BRANSON Mountain Charm
At Capital Vacations, we never get tired of talking about what makes Branson such a special destination. If you’ve visited and fallen in love with it as we have, you’ve probably taken in the beauty of the Ozark Mountains, enjoyed the peaceful waters of Table Rock Lake, or been dazzled by the incredible entertainment along 76 Country Boulevard. But beyond the attractions and scenery, there’s something even more remarkable about Branson: the story of how it became the beloved destination it is today. Since its founding in 1882, Branson has been built on dreams. Over the decades, families, entrepreneurs, performers, and visionaries have made their way to this mountain town in search of opportunity, connection, and a better life. What began as a quiet Ozark community
slowly transformed into one of America’s favorite vacation destinations, shaped by generations of people who believed in creating something meaningful. History can sometimes feel like a collection of dates and milestones, but in Branson, it feels alive. It’s woven into the theaters, the lakes, the mountain views, and the welcoming spirit that visitors experience the moment they arrive. That same spirit is what makes Branson such a perfect place for making vacation memories. When we think about our Capital Vacations Club Members traveling to resorts like Stormy Point Village and Grand Crowne Resort, we think about the stories being created every single day. We picture families laughing together at world-class shows, sharing thrills at roller

coasters and attractions, exploring scenic hiking trails, or unwinding on a peaceful showboat ride across the lake. These moments may seem simple in the moment, but they often become the memories families cherish for years to come. There’s something special about the way Branson brings people together. Maybe it’s the slower pace, the natural beauty, or the sense of nostalgia that seems to fill the air. Whatever it is, Branson has a way of reminding us to focus on what matters most: quality time, new experiences, and the joy of simply being together. Every visit becomes part of a larger story—not only the story of Branson itself, but also the story of your family traditions and adventures.
When you vacation in Branson, you’re supporting more than 140 years of dreamers who helped shape this incredible community. At the same time, you’re living out your own dreams—of escaping the everyday, relaxing, reconnecting, and creating unforgettable experiences with the people you love most. At Capital Vacations, we believe those moments are truly priceless. It’s an honor to play even a small part in helping families experience the magic of Ozark country and continue the traditions that make Branson feel like a home away from home.

THE HIKE
for Cherished Memories
Summer vacations always held a special magic for me growing up. They were a chance to escape the ordinary, to trade the humdrum rhythm of school days for adventures that felt larger than life. But one particular summer stands out above the rest—the one I spent in Gatlinburg, hiking up a mountain with my younger sister, LaLa, and our spirited uncle, Skunky. LaLa and I didn’t share much in common back then—she was all sweetness and curiosity, while I was stubborn and impatient—but that mountain seemed to pull us together in ways I didn’t expect. From the moment we started the hike, Uncle Skunky made it his mission to turn every moment into an adventure. He had this infectious laugh that echoed through the trees
and a knack for spinning wild stories about the critters we might encounter. “Watch out for Bigfoot’s cousin,” he teased, pointing to some bent branches, “He’s known to steal sandwiches from unsuspecting hikers!” LaLa’s giggles mixed with my eye-rolls, but deep down, I couldn’t help but enjoy the absurdity of it all. The trail seemed steep and unforgiving at times, but we found joy in the smallest of things—the cool, earthy scent of the forest, the way the sunlight filtered through the trees, and the occasional squirrel darting across the path. LaLa’s energy never faltered; she bounced ahead, poking sticks into muddy puddles and marveling at colorful wildflowers growing along the way. Uncle Skunky kept her entertained with riddles
27 | CLUB Connection | Summer 2026 | CapitalVacationsClub.com | 1-844-777-CLUB (2582)
and jokes, while I brought up the rear, pretending I wasn’t struggling to keep up. When we finally reached the summit, the view stole what little breath I had left. The rolling hills stretched out as far as the eye could see, a patchwork of greens and blues that felt both endless and intimate. Uncle Skunky let out a triumphant "Wahoo", and LaLa threw her arms up in victory like she’d conquered the world. In that moment, I realized that this wasn’t just a hike—it was a snapshot of who we were as a family. LaLa’s boundless curiosity, Uncle Skunky’s unrelenting humor, and my quiet appreciation for the adventure—it all blended together into something beautiful.
Years later, I still think back to that summer in Gatlinburg with a warm ache of nostalgia. Life has pulled us in different directions since then, but those shared memories remain constant. Growing up is funny that way—you don’t realize how precious some moments are until they’re suddenly far behind you. The day may have been simple, but they taught me what family vacations are truly about: making memories that stick, no matter where life takes you. And. every once in a while, I hear Uncle Skunky’s booming laugh in my head or picture LaLa’s face lighting up over something as small as a wildflower, and I can feel Gatlinburg’s mountain breeze all over again.

Still, not everything has a price tag — watch the free 3-D movie about the adventures of M&M’s characters and snap a family portrait next to the M&M’ssponsored Camry race car. Whether you’re a daredevil or prefer more leisurely rides, the Adventuredome theme park at Circus Circus will keep you and your family occupied all day, no matter the weather. This 5-acre indoor amusement park has a ton of family-friendly attractions, like bumper cars, climbing walls, a Ferris wheel, and the world’s only indoor double-loop, doublecorkscrew roller coaster. Serious daredevils make for the thrill rides at the Strat (aka
the Stratosphere Casino), at the north end of the Strip. At 112 stories, its Big Shot ride is the tallest ride in the world and shoots passengers 160 feet into the air at 45 miles per hour, and the X Scream teetertotter plunges riders headfirst over the tower’s vertiginous edge. Caped crusaders will enjoy a trip to the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. — it’s a bit on the spendy side, but worth it if your kiddos love Marvel. The Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is an interactive and educational exhibit designed to delight Marvel fans of all ages. You’ll be able to get a close look at an extensive range of authentic movie props, costumes, and memorabilia from the Marvel Avengers movie series. *Content sourced by RCI.com

Eat Like A Local While Las Vegas is most associated with casinos, one-of-a-kind shows, and the bustling neon-lit strip; the greater Las Vegas area has evolved into a culinary destination over the years. There’s an abundance of great places to eat that don’t involve Elvis impersonators, slot machines, or valet parking. The Black Sheep is an award-winning, modern Vietnamese-American restaurant worth leaving the strip for. The most popular dishes include pork sausage bao sliders with fried quail egg or a grass-fed ribeye with crispy artichokes and Peruvian purple mashed potatoes on the side. This top-notch restaurant is open for dinner only. We recommend making reservations, as the intimate setting only seats 50 people. The Back Sheep is located at 8680 W. Warm Springs Rd, Las Vegas, NV. Flock & Fowl is a local hot spot just north of Freemont Street. This hidden gem is well known for serving up a wide variety of decadent comfort food. One of the most popular dishes includes a fried chicken sandwich bursting from a yellow egg flower bun, topped with creamy coleslaw and spiced with chili oil. Flock & Fowl is located at 150 N Las Vegas Boulevard, #100, Las Vegas, NV. The Stove is an airy, open space that is a popular brunch spot for Vegas locals and tourists alike. Skip the overcrowded and overpriced breakfast buffets on the strip and enjoy some of The Stove’s most popular dishes. You cannot go wrong with the waffles, and be sure to indulge in their pastries and macaroons — your taste buds will thank you. The Stove is located at 11261 S. Eastern Ave, Henderson, NV. *Content sourced by RCI.com

The Shenandoah Valley: Virginia's Countryside On the Hunt in Virginia Cradled by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley is a pastoral slice of countryside sprinkled with stately small towns and containing a trove of antique stores. There’s great antiquing throughout the valley, but the central part of the Shenandoah offers some of the best variety. In the towns of Woodstock, Harrisonburg, and Staunton, you may just find that perfect heirloom piece you’ve been looking for (or maybe something unexpected you never knew you couldn’t live without). Taste Your Way Through 4 Phenomenal Wineries Near Massanutten Within the boundaries of the Shenandoah Valley, the area known as Massanutten is home to several award-winning vineyards that are well worth a visit. Of the many wineries near Massanutten, these four are known for their exquisite wines, amazing scenery, and world-class hospitality. Brix & Columns Vineyards
Early Mountain Vineyards
When you visit Brix & Columns Vineyards in McGaheysville, don’t be surprised if a friendly black-and-white Great Dane greets you. His name is Wyatt, and he loves visitors, including your own leashed dogs. The vibe is chill at Brix & Columns, a winery that planted its first vines in 2015. The estate grows seven grape varietals and produces an assortment of wines to please any palate — from more complex, lingering reds to lighter, sweeter whites.
Located in Madison County, the 350-acre vineyard grows classic Bordeaux-type varietals such as cabernet franc and merlot, as well as new varietals, including malvasia bianca, sauvignon blanc, and tannat. At the 2023 Virginia Governor’s Cup (a prestigious and highly competitive wine competition between Virginia wine makers), Early Mountain Vineyard took home four gold medals for three different vintages of cabernet franc and a merlot/petit verdot blend.
CrossKeys Vineyards A 17,000-square-foot winery facility houses the winemaking operations, tasting room, wedding venue, event space, as well as an on-site bistro serving lunch and dinner — delicious items like brie fondue, “smoky” baba ganoush, and pimiento cheese, are on the menu, plus a variety of soups, salads, entrées, and sandwiches. Of course, estate-grown wine pairs perfectly with every meal.
Barboursville Vineyards Barboursville Vineyards is set amid a stunning 900-acre estate near Gordonsville. The estate’s remarkable wines includes the much-lauded octagon, a noble Bordeaux-style blend that reflects the Virginia terroir with aromas of blueberry, black currant, fresh flowers, and herbs.

Among Barboursville’s stellar whites is nascent, a blend of viognier, vermentino, and falanghina grapes, producing a wine with notes of citrus, pear, and rose. Their dessert wine, paxxito, which earned the Gold Medal in the 2022 Virginia Governor’s Cup, is known for its lush, creamy texture and notes of tropical fruit. Winemaker Luca Paschina, also from Italy, has been perfecting Barboursville wines since 1990. Getting Back to Nature in Shenandoah Valley Whether you come to soak up the history or the natural beauty (or the wine), one thing is certain: You, too, will inevitably be drawn to see what’s just over the horizon. Natural Bridge It’s farther up the valley, but the sight alone is worth the trip: a 90-foot-long natural archway of limestone, curving more than 200 feet above the creek bed below. It’s been a tourist attraction since it was purportedly surveyed by a young George Washington in 1750. Natural Bridge has changed little since his day—assuming you view it from below, along the Cedar Creek trail. The bridge is actually the remains of a collapsed cavern. Of the dozens of cave systems that still lace the Shenandoah, perhaps none is more impressive than Luray Caverns. Among its amazing rock formations is the world’s only “stalacpipe organ.” If you have time on your return trip, there’s no better way to experience the Shenandoah’s beauty than from above, along Skyline Drive. Built by New Deal programs to help the country escape the Great Depression, the 105-mile road bisects Shenandoah National Park along the ridgeline from I-64 at Rockfish Gap to its northern terminus at U.S. Highway 340 in Front Royal. There are 70 scenic overlooks, so the Skyline Drive isn’t for those in a hurry—but why would you want to be? Budget time for hiking: The strenuous trail up Old Rag Mountain from mile marker 43 climbs to an exposed rock summit with the best views in the Shenandoah. For an easier hike, try mile marker 51 for the 1.4-mile round-trip walk to Dark Hollow Falls, or a stroll around the high alpine fields of Big Meadows. Or bring your rod and try fly-fishing at spots like Herbert Hoover’s restored fishing camp on the Rapidan River, reached by the Mill Prong trail from Big Meadows. This predecessor to Camp David is where President Hoover and his family, as well as invited dignitaries, came to escape the commotion of Washington amid quiet wilderness and crystal-clear mountain streams. Today it’s all national park, so, technically, you own it. Put on your boots, grab your fishing rod and enjoy a little natural treasure. No matter what path you take in Shenandoah Valley, there is infinite opportunity to make memories. From the extraordinary views, to the exciting experiences, to just the feel of the area's atmosphere, it's a perfect place to spend your quality time and soak in the serenity of nature.

OUT WEST
Adventures Await
Phoenix and Scottsdale AZ. – Where Culture and Creation Collide Arizona’s Sonoran Desert—a landscape rendered in shades of tan and red that pop against a bright-blue sky—is a sight for sore eyes. Spring and fall are a pleasure, as the temperatures hover around a dry 75 degrees Fahrenheit, providing golf lovers the opportunity for play year-round. Hundreds of golf courses, spas, restaurants, and museums appeal in every season, tempting vacationers to visit the Sonoran Desert even when the heat rises. Phoenix is the area’s biggest hub. Within the city lies
Camelback Mountain, which dazzles from afar and atop its summit. You can get a glimpse of life in the Wild West at Goldfield Ghost Town and Cave Creek, both just outside of Phoenix. The Desert Botanical Garden is another can’t-miss, with more than 50,000 flora that thrive in the dry heat, such as the jojoba plant, which has moisturizing and medicinal properties. Nearby Scottsdale has more spas per capita than any city in the country, making it the place to recharge once you’ve
tested your skills on Phoenix’s golf courses or hiked along one of the area’s many trails. After getting your muscles rolled, you can enjoy a bite of authentic Mexican fare at the Scottsdale Waterfront, a shopping center along the Arizona Canal. Or visit Old Town, where you can pretend to be a cowboy at saloons that have served the likes of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. The Phoenix Revival To orient yourself to the massive Phoenix grid and

get a sense of how far things have come, hike a mountain. Despite all the development, the city still has some of the wildest parks of any major metropolis in the country. You’re likely to encounter Gila monsters, blooming cholla cactus, and even tarantulas only a few miles from downtown. For a big and varied wilderness, drive to the southern edge of the city to find the massive South Mountain Park. Rent mountain bikes from Cactus Adventures or saddle up for a guided horseback trip with Arizona Horses to explore this vast area. For complete immersion, take a hike—there’s a good chance you’ll sneak up on chuckwallas, zebra-tailed lizards, and desert tortoises along the sixmile loop on the National and Mormon Trails into Hidden Valley. Look for 1,000-year-old petroglyphs scrawled into the granite by Hohokam Indians.
In the Neighborhood
Hit the Downtown
The best introduction to Phoenix’s urban revival is its residential neighborhoods. Start with a walking tour of one of the city’s first suburbs, the Willo district (just west of Central Avenue between Thomas and McDowell Roads, from 1st to 7th Avenues). Years of dedication have gone into restoring the 1920s bungalows and Spanish Revival and Tudor houses that you’ll see on your tree-shaded stroll. Continue south a few blocks to browse through Willo Historic District Antiques, with its chandeliers, period furniture, and ever-changing eclectic stuff. Then duck into a Phoenix classic, Easley’s Fun Shop, for sombrero sunglasses and magic tricks.
Phoenix is immensely pedestrian-friendly. But if you prefer to ride, hop on the clean and easy light-rail system that shoots through the heart of downtown. To make everything that much more accessible, the city has planted “ambassadors” in popular zones— smiling folk in orange shirts who’ll happily point you in the right direction. Start at the centerpiece of the city’s attractions, and the main reason downtown has survived at all: Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. During the hour-long tour of the air-conditioned stadium, you’ll learn all about its retractable roof, swimming pool (which has captured many a homer), and one of the largest high-def video boards in the country. Back on the street, head eight blocks northwest to the Downtown Phoenix Public Market, at Central Avenue and Pierce Street. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on any given Saturday, you’ll see artists, young families, retirees, and hyper-stylish professionals trolling the booths to fill their canvas totes with farm-fresh produce. You can chat about winemaking techniques with the vintners, buy a tub of goat cheese, and watch the awkward followers of a free Tai Chi demonstration.

For Nature Lovers

Nature abounds here in the Valley of the Sun. Surrounded by the Sonoran Desert, the McDowell Mountain Range, and Camelback Mountain, it offers all kinds of recreation for locals and tourists alike. There are more than 180 miles of trails in Phoenix alone, 51 of them in the South Mountain Park & Preserve, where you can ride horseback, hike, and go mountain biking. The 145acre Desert Botanical Garden has 50,000 plants, including 169 rare and endangered species. If you’re short on time, consider a balloon tour with Hot Air Expeditions for an expert-guided, bird’s-eye view of the entire valley.
Downtown Scottsdale has nearly 100 galleries. Head to Old Town for cowboy and Native American art and design, and visit the Scottsdale and Marshall Way Arts Districts for traditional and contemporary high-end art and antiques. The Musical Instrument Museum is home to more than 15,000 musical instruments from some 200 countries around the world.
At Searsucker, Top Chef finalist Brian Malarkey has created a menu that changes daily. FnB, in downtown Scottsdale, serves up gastro.pub fare made with local organic produce, best enjoyed with the excellent artisanal cocktails or wine on tap. Chris Bianco still draws lines of diners eager to sample his legendary pizzas at Pizzeria Bianco—so many that he finally opened a second location. No visit to the area would be complete without sampling Mexican cuisine. Go straight to Phoenix’s Barrio Café, an art-filled establishment often cited as having the best Mexican food in town.
Architecture buffs must see Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and school in the shadow of the McDowell Mountains. This could be followed by a quick stop at Cosanti, where visitors can see the home and studio of the architect Paolo Soleri.
