Serious splat attack! A faster, more furious, high-intensity type of paintball will draw competitors from across the North Island to TECT Park this Sunday to battle it out in the Bay of Plenty Paintball Triples. Club president Phil Stokes said the tournament will showcase a side of paintball
that many people have never seen. “When most people think of paintball, they think of birthday parties or recreational games played in the bush,” Stokes said. “What we play is called speedball, which is a much faster-paced competitive format. It’s quick, exciting and very strategic,”
said Stokes, pictured on the right next to fellow players Ron Knipmeijer and Edwin Sullivan. “A lot can happen in a short amount of time.” The tournament will see teams of men and women from Auckland, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatū and beyond compete in
an action-packed showdown worth going along to watch on June 7, Stokes said. The event would also highlight more than a decade of work developing the BOP club’s permanent home at TECT Park. Read more on page 10. Photo / Kelly O’Hara
