The advertising in The Weekend Sun was very very good and I am extremely pleased with all the calls I have had since placing the ads. I will continue to advertise with such a great response.

The Classified Section works like a directory. If you have a regular appearance in the Classified Section, people know where to look for your services when they need them. The Weekend Sun has a very popular Classified Section that is constantly building, and becoming a vital advertising tool. Another benefit to advertising in the Classifieds, is that we can always find something that will cater to suit your advertising needs and budget.

We can also fit Classified Advertisements in right up until the very last minute of going to print, which means if you have something urgent, you can usually count on the Classified Section to get it into the paper. Colour advertising is also very affordable in the Classified Section. It costs just $25 +gst extra to add colour to your advert – a fantastic investment to increase the profile of your advert.

A photo competition, jointly run by SunLive and Tourism Bay of Plenty, has drawn hundreds of great photos that show just how much everyone loves the region’s beaches. The winning entries – as judged by Tourism Bay of Plenty general manager Glenn Ormsby and SunMedia general manager and photographer Ross Brown – all capture the Western Bay of Plenty beaches in their prime. Ross says they were delighted with the response to the competition and the high standard of entries had made it difficult for them to separate the top images. Glenn says it was great to see so many top photos of the area’s beautiful beaches being enjoyed – including three of the four winning shots – “showing concerns about the Rena’s impact is well behind us”. “To me the great standard of photos taken by all these people shows just how much people here in the Bay love their beaches.” The winning shot in the 17-plus age group, taken by Judea photographer Donna Beck, captures two young sisters enjoying a boogie board ride off Pilot 1st under 17

Bay with lots of atmosphere and colour. Donna, who has been getting serious about improving her photography during the last two months says it is a great thrill to win. To capture the natural action shot that she wanted, Donna waded out into the bay and waited for the children to pass by. “The best shots to me are always natural rather than posed and capture the atmosphere. That was what I was going for.” Runner-up in the 17-plus age group is Andy Morris for a moody shot along the beach to Mauao from Papamoa in a magical light. The winning entry in the under-17 age group was a shot by Claire Roderick of fishing off the Matata beach with its balanced composition and colours, while runner-up in the younger section was Daniel Hines for an image of a busy Mount beach, capturing the enjoyment and fun of the beachgoers. Claire says she is “absolutely rapt” to win the competition. The winners each won a prize to one of the Bay’s top attractions – including Waimarino Adventure Park, Kiwi 360, rides on the Kaituna Jet or a trip with Pee Jay White Island Tours. By Hamish Carter

Fiddling star set to burn up the stage ‘Nero fiddled – Marian Burns’ – that’s how some reviewers have described Marian Burns, New Zealand’s premier country fiddler.

top Musician of the Year 2009, The Agnew Excellence Award 2009 from the Variety Artists Club of New Zealand and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia – to name a few. Marion is a private tutor of the violin, ukulele and guitar and a conductor of massed

Marian is making a one-night appearance at Tauranga Central Baptist Church’s Sunday Night @ Central on February 12. Pastor Tom Frew, who has appeared with Marian at several Country Music Festivals, says he has waited a long time to get Marion back again. “Because of her amazing talent, her exuberant and exciting performances, she is one of the busiest artists in the country.” Marian has received almost every accolade conceivable in her music career, including Female Country Artist of the Year in 2009,

choirs in Auckland Town Hall for the last 20 years. To quote David Hartnell; “Marian Burns has enough energy to light all of Auckland, including the Sky Tower”. She has just returned from a European tour and has played on top of the London Eye and the Tower of London. She received standing ovations at concerts all over Ireland. Sunday Night @ Central has been a showcase for many up-and-coming artists during the last 10 years and has also brought to New Zealand many well-known overseas stars. There is no charge for entrance, but a freewill offering is taken up to cover some of the expenses. Len Hockly is the resident organist and a message of encouragement is always brought by Pastor Tom Frew.

Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit We are living in the age of the Holy Spirit, that period of time in human history when the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Holy Spirit, is the operative member of the Godhead in human affairs. In Joel 2:27 -28, God speaks about the last days. He says “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions”. God Himself also stated in Zechariah 4:6 that His purposes would not come about by our efforts, but by the power of His Spirit. When Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father, the Father sent the Holy Spirit to stand in Christ’s place in the Church. This happened on the day of Pentecost. Consequently today, Christ is Head over the Church and the

Holy Spirit is Head in the Church. The Lordship of Jesus over the Church is only effective to the extent that the Holy Spirit is Lord in the Church. Conversely, we deny the Lordship of Christ over the Church when we ignore the Lordship of the Holy Spirit in the Church. A.W. Tozer wrote: “If you could increase the attendance of your Church until there is no more room, if you could provide everything they have in Churches that men want and love and value, and yet you didn’t have the Holy Spirit, you might as well have nothing at all. For it is ‘not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit saith the Lord of hosts’. Not by the eloquence of a man, not by good music, not by good preaching, but is by the Holy Spirit that God works His mighty works”. Therefore, we must see the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit in

Evangelist to speak in Tauranga Evangelist Weston Carryer from the Zoe Evangelistic Ministry is presenting at Bethlehem Hall on February 12 at 10am. Weston was baptised in the Holy Spirit in 1977 and his whole life changed dramatically. He obeyed the call of God to become an Evangelist. For more than 30 years, Weston has been praying for the sick in New Zealand and he has seen the Lord heal practically every kind of sickness and disease. He has also ministered extensively overseas.

Weston and his wife Ruth live in Tauranga and have a grown-up family of four. They are members of the City Life Church in Tauranga. They believe in the power of God’s word and that when taught and proclaimed without compromise, it will be confirmed by God with signs, wonders and healings. There are many people who can testify to the healing power of God in their lives through the Ministry.
