MISSION Summit Pacific College exists to educate, equip and enrich Christians for Spirit-empowered ministry in the Church and in the world. Established in 1941, Summit Pacific College has provided quality education in developing Christian leaders for over 80 years.
RAISING UP LEADERS Summit Pacific College is dedicated to raising up Christians for leadership roles in the local church, global missions field, and nonprofit sector. Through intentional discipleship and quality education, we strive to see our students possess the passion, character and skills for a life of impactful leadership. Our Abbotsford, B.C., campus is home to approximately 170 students in addition to our distance and online learners. We offer a holistic and immersive campus experience. Our relational campus pastors, program directors, and faculty foster an environment where spiritual formation is a priority.

FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK If someone were to ask me what I like best about Summit Pacific College, I’d have to say that it is our students. Each fall I look forward to meeting our freshmen, and hearing something about what brought them to our college. It is also great to reconnect with our returning students, many of whom will have completed a summer-long internship or ministry experience. That first week of every semester is memorable! At the risk of stating the obvious, Summit is a college – we do education, and we do it well. As a smaller college, our staff team also gets to take the time to get to know every student. Whether it’s coffee in the bookstore, an after-class meeting, or worshipping together in the chapel, we want to hear what God is doing in your life. The amazing things. The challenges you face. LOCATION & CAMPUS Our beautiful Summit campus is located on Sumas Mountain. It’s the perfect home for our single and married students, providing them with comfortable dormitories, a wide variety of amenities, and a food service by red-seal chefs. The experience of residence living is a valuable part of a student’s education. Resident students form lasting friendships, grow in their understanding of themselves and other people, are more involved in extracurricular activities, and have more opportunity to interact with faculty and staff.

OMEGA GLOBAL OMEGA Global is designed to impact the HEADS of students by deepening their faith in preparation for life, faith and mission. This is accomplished through academic study in ten Summit courses that can be applied to further education at Summit or other universities and colleges. Students who join the OMEGA Global program desire to change the trajectory of their lives. This begins by engaging in a work of the HEART. It is our belief that OMEGA Global students have the capacity to engage in spiritual formation through the mentoring and discipleship of our directors and the broader Summit community. OMEGA Global is a unique one-year program due to its blend

COUNSELLING FOUNDATIONS Mental Health is a critical discussion in our culture. The Counselling Foundations major gives skillbuilding opportunities for entrance into the discussion and care of individuals who might be struggling with their mental health. Students in this program gain the information needed to be of support to people in a variety of mental health support roles. Summit’s long-running Counselling Foundations program gives its graduates prerequisites for future studies in counselling at a graduate level. Many of our graduates have continued to Master of Counselling programs and have become full-time Mental Health professionals.

NON-PROFIT GLOBAL LEADERSHIP Prepare to lead in one of the most dynamic ministry opportunities in Canada. Consider learning about the 170,000+ non-profit organizations in Canada that employ over 2 million people and have over 13 million volunteers. Learn to start a non-profit, lead a non-profit, or work for one of the fastest growing employment sectors in Canada, all while expanding cross-cultural awareness and understanding what leadership means in a global context. MUSIC LEADERSHIP Creative voices are increasingly integral to the local church body, helping congregations worship, reflect, and grow in their faith. The Music Leadership Program is for students desiring to be effective worship leaders and musicians within our local churches and other Christian organizations. It is designed to prepare students with the necessary skills and ministry experience needed for vocational music leadership within a local church context. CHILD & FAMILY LEADERSHIP Today’s children and parents are facing increasingly difficult and complex issues. They are struggling with mental health concerns, marital challenges, gender and sexuality, and neuro-diversities. Canadian families need competent pastors and leaders who will encourage, provide resources, and disciple well to help them in their faith journey as they navigate the ever-changing nuances of life. The Child and Family Leadership program is a comprehensive program uniquely designed to train pastors and leaders to be knowledgeable and skilled in child development, family dynamics, ministry leadership, effective communication techniques, and discipleship formation. This program expands beyond a child-centric perspective in order to train students to lead children and adults effectively. BIBLICAL THEOLOGY More than ever before, the world needs to hear a clear presentation of biblical truth. The Biblical Theology program offers an opportunity to study and assimilate the truths of God’s Word, giving students the ability to address contemporary issues in a relevant way. Whether it’s social justice, gender and sexuality, or even a global pandemic, the Bible has something to say. The program’s focus on Biblical exposition will prepare students for a teaching and preaching ministry. GRADUATE STUDIES M.A. in Youth Ministry focuses on practical training in youth ministry with a significant focus on spiritual formation and allows for flexibility between theology and leadership. The program is targeted toward pastors who are working in a significant youth ministry role. M.A. in Theology and Spiritual Leadership serves both vocational ministers like pastors and missionaries, and lay people who want to be equipped to engage more effectively in everyday ministry of the gospel at the marketplace. This program can also be tailored to fulfill all the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada educational requirements for Recognition of Ministry credentials. Studies in Pentecostal Theology Certificate focuses on theological and biblical perspectives within the Pentecostal movement in a pluralistic world. Awareness of the larger scholarly tradition and accepted standards of professional competence are combined with a practical emphasis on training articulate, godly servant leaders. This study program serves a variety of different students like pastors and lay church workers alike, and is especially suited for those who are seeking credentials within the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. New Testament Studies Certificate focuses on biblical interpretation and New Testament exposition. This study program is designed for pastors, educators, church leaders and volunteers, and global workers who want to gain deeper knowledge and skills in the area of the New Testament. Church and Parachurch Leadership Certificate is designed and directed by professionals working in the non-profit sector of Christian ministry. The focus is on administrative leadership principles for work in non-profit organizations and churches in Canadian or global work contexts. 28

STUDENT LIFE & COMMUNITY Community is an integral part of the college experience, and the community at Summit will leave students with stories, memories, and relationships that last a lifetime. From student council events to small groups, Summit offers a fun, dynamic, and immersive campus life where there’s always something happening.
SPIRITUAL FORMATION Learning about God is significantly different from getting to know God. Preparing for ministry is about more than academic preparedness. Leaders must first develop their own relationship with Christ. Through immersive spiritual formation, students grow as committed disciples of Jesus Christ. Chapels are an important part of campus life shared by the entire college community, integrating our emphases of ministry to God, ministry to the whole community, and ministry to the world. Our Campus Pastors play a significant role in the spiritual journey of our students. With a relational approach to ministry, they mentor and disciple students as they learn to minister to others.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Leadership doesn’t begin at graduation. A broad range of on-campus roles, under the mentorship of our Student Leadership team, gives students the opportunity to operate as servant leaders. Off campus, Student Ministries and internships provide opportunities for students to put into practice the knowledge they have developed, and learn under the guidance of experienced leaders. Partnerships with churches, nonprofits, and global mission organizations around the world means there are opportunities for wherever students are called. Through real-world experience, students will be prepared to serve with integrity and humility in leadership roles. They will learn the value of vision, creativity, and collaboration and will develop the problem-solving skills necessary to function as leaders.
