APRIL
This was a month of remarkable contrasts. W. winds on Ist and 2nd, 6th to lOth, and 21st to 30th were accompanied by day maxima of 15°C. and above; but the intervening periods with E. winds and overcast skies were very cold with day maxima of 5°C. and night frosts on 13th and 20th. Snow feil early on 14th and Iay until afternoon. Rainfall was heavy, particularly in the first three weeks of the month, when there were only four days without rain. MAY
The month opened with two days of cloudless skies and temperatures up to 25°C. on 2nd. Winds then turned W. and conditions became more variable with a week of rainy days. Day temperature maxima settled at 20°C. or just below and small amounts of rain were recorded on most days. Winds were very strong from the S.W. on 19th and 23rd. From 26th onwards dry conditions prevailed, winds being E. Total rainfall was 1-48" on fifteen days. Av. Temp. +13°C.

JUNE
W. winds prevailed for the opening week. They then became E. and day maximum temperatures were well up, rising to 29°C. on 1 Ith. Thunderstorms were experienced on 16th and 17th with more than \ " rain on both days. Winds returned to the W. and rain was recorded on every day from 15th to 28th. Total rainfall was 2-38" on twenty days. Av. Temp. +17£°C.
