It’s what transforms piles of aviation scrap into living, roaring relics, it’s what brings enthusiasts and the interested through the doors at the museum. Like the day they cranked up the Grumman Avenger – the American torpedo
bomber – the World War II aircraft designed to avenge the attack on Pearl Harbour. It was the first time for more than half a century the engine had turned over.
