Digging deep Success at last week’s national outrigger canoe championships may have cost Paul Roozendaal’s chances in next weekend’s James Moore Memorial Race. After digging deep to win silver in the 1500m race at Lake Karapiro he aggravated an old injury that kept him out of the memorial race last year, but next Saturday he is determined to still do his best. For the past four years Paul has organised the race to commemorate James Moore who drowned paddling the same course with him. Paul is expecting the race’s largest and strongest contingent ever this year. See page 7 for full story. Photo by Tracy Hardy.
