SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES:

Some of the sustainable strategies adopted is the usage of solar panels in order to have gain optimal levels of solar energy to convert the energy for heaters and ACs in the building. Having planned openings throughout the building in order to maximize solar gain and in some spaces opted the compact style of buildings in cold regions so that the heat gain can stay trapped for longer in places that don't receive enough or direct sunlight

DUBAI FERRY

TRANSPORTATION HUB

This design mainly focuses on creating a sense of escapism through the use of connecting main factors such as humans, nature and technology. Nature is the key aspect here trying to mimic the curves and control the wildness of nature is the challenge here in this design. As proposed earlier changes have made by making the space alloted to building much more seemless and allowed all types of apartments to be present Furthermore we will look at functionings of each space and use of each building type

BIOME

HATTA CITY

This design mainly focuses on creating a sense of escapism through the use of connecting main factors such as humans, nature and technology. Nature is the key aspect here trying to mimic the curves and control the wildness of nature is the challenge here in this design. As proposed earlier changes have made by making the space alloted to building much more seemless and allowed all types of apartments to be present Furthermore we will look at functionings of each space and use of each building type

Objectives:

Water canals are n the Hatta s adamant y incre the “natural” aspects of the with water bodies vegetat on

Principles: S W O T

One of the ma or strengths is the raw potential of the site Being located next to a water body and a very popular dubai getaway, attracted users to the space can be done easily

A weakness being that the area surround ng the site and the overall city present there is very under developed. Hence, the lack of tourist movement within hatta

Using the ameneties a ready prov ded it is easy to ass comp imenting features that are needed by users of regular spaces, also the lack of a retail ameneties helps in drawing in other users from outside by offer ng something new.

Due to a strong cu tural background no major change can be done within the space otherwise the disrupt of qua ity of l fe wil be too much for locals to handle hence resulting in reject on

NATURALCONSTRAINTS In our curren area of work, two s gn ficant natura constra nts are ev dent First the presence o a water dam along he north s de of our selected site requ res us to account for water evels and sensory aspects like odor Second, the steep elevation of up to 20 meters on the sites north s de poses chal enges for and uti ization and user experience enhancement

The most prominent natural feature around the site is the water channel moving along the east of the site.

The topography is quite abrupt since Hatta is in a mountainous region

There isn t much natural greenery and most of the vegetation are located in the farmlands that span throughout Hatta.

There are many outdoor activities in Hatta towards the southern region utilizing the water bodies

Considering the weather and climate, there is a severe lack of indoor activities, making Hatta only viable as a vacation home during the winter for a resident

There is a lack of open spaces in the residential areas

There are two parks to the North and South of the site

Spatial descripti

Designated area for green and commercial space

Designated area for commercial and tourism.

Instead of following the common boxed buildings seen in metropolitan cities and implementing homey villas that are already present around the site, the approach here is to have more organic forms vertically and horizontally to mimic the waves in the sand and to make a seamless connection between each building for connectivity and natural flow of traffic

Building types

Tourism buildings are mostly on the east side of the plan as it is next to the promenade and having water features next to it also promotes the reasoning as to why the touristic attractions would be in that side, also the very top of the hill is the cultural center that acts as a focal point for the site and a viewing deck for the entire cityscape.

Residential buildings are mainly on the left hand side though they share mixed functions this area is for the families and visitors who only plan to stay for a day or for few hours. Hence the connective design in order to promote more interaction between the community and easy access from both the residential and tourism side to the centrral green space

Multi-purpose

Although for classification purposes both areas are defined as residential and tourism but in reality one of the main concepts is to have multiple mixed use buildings to accommodate the needs of users through every space and to have a controlled flow of traffic through each space if needed, this is done through building forms and accommodation of activities within each space

Highest point on the site standing at30-35 meters

Area with most 4 - 5 story buildings for more living space

Area designated to night life along the promenade with a max. Height of 2 stories

Designated area for a bus stop to promote public transportation and increase pedestrian access through the space

The dotted line and red path shows bike path and road access through the site.

Area expected to have night life for youngsters andmainky consists of 3 story buildings.

Drawing inspiration from contemporary designs a structure with extended floors were made to give shape to the organic form. These extensions act as shading for the apartments located one below the other

An open entrance that allows the nature to pass through the center and be a part of the building and its users to create that sense of inclusivity and creates a grand entrance for the users.

On the right hand side we see the inspirations for the building form and interiors Trying to follow the same color palette as well to mimic the sand dunes that helped create its form.

Moving away from creating tall boxed sky scrapers that can be seen anywhere and implementing new forms for a community that are unseen in the region.

Urban Design Proposal

Green roofs for shared gardening by the community and passively cools the area, also provides a greener aesthetic incorporated with the oasis design as per the requirements of the masterplan episodes.

Between both the buildings through the form of the structure itself another atrium is created that can be used as a outdoor seating space for the restaurants.

Extrusion made can be used for various activities such as swimming, outdoor picnics and viewpoint for the site and hatta mountains.

Close proximity of the buildings allows for easy connection between both structures and shared resources

Atrium used as a main design element that is present in almost every buildinjg to create forms but mainly for natural light to be provided through out the building and creation of new shared spaces.

PUBLIC SPACES POND

PARK

An interactive pond park for all ages to enjoy and have a pleasant walk. Experience tranquility as you step through this space and interact with the aquatic beings present in the ecosystem.

The open market allows residents to buy from local suppliers and allows them to sell h0omemade goods of their own.

OPEN MARKET

AMPHITHEATRE PLAY AREA

Experience rich culture and tradition through frequent plays hosted here by the residents and outsiders. Take part in cultural plays for kids and enjoy the time with family.

Camping themed forest for students visiting the cultural site and wish to stay the night. Escaping from home

ART INSTALLATIONS

Playgrounds that have slash pods for kids and all kinds of equipment for all ages. Also includes an area for birthday parties and various outdoor celebrations

Promenade water activities includes a ride into the damn, kayaking and a boat ride through the site

CAMPING WATER ACTIVITIES

Art installations are of upmost importance in the community as it promotes local artists and creates a healthier society By enriching in local or various other cultures artworks the community will grow closer and have a better understadning of each other helping them connect better This also brings about various opportunities to have art exhibitons and iconic work put here later in the future

In order to visually integrate the areas and create a more welcome and accessible environment, the building is positioned to face the main pedestrian path. The sole practical point of access, which causes the least amount of traffic, is still the vehicular access point, even if it slopes toward the underground parking Seating and shading mechanisms have been included to improve user comfort In order to encourage users to engage with the building s natural overhang, outside amenities like food trucks and sport courts are positioned beneath it

SOLAR PANELS

CIRCULATION

The focus on ensuring that the exterior facade not only enhances the overall aesthetic appeal but also serves practical purposes. Our design incorporates features such as weatherresistant materials and insulation layers to protect the building from environmental elements and improve energy efficiency. Additionally, we prioritize the integration of solar control elements and UV protection coatings to optimize indoor comfort and preserve interior materials. Our goal is to create a space that not only looks visually appealing but also promotes sustainability, durability, and occupant well-being.

The design has ample access points not requiring the user to have prolonged walks within the building. The section also shows the overhang the building has, since it is quite far away from existing support columns, a cantilever system would aid in supporting this load.

place a strong emphasis on thoughtful space allocation and circulation design. Our approach involves carefully planning the layout to ensure optimal use of space while prioritizing user experience and functionality. By strategically allocating areas for different functions and activities, we create a harmonious environment that promotes productivity and comfort. Additionally, our circulation design focuses on creating intuitive pathways that facilitate smooth movement and interaction between spaces. Whether it's through well-placed corridors, open atriums, or dynamic spatial arrangements, our goal is to foster connectivity and engagement while maximizing the efficiency of movement throughout the building. By combining thoughtful space allocation with intuitive circulation design, we aim to create a space that not only meets the needs of its occupants but also inspires creativity and collaboration.
