Turn Tauranga blue! Tauranga steampunkers are aiming to turn the city blue not just for one night – but three days – this weekend to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. And while they’re trying to raise money for the cause – group member Lindsey Morgan says it’s also about raising awareness. “We do it for

the men in our lives – the husbands, poppas, nephews, sons, uncles, colleagues and friends. “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi men. Two blokes die a day. “We think that is two men too many.” ‘Blue Steamtember’ is from Friday-Sunday. ‘Roll out the Barrel of Fun’, is 5pm tonight,

September 16, at The Barrel Room. On Saturday, September 17, there’s ‘Op Shop til ya’ Drop’ from 9am. The Buckle’s Cog Toss from 1pm-3pm Saturday at Memorial Park. And ‘The Light Blue Breaky’ is 10am Sunday at The Raft, Chapel St. The main event, The Blue Do, is 7pm

Saturday, with an Aeronautica theme at Tauranga Yacht & Powerboat Club. Everyone is encouraged to dress in blue, nautical theme, or in full steampunk regalia – just like Mick Morgan, pictured here. More details on page 5. Photo: John Borren.
