SUNNYVALE RECREATION

A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT We hope you had a great Fall. We are excited to see returning and new participants across all programs. Our team continues working hard to provide a variety of safe and fun activities to challenge and excite our community for 2022! We saw bright things in the fall! Our Super Safari Preschool returned offering three classes and continues welcoming new participants. Washington Community Swim Center welcomed lap swimmers before it closed for the winter. Adult Drop-in gym returned to welcome badminton, volleyball and pickleball enthusiasts. Santa Clara County is still making progress with COVID-19 vaccinations, so we encourage you to continue following all County/State Health Orders. We are excited to kick off the holiday season with our newest event, The Great Candy Cane Hunt. Earlier this fall, community groups submitted candy cane design applications to the theme of “winter holiday cheer.” Stop by the Community Center now through Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 and walk around the campus to find all of the fantastic candy canes on display. Plus, be sure to vote for your favorite candy cane design at Sunnyvale Recreation on Facebook or Instagram. Voting closes Dec. 15, 2021. The Recreation team is also busy planning Summer Camp and Swim Lessons for Summer 2022. The Camp Sunnyvale Splash brochure is scheduled for release early February with registration opening Feb. 7, 2022. If you are looking for winter and spring school break camps, we have you covered! Check out all the options available in the Youth & Teens section. There’s something for everyone in our safe facilities and programs, so come join us and ease back into active life! If you have a program idea or question, please feel free to contact us at recreation@sunnyvale.ca.gov. Sincerely, Damon Sparacino Recreation Services Superintendent
