Looking for loot When it comes to unearthing treasure, Tauranga paramedic Les McLaren and wife and nurse Maria are in a league of their own. Every three months the couple travel to a chosen town in their ambulance as part of the Charity Pirates: a group of friends with old fire engines and classic cars, to fundraise for a charity or project in the area. The group is heading to Tauranga soon and want suggestions on a worthwhile project to support. For full story see page 6 of Bay Driver (inside this week’s issue). Photo by Bruce Barnard.
