The Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of

programs, (recreational, educational, and creative) covering a multitude of age groups and varied abilities. The District’s goal is to offer residents the highest quality of life in the Brushy Creek Community by providing the best level of water and wastewater, parks and recreation and other services in the most cost-effective manner.

Hairy Man 5K Race

Hatha flow yoga uses a sequence of movements that “flow” with the breath in a vigorous series to build strength and increase endurance, flexibility, and muscle tone. Classes are appropriate for yoga students who have practiced yoga for at least one month and are seeking a stronger physical workout in their yoga practice.

Aerobic Class Descriptions The Aerobics Class Schedule is posted at the community center and online at www.bcmud.org (Recreation > Fitness). Possible class offerings are described below. Most classes are free to Members. Residents and Non-residents may purchase a punch card for 10 classes. Senior ID Pass holders may attend the classes indicated with an *.

Ab Lab: A unique 30-minute workout that specifically targets the core. By using a wide variety of different exercises, you will strengthen and tone your abs like never before! Tues & Fri 10:05-10:30am

BC Combat/Kickboxing: A high intensity kickboxing class with punching and kicking series. Abdominal toning & muscle sculpting, along with stretching at the end of the class, provide a full body, well balanced workout. Tues & Fri 9:05-10:05am

Body Blast: Looking for a way to work on strength and cardio all in one great class? Body Blast is your answer! This is your one-stop shop for getting a great workout. This class will keep you coming back for more! Tues & Thurs 5:40-6:20am

Come out and play one of the fastest growing racquet sports! Pickleball is played on a badminton court with a low net like tennis. A wood or composite paddle along with a wiffle-type ball is used. Think of it as ping-pong mixed with tennis on a badminton court. Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghost, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Of the various forms of classical dance in India, Bharatanatyam is believed to be the oldest. Bharatanatyam is poetry in motion. A highly traditional and stylized dance form practiced by many both in India and abroad. The children will learn basic, intermediate and some advance adavus (steps) in the first year.

Parents go out and kids stay in! Enjoy sports, games, playground time, and entertainment - all supervised by our staff. Dinner and a snack are provided. Don’t forget your sleeping bag for movie time! Advance registration is required and space is limited. (Children must be potty trained).

Pre-registration for programs is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If a class has not made its minimum by 7 days prior to start date, it may be cancelled. See separate registration date requirements for Leagues. No reminders are sent when classes or events begin.

Community Center Members receive special rates for many classes, activities, and room rentals. Residents receive reduced rates on room rentals, some programs, and some Parks and Recreation activities.

Refund requests must be made to the BCMUD 7 days before the class or program begins.

Grand Opening Celebration Details at Coming Soon! www.bcmud.org Holiday in the Park with Craft Fair & Jingle Run 5K Kick off Holiday in the Park with the Jingle Run 5K. Families are encouraged to participate in the run then stay and enjoy Holiday in the Park. The annual Holiday In the Park will include a trackless train, bounce castles, face painting, performances by local groups, crafts, cookies, holiday craft show*, hot chocolate and pictures with Santa. Don’t forget your camera! 5K registration - see page 16.

Community Center Open House We want a chance to meet you and show you what the Community Center has to offer! Join us for an Open House and learn all that we have going on! There will be hors d’oeuvres, punch, center tours, a chance to meet your neighbors and ask questions. Activities for the kids will be held in the Game Room, Child Play Room and the Gym.

Trout Fishing Derby 2017

Join us at Shirley McDonald Park for our 2017 Trout Fishing Derby! Rods and reels will be available to borrow, if you don’t own your own. Measurement of fish size and quantity caught during the event will be recorded and used for awarding prizes. Requirements for Cub Scouts for the fishing badge and pin will be worked on during the event. Please note: A fishing license is not required for children under 17 in the state of Texas; however, ages 17 and older must have a license. Trout fishing in Texas and Parks & Wildlife Guidelines.
