Lily Harvey, 8, and Bella Wilson, 6, are among thousands in the Western Bay remembering Anzac Day on their lapel for Poppy Day today. Both Mount Maunganui and Tauranga RSAs encourage everyone to remember Anzac Day and support the clubs’ major annual fundraiser today – with funds going to returned service members’ medical expenses. While the girls may never personally know the sacrifices of war, they certainly know the importance of remembering Anzac Day with the connection of great grandfather Maurice Wilson, 90, who fought in WWII.
