News by the numbers Wickedly good statistics for the superstitious It’s not often that an incredible series of numbers comes together as they have today. It’s Friday the 13th, in our 13th year of publication, also oddly enough, in the 13th year of this century. As if that isn’t enough, consider this: Today’s issue number is 666. So to celebrate 13 years of commitment to the community and the Sun’s ranking as the best read, most effective newspaper in the

region, we’re planning a devil of a good time for our 666th edition of this beast of a paper. Welcome to our special Black Friday edition.

The numbers all stack up

Another incredible series of numbers to note today is the massive circulation of the Sun, and the number of its readers. We’re now the only paper offered free to all residents of the

Western Bay of Plenty – a massive 64,180 copies to the homes of 160,000 residents – while our competitors are all cutting back. In our 13th year, we’re the widest distributed newspaper in the Bay of Plenty. Nielsen surveys continue to rate the Sun the best read paper in the region, year after year. On top of that, our daily news service, SunLive, has climbed the reader rankings to be the top

news site of the region. SunLive “The bay’s News First” now rates in the top five news sites in New Zealand and the best read web news service in the Bay of Plenty – by miles. Read more on page 2.
