Dear Friends: Welcome to Justinian XXXIX, We Believe in… St. Francis Gentlemen.

It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating Justinian XXXIX, take two, a virtual experience. The Coronavirus 19 pandemic has forced many changes throughout the end of the last school year and pretty much for this year. However, we have learned and have experienced that we are stronger together because we have the same vision of our mission. Administration, faculty, staff and student body have pulled together and have successfully demonstrated that in school education can take place safely. I believe many of the changes have been positive and will help to enhance the educational experience at St. Francis High School.

Our commitment remains unchanged: To provide the young men of St. Francis a quality education in the Franciscan tradition that has remained a constant one since the school opened in 1927.

The Justinian Dinner Auction, named after our founder, Fr. Justin Figas, has generated revenues over the past 38 years to allow generations of young men to attend St. Francis High School, even if they did not have the means to do so. Today, you, the benefactors and friends of St. Francis, can continue to make a difference in the lives of young men. Your generosity and support of Justinian helps tremendously to ensure that future generations reap the benefits of a Franciscan Education right here at St. Francis High School.

An auction like the Justinian is only possible with the help of many people working together. Thank you to all who have helped in any way. A special thanks to this year’s co-chairs Tom ’96 and Kara Bestpitch, Dave and Laurie Syta, and Matt ’85 and Kelly Jaworski. I also need to express thanks to Patrick and Christa Sgroi, Dave and Lisa Stapleton along with Al and Kelly Stutz who worked on Justinian XXXIX, first take, prior to the shutdown. To all the parents, alumni, alumni parents, friends, faculty, staff, business associates and students who have either volunteered or have donated the hundreds of gifts for the auction, thank you.

We all share in the legacy of the original Justin Drivers, great benefactors of St. Francis, who raised the necessary funds to build this institution.

We would like to thank our Justinian XXXIX co-chairs, both sets of them, for all of their hard work and especially their patience over these past two years as we battled the uncertainty of the pandemic. When the co-chairs for Justinian XXXIX were first announced in September of 2019 none of us had any idea what was looming on the horizon. This group included Al & Kelly Stutz, David & Lisa Stapleton and Pat & Christa Sgroi, and they began their co-chair journey in the traditional way. They attended numerous gift-gathering parties, secured sponsorships and even began some decorating tasks when the world closed down in March of 2020.

Unfortunately, we had to postpone Justinian XXXIX until this year and even now, it is not our traditional event with over 500 people in the gyms. Our original group of co-chairs decided to step aside to make way for a new group of co-chairs for the Virtual Justinian Auction. This group consists of Tom ’96 & Kara Bestpitch, Matt ’85 & Kelly Jaworski and David & Laurie Styta.

Since we couldn’t have gift gathering parties, their duties were more labor intensive and included working not one but two Chiavettas Chicken BBQ’s as well as gathering gift cards and liquor for our Build-A-Basket event. While the two groups of co-chairs had vastly different experiences, their dedication and hard work was in traditional Justinian spirit and for this, we are grateful!

Evenhouse Printing Still Believes in Focused Customer Service Just 21 years ago, the brother and sister team of Peter and Robin Evenhouse embarked on a new adventure. As co-founders of Evenhouse Printing, they combined their 40 years of experience and opened their own printing business. Their goal was to give customers in their area affordable solutions to create agency-quality graphics, print and bindery services right here in the Southtowns - and they did it!

Meet St. Francis High School Evenhouse Printing is the preferred choice for St. Francis High School’s printing needs. Over the years our school has grown and so have our print demands. We increased our efforts to grow our brand and we knew we needed a printer who could consistently meet our expectations.

“Evenhouse really knows us”, said Sue Schaffstall, Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

“Robin, Peter and the entire staff know what we need and expect, they understand how important branding is to us and always deliver a consistent product of the highest quality, on time.

Starting out in their hometown of Eden with just themselves and 700 square feet of shop space, they quickly grew - in size, reputation, technologies, and the professional services they could provide. In 2005, they relocated to a larger shop in Hamburg, and then again, in 2008, to an even larger shop that is their current 10,000 square-foot home on Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg.

“We have really grown our partnership over the past few years. It started with a few smaller jobs and now they handle a wide range of our printing needs from our Open House materials to our school calendar, signage for our Justinian Dinner Auction and our bulk and first class mailing needs.

But it wasn’t just their physical facilities that expanded to meet the company’s growth: their work force expanded. Additional pressmen, customer service representatives and artists joined the Evenhouse team, which now numbers 10 fulltime, experienced professionals.
