Gift of hope and cheer

It’s not frankincense, gold and myrrh – but they are gifts given with love and compassion and received with tears, disbelief and deep, deep gratitude. The gifts are 1200 bags of groceries and 800 boxes of produce, bringing a touch of Christmas cheer and hope to those

confronted by less fortunate or difficult circumstances and to those who would otherwise miss out this Christmas. It is the Curate Church’s fourth ‘Gift of Groceries’ initiative. Mount Maunganui New World and Kiwi Larder have provided grocery items at a cheaper price, meaning the

sponsored $40 packs contain approximately $70 worth of food. Church volunteers have been packing the gifts this week, and sadly demand seems to be outstripping supply. For the full story on how a Curate Church gift can have an impact and how you can help, go to pages 4-5. Photo: Bruce Barnard.
