The beach along the Matata straight will be transformed into a forest of fishing rods on January 27 as a thousand fishers compete in the Bay of Plenty’s longest running surf casting competition. Hosted by the Rotorua Fishing and Casting Club, the 44th surf fishing bonanza offers the same opportunities for camaraderie, camping and competition and big cash prizes that ensures the contest’s on-going popularity.
