Master Rope Rider: A Suncadia Golf Challenge
Inspired by the Golf Channel’s Big Break series, Master Rope Rider is a skills challenge held at the Rope Rider Golf Park. It honors the “rope riders” who worked in coal mines in Roslyn, Cle Elum, and Ronald, Washington—individuals known for their daring balance atop coal cars deep underground. This challenge lets you step into their legacy and prove your modern-day mastery of golf finesse.
Master Rope Rider is the perfect golf experience for smaller group outings or special events. Choose up to six unique golf skill challenges:
Challenge #1: Mid-to-Long Putts
Four putts (15’, 20’, 25’, 30’); score based on accuracy Players hit four different putts with points awarded for putts inside a series of concentric circles surrounding the cup. Points: Holed (5), within 3’ (4), within 6’ (3), on green (1).
Challenge #2: Short Chip
Four chips; score by proximity to the cup
Players hit four chips from a short distance off the green with points awarded for chips that stop inside a series of concentric circles surrounding the cup. Points: Holed (5), within 5’ (4), within 10’ (3), on green (1).
Challenge #3: Bunker Shot
Four shots from greenside bunker; score by distance to the cup Players hit four greenside bunker shots with points awarded for putts inside a series of concentric cirles surrounding the cup. Points: Holed (5), within 3’ (4), within 6’ (3), on green (1).
Challenge #4: Over the Suncadia Wall Lob Shot
Four lob shots over a wall; higher points for precision and holing Players hit four lob shots over the “Big Break Suncadia” wall. Points: Holed (10), within 5’ (4), within 10’ (3), on green (1).
Challenge #5: Players Choice
Four approach shots with choice of difficulty Players have a choice to hit from four different locations that range in distance and difficulty. On the first three shots a player will get one point from the closest location, two points for second closest, three points for the third closest and four points from the urthest location. On the final shot the point totals are doubled from each location.
Challenge #6: In the Basket Chip Shot
Four chip attempts aimed to land in a basket with increasing point values Multiple chipping nets are placed at various distances from the teeing area. Points: Closest (2), next (4), next (6), furthest (8). Optional knockout mode.
