Hello everyone my name is Kayden Tanner from Texas and I have been raising and showing livestock over the past nine years. Raising and showing livestock has taught me so many life lessons. It has taught me strong work ethics, discipline, commitment, and humility.

These are all obvious lessons, but I think the most important thing I have learned is that it isn’t just me doing this. It takes a lot of people to make everything come together on show day. I have learned to appreciate the people in my life more than ever before.

It has taught me to be more grateful for the blessings in my life, to be thankful for the people in my life who work so hard to make our program a success and most importantly to be thankful for my parents and the sacrifices they make for my brother and I. What is your favorite breed? Simmental What is your favorite livestock show? NAILE in Lousiville What is your best stock show memory?

Picking my best memory is difficult. I guess if I had to pick the absolute BEST memory it would be when one of my heifers was named Supreme Champion in San Antonio this year. The Supreme Drive is so exciting and they give such great scholarships at this show. I have been blessed to receive 2 scholarships from San Antonio, so it is probably my parents favorite, as well!!!

Who are your role models?

My biggest role models in life would have to be my dad and mom! My dad is the hardest working man I know. He is one of the best veterinarians in the country and I can only hope to be half as talented as he is one day. He sacrifices his time and energy for our family and works countless hours to provide for us. My mom is someone who serves others and takes care of everyone (just ask my show friends). I love that no matter how crazy life gets or how busy we are, she is constantly reminding us that God and family has to be at the center of it all.

Kayden is a talented showman and one of the hardest workers you will ever meet, he has huge success but remains exremely humble.

Kayden on Sullivan’s Fresh and Feminine ...

Our family relies heavily on Fresh and Feminine. My dad, being a veterinarian, is very selective about the supplements that we use for our show cattle. It can be difficult and challenging to keep heavy bred females in the correct condition. He has found this product to successfully accomplish what we are looking for in our bred heifers.

Hey y’all my name is Whitney Walker. My parents, Eric and Linsay Walker, run Willow Springs Cattle Company alongside our competitive crew. We run over 500 head of mama cows and sell heifers and steers to kids across the country with a heavy focus on doing it the right way and with passion.

Mason, Catelyn, and I have been showing cattle for over 10 years now and have been very grateful to be able to have success in the ring and create lifelong friendships outside of the ring.

What is your favorite livestock show? Junior Nationals What is your favorite breed? Maine-Anjou What is your best memory showing cattle?

When the Maine and Chianina Junior National was in Springfield Illinois, I was doing showmanship and Jim Bloomberg was judge. He came over and picked me and shook my hand, so I pulled up and was talking to my dad along the fence and a Junior Board Member came over and handed me a buckle. I told my dad that I didn’t know they gave buckles out for 10th place, and he looked at goes “Whitney, you won.” That was a pretty cool.

What is some advice that you’d give to your fellow showmen?

Always stay calm and don’t get frustrated whether you’re in last place in your class or winning the show.

What is the greatest lesson you’ve learning while showing?

Responsibility is the biggest thing that I have learned growing up showing. I am always having to choose between going and hanging with my friends and going to shows or working on cattle, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hey everyone, we are Tyler and Mason Allan from Schulenburg, Texas. We grew up on a show cattle operation with our parents Dave and Rebecca Allan and our little brother Landry.

We started showing at 8 years old in the state of Texas and have been doing so ever since then. In 2012 we had a dispersal sale to start our family business, Genesource. It was in 2014 when we started building back our Hereford herd. Our family had our first purebred sale this spring with good results. We now run both a herd of Hereford cows and show cattle. Growing up in this industry is something that we are grateful for because it has built lifelong friendships and memories. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.

What is your favorite livestock show? Tyler My favorite show would have to be the Fort Worth Steer Show. By far the most impressive show in terms of quality and numbers. It is such a cool experience going into the ring with such big numbers. I love the competitiveness in being involved in that show. I will always hold onto the memories from that show.

What is your favorite breed? Mason What is your best memory showing cattle?

What is some advice that you’d give to your fellow showmen? Tyler Be thankful for the people around you. You do not realize how thankful you are for the people around you until you are almost done showing. Everyone should enjoy each moment in and out of the showring. Always push yourself as much as you can because it will pay off. Whatever you may win or lose always be proud of it.

What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned while showing? Tyler Number one it has built an awesome support system with what I want to do in the future. Take as much as you can from the people you meet they will help you with connections in life. The people that I have met during my show career have led me to know what I want to do in the future and to continue being involved in cattle.

We would like to thank our mom and dad and Drew Schmidt for the support to help us get where we are. Without their help working cattle, hauling, and being there for us we would not be able to do what we love.

Tyler & Mason on Sullivan’s Shock ...

Our favorite show day product would have to be Sullivan’s Shock. It gives the hair the pop and shine that we like to see in our show cattle. It works for us and is a product that we trust and stand by. We have used Sullivan’s Shock on all our champions recently, we love the formula and how it works on all different hair types. It is also a great product we are clipping our animals before the show, it helps the hair stand up for a more crisp clip.

One thing I have always admired about the Copeland family is the versatility and quality of their cattle that work in any arena or pasture. Soundness and longevity with the cattle and their ranch couldn’t be respected more.

Matt Copeland is a 4th generation cattle rancher with Copeland and Sons Herefords, LLC from Nara Visa, New Mexico. They run roughly 800 head of cattle and sell nearly 150 head every year. Copeland and Sons Herefords is an operation that is based on the cow. They work to have sound, functional, good uddered cattle with good feet and legs. One of their goals is to try to raise good quality cattle that fits what everyone is looking to do with their program. Their program is not solely based off of just range bulls or just show cattle and they continue to work to excel their genetics in both areas of the Hereford industry.

Either the Ft. Worth Stock Show or the National Western.

What is your favorite breed?

Herefords What is the greatest lesson that the livestock industry has taught you?

No matter who are or where you come from, all things can be accomplished. There is no mountain too high or goal too high that cannot be achieved.

What is some advice that you would give to the showmen and cattlemen just starting out?

Stick to your guns. Just because someone tells you that you aren’t doing something right, it is important to stick to what is true to you. You should never doubt yourself, because the only thing standing in your way is you.

What is your best memory?

Being selected as Premier Herdsman in 2011 at the National Western Stock Show is my best memory and biggest honor. You can have 50 National Champions and it still does not mean any more than the people who you know and trust to give you that honor – it is the greatest honor there is.
