligors and documentation items tied to that user’s work

Scout also supports routing configuration, allowing items assigned to an officer to be routed to the parties or groups responsible for the actual follow-up. This helps reflect the way many institutions manage exception activity, where the officer may own the relationship, but another person or team may be responsible for requesting, receiving, or clearing the required documentation.

Scout organizes the user’s daily list using Group by Exposure, bringing relationships with the highest total exposure to the top. This helps users prioritize follow-up around the obligors that may carry the greatest risk or require the most attention

The daily work list also updates in real time As items are worked, cleared, or otherwise resolved, they are removed from the list, keeping the view current and focused on what still needs attention From a single screen, users can see the exceptions most relevant to their work, understand which relationships should be prioritized, and focus on the items that need action. The goal is simple: give users a clearer way to start their day, focus on the outstanding documentation that matters most, and reduce the time spent hunting for what needs to be done next

Scout is coming this summer as part of Ivy’s expanding role inside Square 1 Credit Suite.
