Not long ago over dinner your name came up. A wonderful story of you as a boy, and who you have come to be. I have always loved your music, but after learning more about you, it is your heart that I might admire even more.

You might be small, but you can act BIG.

My very favorite charity is CCA, the Children’s Cancer Association. They believe in the power of music so much, they have a program called Music Rx® to help sooth and delight hospitalized children. “Our flagship program delivers bedside music therapy, hallway performances and an interactive mobile music cart that travels through every unit of the hospital.”

“We use scientifically proven therapeutic benefits of music to create a soothing escape, a lively diversion and an easy way to express emotions.

Our magical mobile music cart is custom- designed to hold nearly 100 specialized instruments, interactive songwriting and recording technology and karaoke alongside an iPod lending library docked and loaded with music for every age.�

What I love about you is your happy, kind heart and how you can bring people together with your music.

It would be amazing if we could put together a one day festival where CCA kids and families can come celebrate life, and invite the community to join us.

We could put on a summer show at Jeld-Wen field where the Portland Timbers play soccer. We can celebrate CCA children and their families–to laugh out loud and dance and sing with our kids and families. It is a day for healthy kids to realize how important it is to give back. It is a day for us to celebrate and give thanks for our healthy children and to raise money for CCA and Music Rx.Ž

We will partner up with wearsmyshirt.com, and everyone who comes to the show can get a purple CCA t-shirt to show their support!

It will have a special code inside so kids and their grownups can post about CCA volunteer efforts, submit photos from the concert and tell friends how to get involved with their favorite cause-CCA! Proceeds from sales will also go to CCA.

Everyone who comes to the show will also get a fleece sugarlump. The sugarlump has the special code inside its back pocket so kids and their grownups can build an online community of support for CCA and learn how to sprinkle some sugar for the cause.

Not only will we have a day of fun and celebration, but it will leave behind a lifetime of memories. It will remind little ones to do what they can to help others, and it will remind grownups how amazing it feels to spread love and teach compassion.

Mostly I would like to leave behind these sugarlumps as beacons of hope. And when little children are in the hospital they can be comforted by their music and know in their hearts that little children (and grownups) they don’t even know love them very much.
