METROPOLITAN SECLUSION Demonstration area of peaceful life
The project is located in Jingan, which was Mazu's temple and as a result is a holy place in Buddhism. In order to correspond to the context, this project is defined as a demonstration area of peaceful life in which visitors can meditate, attend Buddhism class, read classical Buddhism books, enjoy tea, etc. However, the site is very close to a busy road so that the original atmosphere is noisy, tired and engaged instead of quiet, calm and decent. So my design strategy is to divide the whole circulation as three parts which are leading, shielding and staying, and to organize them progressively. For the leading part, I lengthen the circulation focing visitors to begin calm down from the corner of the road; for the sheilding part, I recover the wetland which existed in the site before to create a natural sheild between coutyard and the road; for the staying part, sculpture, pavilion and Chinese characters from a traditional Buddhism book were used to create a peaceful, meditating space.
