The First Word from Our Editor The New Year is upon us and I can’t believe where the time has gone it only seems like yesterday when I was planning a garden make-over and enjoying the summer sun. One of the greatest things about this time of year is that almost everyone is in high spirits with most feeling the need to give something back to those less fortunate than themselves. So as we enter into 2014, what better time of the year, than to reflect on the busy, productive and blessed year we have had. I would like to say thank you for the continued support of our advertisers, business partners and readers. We have received some wonderful feedback from our readers which in turn has favoured our advertisers and I for one have felt very proud of the progression Perfect Homes Magazine has made over the last twelve months. Interior colour trends for 2014 are leaping headstrong toward spring with bright, vivid colours and neon tones. The main colours to watch out for if you’re looking to update your home are Blood Orange, Tangerine, Cherry, Fuchsia, Caution Yellow, Lime, Cobalt and Cerulean.

Blood Orange

is a colour that’s not too bright and not to dull. To complement a Blood Orange colour scheme you should include some bright lime greens or blues and some dark orange browns.

Yellow is very vivid and very striking - use

it to draw attention and create high contrasts. This colour goes very well with dark blues and ivory colours.

Lime a contrast between yellow & green the

colour is ideal for eclectic pop environments, kitchens and living rooms. Mixed with dry tones and browns this contrast makes it one of the best colours this season.

Cobalt Blue made  of

the pigments made using cobalt salts of alumina. Is a colour with a long history often seen in traditional ceramics, glass and jewellery. This colour is clean, sharp and very Mediterranean in appearance. This colour should be always be matched with white and beige.

Welcoming warmth Nothing says cosy quite like a fireplace especially during the dark winter nights. Traditional wood-burning fireplaces are always a hot design option, but not always a practical one. Two popular alternatives in recent years have been gas & electric appliances, but which heating alternative offers the best solution.

For many years, there was no comparison between electric and gas fireplaces, both were possible substitutes for traditional wood burning units but gas was considered superior for one simple reason: designers and engineers had neglected to make electric fireplaces look as realistic as gas ones however, with advances in technology all this has changed. Here we take a look at the PROS & CONS of both these heating alternatives.

gas PROS: l Gas fireplaces don’t produce messy by-products of burning wood such as smoke and ash. They can also replace a traditional wood-burning fireplace without comprehensive structural changes to the home. l In terms of heat produced, gas far exceeds what you’ll receive from electric. This is an important consideration if the fireplace’s role is to provide warmth and not simply to add an aesthetically pleasing look. l Gas fireplaces have a backup for producing heat in the event of power loss. If you experience a power cut your electric fireplaces will go out to. Gas fireplaces have either pilot lights or a battery backup to provide heat in the case of a power outage. l Gas fireplaces are the cheapest way to heat your home if you have a large-open space to keep warm . l Gas fires also create a romantic, calming ambience with the flame flickering hypnotically in the background.

CONS: l A gas fireplace must be installed by a qualified gas engineer, which means extra expense and time. In addition a gas fireplace should be serviced every year.

PROS: l Electric fireplaces cost a lot less money that gas fireplaces with prices ranging from as little €150.00 upwards l The installation of an electric fireplace is easy. Essentially all that is required is four screws and the installation is complete! They are also extremely easy to operate and most now come with a remote control. l Aesthetically, electric fireplaces are far handsomer that they used to be and more pleasing on the eye and offer a very realistic flame effect. Advancements in creative design and technology have brought the electric fire bang up to date and once again very desirable, catering also for the modern ‘chic’ aesthetics rather than for the heat requirement with realistic and reliable flame effects and smoke effects rising from the fuel bed. l Many electric fires have thermostats to maintain a set room temperature so once the room reaches its ambient temperature the heating element will turn off thus saving you money. l Want to create a romantic or cosy feeling to a room? Electric fireplaces also have the option of offering a flame without providing the heat. l Servicing an electric fireplace is user friendly as the only maintenance usually required is changing the light bulbs.

CONS: l Electric fireplaces don’t put out as much heat as their gas-fired counter parts. If you are trying a heat a large open space or open plan living area, an electric heater probably wouldn’t be a cost effective solution especially with the increasing price rises in electric utilities. Essentially an electric heater is designed as a space heater for a small area such a bedroom or bathroom.

f you were to create your own interpretation of “sophisticated Ibiza”, what would you imagine? For UDesign, it was a blend of white, gray, and cream colours. A need for lightness, airy-ness, and relaxation with a touch of glamour. The main public space was split up into separate areas with an opportunity for entertainment & relaxation in the same space. One part of the space is perfect to sit and relax, perhaps read a book and have a cup of tea. With nature so close to the interior it makes the entire space relaxing and calm, fantastic for those quiet moments. The space isn’t complete without the addition of a natural wood fireplace, to keep the home warm on cold winter nights. The clean lines and soft colours allow for the different areas of the public space to integrate & relate with each other. The use of clean lines is continued in the TV cabinet design allowing for the television to become part of the design rather than an additional element, which can often become an eye-sore if not integrated properly. The space is completed with a collection of decor items and paintings which heighten the luxury and sophistication of Ibiza. These elements add warmth to the space and allow it to become more personal and welcoming to guests. UDesign have the ability to customize all of there furnitures and finishes, truly allowing the space to become personal, sophisticated & special. All in all the use of light, colour, balance, and shapes allow this space to become glamorous, sophisticated, cozy, and comfortable all at the same time.

So what is art deco? Borrowed from the name of the Exposition International de Arts Decoatifs et Industriels Moderne, held in Paris in 1925, refers to a style that spanned the boom of the roaring 1920s and the bust of the Depression-ridden 1930s and austerity of the First World War. The term Art Deco, coined in the 1960s,represented many things for many people. It was the style

of the flapper girl and the factory, the luxury ocean liner and the skyscraper, the fantasy world of Hollywood and the real world of the Harlem Renaissance.

Art Deco affected all forms of design, from the fine and decorative arts to fashion, film, photography, transport and product design. It was modern and it was everywhere. It embraced all that was modern and new and was a symbol of progress and provided a sense of escapism and luxury in a dĂŠcor that appealed to both genders.

If you’re aiming to bring this distinctive look to your décor, choose furniture with strong sweeping lines. Large scale pieces were used to add drama, so feel free to go big with an armoire, sideboard, or oversized chair. Art Deco style furnishings made use of materials which were new at the time, such as chrome, stainless steel, and lacquered wood. Mirrors were a big accessory, providing some of the shine and sparkle associated with Art Deco. Mirrored furniture was considered a glamorous addition, so a mirrored coffee table, dresser or buffet would make a glitzy focal point in your room. And for entertaining in 1920s fashion, what home would be complete without a bar or a chrome and glass cocktail cart. Art Deco replaced Art Nouveau’s intricate flowing lines with angles and clean shapes. It emphasized form and symmetry, incorporating patterns such as zig-zags, chevrons, sunbursts, and elongated shapes reminiscent of skyscrapers. In your home, a touch of this streamlined aesthetic can be reflected in the lines of a fan-shaped

dresser mirror, a rug with a geometric design, or linear patterned wallpaper on an accent wall. Glossy black, gold, chrome, silver, white, red, and yellow are the most popular colours of the Art Deco style. Black and chrome were thought to reflect the current technological advances, so the combination was used often. Black and white was also a common pairing – a classic choice for a tiled floor. On the other end of the palette, neutrals like beige and cream contrast nicely with dark lacquered wood furniture, particularly in a sumptuous bedroom setting. Mood is everything for Art Deco interiors, and layered lighting can create the right atmosphere. A wall sconce or torchiere floor lamp offers flattering indirect lighting. Lamp bases of bronze or wrought iron are typical, with clear, frosted or colourful glass shades. A lamp with a futuristic shape is a perfect accent in an ultra-modern Art Deco décor, and if you can’t resist Hollywood glamor, a sparkling chandelier will add the shimmer you’re looking for., www,,,

How to create the look u Use dark woods and mirrors to create moods that are slightly decadent and luxurious. u Sculptures with Egyptian, Greek or Roman motifs lend a sense of methodology and discovery. Dramatic colour combinations such as black and white combined with chrome, gold and brass metals provide contrasts, glitter and reflections. u Wallpaper and textures in turquoise and white add a more airy, modern touch u Contrast the elements; Use soft velvet cushions in masculine tones; dark woods against shiny metallic and leek mirrors. This contrasting of dark and light, masculine and female made the look so appealing to both genders u Use mirrors in geometric shapes, wallpaper with silver and gold patterns, and lamps and fixtures that feature a lot of metal but are simple in form. u Try to keep the lines as defined as possible with; straight lines and geometrical stepped ziggurat shapes. u Capture the adventure. By the 1930’s travel was becoming popular and tourism started to boom. African safaris were popular and animal prints, exotic finishes such as pearl and tortoiseshell started to show itself in home decor. The bold use of materials in glass, shiny fabrics, metallic paints and mirrors will complement the Art Deco look in your home. u Add Egyptian influences to make every room feel regal. With travel becoming commonplace the influence from Africa and especially Egypt was great. After the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb the influence of pyramids, hieroglyphics type symbols and sphinxes were added to many design elements in the home.Use these symbols in your furniture, textiles and when choosing wallpaper and artwork for an Egyptian-inspired Art Deco style. u Don’t over accessories. Ornaments were sparsely used during the Art Deco period. The classical minimal modern look was starting to have an impact at this time. Lamps with female figurers holding a ball are a well-known icon of the Art Deco era. The Art Deco’s style fits in well with most of today’s interiors, and retains its timeless appeal thanks to its forward-looking approach to style, minimal lines and symmetry. Designing the interior for the Bella Navetta was both an exciting experience and opportunity for the team at Patricia Darch, and looking at the results I am sure this will not be the last yacht added to their ever growing design portfolio.

ITH the summer all but a memory, to keep our spirits high as we embark upon a cold, wet and in some cases freezing winter our thoughts turn to next year’s summer break and holiday destination.

But why limit ourselves to just the pleasure of a short term holiday once a year? Across the globe there are plenty of property bargains to be had so why not look at the option of purchasing a holiday home in the sun, of course when searching for a home overseas, which always look wonderful when dappled in summer sun, the crucial question for those who know they need that all important injection of winter ultra violet is “will this work for me?” Climate is one factor, as our flights – will you be able to get flights during the low season and of course how much will they cost? Some countries like the Balearics are seeing an ever-increasing number of year-round flights, but others like the Greek islands or Turkish coast tend to reduce their air traffic during the low season, and there is nothing worse that spending the beginning of your break stuck at an airport for several hours! priests created their very austere gardens for meditation and to appreciation their natural beauty. Those early gardens had no water features rather, the priests created a feeling of water with rocks, even raking them to get a ripple like appearance.

Today there are many interpretations of Zen gardens, with enhancements such as ponds, bridges, lighting and art pieces. But they are still rich in Asian traditions and focus on an intrinsic reverence for nature. At first glance, the Zen garden is very simple - yet the depth and complexity unfolds the more one studies the space.

Elements of the Zen Garden

Rocks & Stones The selection and placement of rocks is the most important part of making a Japanese rock garden. In the first known manual of Japanese gardening, the Sakuteiki, ‘ “Creating a garden” is expressed as “setting stones”, ishi wo tateru koto; literally, the “act of setting stones upright.” It laid out very specific rules for choice and the placement of stones, and warned that if the rules were not followed the owner of the garden would suffer misfortune.In Japanese gardening, rocks are classified as either tall vertical, low vertical, arching, reclining, or flat. Great stones and boulders are viewed in the Japanese garden as mountains and islands. Stone exists in dozens of other applications, from bridges to stepping pads. The role of stone cannot be over-emphasized because it is the structural basis of the hardscape design.

In the zen garden without ponds or streams, sand and finer gravels are used to create a metaphor for water.

The Japanese tea garden features a path from the entry gate to the teahouse. Along that pathway, there will be a water basin with its accompanying bamboo utensils for ritual washing.

Trees A Zen garden can benefit a lot from trees, as they provide a sanctuary canopy, as well as shade. In this environment, they represent long life. Common trees used include bamboo, or flowering plum or cherry. A tree that adds significant color, beauty and shade to a Zen garden is the Japanese Maple Tree (Acer Palmatum). This is a small tree with low spreading branches that is native to Japan and Korea. The maple leaves are attractive season long, varying between dark green to fiery red.




Stone or wood, extend over ponds and link small islands to each other and to the shore. Bridges are thought by some to symbolize the transition from one world to another or from one stage of life to another.

Ponds, streams and waterfalls are beautiful elements in the modern Zen garden. Created in a natural style with rocks and plants often found at water’s edge, these pools are the home of colorful koi fish.

Flowers are not very common in Zen gardens, except for a select few that are more like flowering plants that live on or by the water. These include the lotus, lilies or the Japanese water iris.

athroom design trends for 2014 revolve around the notion of making your bathroom like a sanctuary, with beautiful lighting, rich stonework and deep freestanding tubs. Bathrooms are growing up. We’re finally seeing a departure from the shabby chic look which has invaded almost every room in the house since the mid 00s. We will now see a return to sleek, sophisticated bathrooms. The ‘spa at home look’ with luxury items like, saunas and steam rooms entering the domestic bathroom. The shapes of the 2014 bathroom are based heavily on liquid and fluidity. We won’t be seeing strong, angular shapes next year. Instead there is a softness which makes the bathroom feel like a much calmer space. And while we’re at it, space will become more important too. Floating-style sinks will be a bathroom staple, providing us with more storage space underneath to remove clutter.,,,

Colour will also be out. Instead we’ll be looking at more muted, elegant palettes consisting of black and white, steel grey, deep blues and earthy browns. We will also see a lot of mosaic and textures, which can be worked beautifully into a design in the form of a stylish backsplash for a subtle flash of visual interest or a feature wall. Japanese minimalism will be the words on everyone’s lips, with serenity being the main objective of the bathroom. Large mirrors will open the space up and encourage light to flow around the room, and waterfallstyle showers will grow in popularity. Vanity chests will give a dressing room edge to bathrooms for a more luxurious feel, and modern, cherry blossom-esque lights will cascade from ceilings, almost as a work of art. Controversially, we could also be seeing wallpaper return to the bathroom, though the practicalities of this may not work for everyone. If you’re going to do it, stick to one feature wall in the best ventilated part of the room, and make sure it isn’t adjacent to the bath or shower where moisture will accumulate and ruin the wallpaper.

EAR downtown Toronto, a contemporary home pours out its unique beauty. Throughout the spacious home, large windows, tall ceilings and gorgeous wood floors create a spacious, but warm ambiance. The back wall is formed of glass from floor to ceiling, providing a view across the tips of a forest of large, old trees in a deep ravine. But the large, two-story dwelling designed by Hagy Belzberg of Los Angeles isn’t just recognizable for its spacious rooms and glass walls. The lot is landscaped in such a way that the home appears as a feature of the extensive garden, which spills out the front, sides and back of the home. The back yard is a story of its own. Through the glass doors at the rear of the house, a covered terrace becomes an extension of the living area, featuring a fireplace and space for family and friends to gather. The back yard slopes into a deep ravine with terraces layering the lot horizontally, dividing it into sections to be appreciated individually. Two staircases lined with stainless steel woven wire mesh provide a passage down to the ravine.

Hartley is the owner of a well-established Toronto-based landscape architecture and garden design consultancy, MHLA, Inc. His firm specializes in private, residential gardens and estates, making this back yard project ideal for his firm. Generally, Hartley, along with his six colleagues, meet with clients, conjure up designs that please them and oversee the implementation of the plan. In this case, Hartley visited with the homeowners to begin the process of creating a design like no other – a project that, beginning in 2009, took more than two years for Hartley and his crew to wrap up. When the homeowners bought the one-acre lot, the 100-year-old deciduous trees were one of the features that attracted them. They purchased the property with intentions of restoring the ravine and preserving the natural beauty of the woodlands. Hartley went to great lengths to spare a few of the rare plants and native trees on the property, such as a Japanese Maple. The contractors completed restorative planting as well, using native plants and trees that will eventually take over when the older trees fade with time.

Hartley’s design called for visually enhancing the existing landscape surrounding the home with thousands of plants, including more ornamental plants, and hedges for maximum privacy. This alone was enough planting to require 48 landscapers on site on one particular day. But luscious greens and old trees weren’t the only desire of these Toronto homeowners. They also wanted the back yard garden to be split into a series of terraces: the home’s terrace, the pool terrace and the lower terrace of the lawn. Lower still would be the final touch, the ravine and woodland. The terraces, plants and trees were all instrumental in creating a very dramatic, yet serene, experience.

Because the property had a steep descent, the back yard required staircases descending to each level. Hartley and his crew were faced with a challenge of designing two sets of stairs, consisting of hundreds of steps each, that would not only be safe and functional, but also would complement the surrounding environment. Built to match the home, one set of limestone staircases stretches from the house terrace to the pool and then to the lower terrace. The other set leads from the house terrace directly to the lower terrace, where the owners and their guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the lower woodlands. Adding to the task, railings needed to line each step to ensure the staircases were safe. But the homeowners were concerned about implementing a railing design that would work with the architecture of the home. Hartley knew railings were a major factor in the overall landscape design. Not only did he need a railing that would blend well with the rest of the landscaping, but he also required a long lasting, practical and attractive material. Hartley spent weeks researching before he found the perfect solution: stainless steel woven wire mesh railings from W.S. Tyler. W.S. Tyler’s Architecture and Design Division has been manufacturing mesh to add aesthetic appeal, functionality and enhanced safety to buildings and interior designs around the world for more than 20 years. In applications including landscapes, bridges, walkways, guardrails and stairwells, the mesh holds strong to reduce the potential for falls. With fully customizable woven wire patterns, diameters and openings, W.S. Tyler can weave individual wires thinner than hair or up to one inch thick. In addition, they feature more open than closed area, which makes them nearly transparent, allowing sunlight and wind to pass through. “The material is see through, yet sturdy. From a practical point of view, it would allow air movement and it wasn’t too heavy. I also knew it would be maintenance-free and rust-free. It definitely suited the project at hand,” Hartley explained. Hartley chose to use W.S. Tyler’s DOKABARRETTE 8914. Other varieties were thicker and heavier, but Hartley felt this material would fulfill the homeowners’ request for something unique. The DOKA-BARRETTE 8914 has openings throughout 68 percent of the surface area and is relatively light, weighing only 1.33 pounds per square foot. Additionally, the product

can be used to achieve LEED certification credits for LEED sustainable projects. “This woven mesh works with the architecture of the house,” Hartley said. “The mesh has the right amount of movement within it to complement the linear stonework of the home. It really enhances the design.” Further, he said the material met Ontario’s building code requirements for the stairs and the pool. Hartley wound several outdoor stairs, gates, and twists and turns into his design, so bringing them to life wasn’t completely straightforward. Installing the railings was going to be a complex process, one requiring some additional assistance and expertise. Enter W.S. Tyler’s engineers. Over the course of six months, the company’s engineers went to the job site, fabricated and framed the railing materials to fit appropriately, devised a consistent method for attaching the railings to each piece of stone, and, finally, performed the installation.

“We were happy to have W.S. Tyler’s help. They didn’t just provide a product. They came forth with full-service engineering so it came together very nicely in the end,” Hartley said. “They were attentive to every detail and were certain to make sure this worked properly.” W.S. Tyler installed approximately 220 linear feet of railing, or 660 square feet of woven wire mesh. It provided the perfect touch of excitement to bring the back yard to life. Hartley had used woven wire mesh in the past, but not to this extent. The combination of beauty and practicality it brought to this project has increased his confidence in using the material. “These railings are a thing of beauty and will stay a thing of beauty for a long time. If I had put a wood railing up, it would need replacing in the next 10 years,” Hartley said. “This one will last 50-100 years.” Further, when the railings do see a time where replacing is necessary, the product is 100% recyclable.

He also said the positive experience has revealed another avenue of creativity that he’s excited about exploring for future projects. But for now, as with any of his work, Hartley gets the most satisfaction out of a happy customer. And for this multi-million-dollar project, the customers were more than pleased with the outcome.

The inspiration for this product comes from ballet dancing: while at work it resembles a skirt, floating gracefully over your floor. Whether used in compact or wide mode, it is a vacuum cleaner providing efficiency, smartness and empathy to the user.

2. Breathing Wall by Jeabyun Yeon studying Product Design at SADI University, Korea

Breathing Wall is an integrated air cleaning concept for people who live in urban areas but desire fresh country air at home. The design concept is inspired by the gills of a fish and their movement replicates a fish breathing. The Breathing Wall can be customized to suit individual needs through six functions; weather, memory, reaction, breathing, mood, and general settings by using a smart device app.

The wallpaper revival IF

the thought of wallpaper brings to mind the fussy floral patterns on grandma’s walls think again. The world of modern wallpaper has been infused with innovations that have designers clamouring to incorporate this chic wall treatment into their sleek interiors. Throughout the years, wallpaper has been a bit of a taboo subject in the world of interior design. Although it has long been a favourite home decoration for prosperous families - from tapestries to silks to wallpaper. Its popularity only began to fade when painted walls became the trendy way to decorate this was primarily because painting was cheap and cheerful, however paint never really gave a room as much character as wallpaper. Today designers have stepped up their game and wallpaper is now once again “new” with fresh designs printed onto better quality paper, it’s safe to say that wallpaper has reinvented itself and is enjoying a huge revival. Trend setters from all walks of life including interior and fashion designers are all in support each showcasing their very own signature ranges. Wallpaper is an easy, economical way to add pattern to your home. Used on one wall as an accent, behind shelving, or even on the front of a set of drawers, it has a multitude of uses and can be used to make a statement in any home, or subtly to add a little interest. When using wallpaper there are a few rules to follow here we give you a masterclass in modern wallpapers and how to use it.

When teamed with complementary accessories, curtains and lighting, metallic wallpaper can work exceptionally well. Large prints with dark background give a very opulent look. The designs are classy, stylish and contemporary without being over the top. To enhance the effect of the metallic wallpaper and complete the look try:

Patterns Geometric patterns of plaids, Greek key, Mediterranean and Islamic patterns are all the rage it seems. The major plus side of wallpaper that has brought back its re-emerging is the fact that nothing is more unique or bolder than the ability to flawlessly incorporate interesting design without looking kitschy and/or cheap-tastic.

Florals Another major trend in modern wallpaper design is the incorporation of modern florals, fleur-de-lis, and baroque-inspired trimmings. These patterns, once popularized at the height of French royalty, saw their way out as trends changed and became “Americanized.” Though, these days more and more designers are turning to the past and European design in particular to add a romantic and homey feel to today’s homeowner.

Horizontal Hanging There is no need to be restricted to using wallpaper vertically – it’s becoming ever more popular to hang it horizontally. This is particularly effective with stripes which are huge at the moment. If you have a small space with low ceilings, hanging stripes vertically this will give the illusion of height whilst hanging horizontally will make a room look bigger. Hanging horizontally can also be a fun way to use bold, bright patterns in a child’s bedrooms and playrooms. Remember if you’ve chosen a bold pattern keep everything else within the room plain to avoid clashes.

3D realism This trend was seen in a number of collections across differing design styles. They are created in many cases by clever use of print cylinders that create a drop shadow which makes the flat design appear to float. Caravaggio has a very effective satin drape design that looks stunning in the red and black colour version. Also in this collection is a clever crushed paper design that appears to come out of the wall when viewed from a few feet away.

Tricks: n To make a beautiful wall covering the focus of the room, pick out key colours from the design and repeat them in plain fabrics and painted woodwork. n To mix in other prints without outshining the wallpaper, stick to a limited colour palette. Alternatively, choose another print from the same collection – they’re grouped to co-ordinate, so the hard work’s been done for you.,

n If you like an eclectic look, you can team an archive wallpaper with modern furniture, but echo the design – for example, a pattern with gentle curves will look better with furniture in curved shapes. n If you want to find a paint that matches the tones used in archive wallpaper, look at heritage and period paint collections.

nce again, I had the privilege of returning to the magnificent Domosat showroom to meet Maurizio Sardo, to discover a new concept he has just developed; Domosat ‘All in One’. I was, as always, looking forward to discovering the inside track of his latest innovative new project.

Says Maurizio, “We initially came up with this concept when we realised that once Domosat has secured the project and the maintenance contracts, the builders, architects and promoters we work with, prefer to trust one company and one Company alone, to undertake all the technical installations; this is when Domosat ‘All in One’ was born. We have now been working on this concept for the past eighteen months instead of just concentrating on Home Cinema and Automation installations. With the establishment of Domosat ‘All in One’, many doors have opened; subsequently we have recently secured 6 projects. These have included ones in Morocco and Saudi Arabia.” Are you the first Home Cinema and Automation Centre to introduce this personal customer service? “No I think it is the other way around. What has happened is there are a few Companies on the coast that have gone from doing electrical

installations to doing home automation and cinema but they don’t have the set-up that we have got, in another showroom. So what he have done, after 20 years in the industry operating from our showroom and working with very high profile clients, we have now introduced our in-house electrical installations, all under one roof with ‘All in One’. It is working very well. Our idea is that next month we will be opening up a completely different side to Domosat. Domosat will stay as it is but now on the other side of our building we will have the Domosat “All in One” headquarters with 3 new engineers on site. This new department will be pointed towards builders, architects, decorators, not so much the end user. ‘All in One’ will be responsible for everything including electric, plumbing, air conditioning, under floor heating, solar panels, lighting etc. If there is any problem with the house, the housekeeper or maintenance man can just pick

up the phone and ring one person at Domosat.” Please can you take me through step by step what a client would expect when first meeting the “All in One” Team? “Basically with some of the houses we provide installations for, as large as 3000 square metres, we understand it is very important right from the beginning we prepare a complete project, plans of installation and project manage the all job; this will include all the services the client requires from inception to conception; this is now coordinated exclusively by Domosat ‘All in One’. Also now everybody is more concerned about going ‘green’; we are using environmentally friendly products and renewable energy in all our new installations. “All in One” has specifically been established for your renowned ‘turnkey’ projects. Can you give me some examples? “We are doing two or three houses in Zagaleta as well as Sierra Blanca, and a massive project

in Mallorca. Also due to the launch of Domosat ‘All in One’, we are starting to work on some very big Hotel projects as well as houses in Madrid and as previously mentioned, are going global.” How do you see the growth of “All in One” over the next twelve months?

Not only has Maurizio been concentrating on the formulation of ‘All in One’ and the rapid expansion of Domosat, but alongside this he is relocating their Bang & Olufsen showroom to the centre of Malaga. His team are currently working flat out to complete this project. The new Bang & Olufsen showroom will now be situated next door to El Corte Ingles.

“Huge. As I now see Marbella definitely picking up big time. The investors are coming back and the property market is on the rise, hence we are now getting more jobs in Marbella furthermore with the ‘All in One’ concept, are able to spread our wings further afield.”

Well once again I depart, in awe, of this young man’s extraordinary ability to maintain Domosat at the forefront of Home Cinema & Automation Centres and now with the development of ‘All in One’ is rapidly becoming the global leader within the industry.

Finally what plans have you got for Domosat in 2014?

To say I feel privileged having been in the presence of Maurizio and his team, the undisputed ‘giants’ in state-of-the-art installations throughout this interview, is certainly an understatement.

“Either we will have a new showroom or we will collaborate with different Companies so that we can establish further presence for Domosat not only in Spain but through other international Companies. We have already achieved this in Mallorca, Ibiza, Barcelona, Madrid, Morocco and Gibraltar.
