Since Rena crash landed into the Bay of Plenty at the start of October, there has been a major focus on the impact on residents, the environment, tourism and the local economy. Now, with the oil extraction nearly in the all clear, many are looking at ways to turn the Rena situation into a positive attraction for the region. The Weekend Sun speaks to Tauranga marine biologist, commercial diver and New Zealand Under Association member Shane Wasik about the possibility of turning Rena into a diving attraction and what this could mean for the tourism industry.
