Children with Disabilities

• Register early! Many camps and swim lesson sessions fill up before their start dates

The City of Sunnyvale encourages children with disabilities to participate in our all inclusive programs. Resident/Nonresident Status Any person with a home Sunnyvale mailing address is considered a resident. A Sunnyvale P.O. Box or business address will not be taken as proof of residency. A nonresident is someone who lives in another city.

Proof of residency: Present two forms of identification to verify residency to the Sunnyvale Recreation Center front desk. This includes a picture identification card and a City of Sunnyvale utility bill, with customer’s name and Sunnyvale address.

Recreation Scholarships Available $500 scholarships are available for Sunnyvale residents 17 years or younger.

SCHOOL-AGE Traditional camps include everything you need to have fun this summer! Start the day off with a morning rally to sing camp songs, go over rules and meet the staff. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION

Club X For families who need a full-day camp experience, Club X is available to campers participating in a morning camp at the Sunnyvale Community Center. Each afternoon begins with a supervised lunch followed by fun indoor and outdoor games, contests, arts and crafts as well as free choice time.

Prerequisite: Must be enrolled in a morning camp also located at the Community Center.

Camp stays on-site and focuses on appropriate social interaction, following directions, cooperation and decision making. Campers must be independent with personal care and able to attend program with a 5:1 camper to staff ratio or bring an attendant.

Time to get crafty and creative! Campers make several different one-of-a-kind crafts throughout the week. Craft projects include tie dye T-shirts, paint pouring, beading and shrinky dinks.

Campers spend the afternoon making many different projects using these colorful plastic beads. Learn to make 3D boxes, ornaments and more! Come and see how many ways these beads can be used to make creative and useful items.

Level 1B Penguins

Ages 6 months – 3 years

Parent and Tot Swim Parents and children explore the water and become comfortable in the pool.

Prerequisite: Level 1A – Sea Turtle. Learn how to swim on front/ back (unsupported) and fundamentals of freestyle and backstroke.

Level 1C Narwhal

Adult Swim Lessons

Prerequisite: Level 1B – Penguins. Swimmers will be introduced to freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Must be a Sunnyvale resident, age 17 or younger AND meet 80% AMI maximum income guidelines
