Pre-registration for programs is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If a class has not made its minimum by 7 days prior to start date, it may be cancelled. See separate registration date requirements for Leagues. No reminders are sent when classes or events begin.

Community Center Members receive special rates for many classes, activities, and room rentals. Residents receive reduced rates on room rentals, some programs, and some Parks and Recreation activities.

Refund requests must be made to the BCMUD 7 days before the class or program begins.

Unescorted Minors Minors who are not 10 years old AND have not commenced 5th grade of school may not be left unattended in the Community Center unless they are participating in a supervised program or accompanied by a member 16 years of age or older, or accompanied by an individual 18 years of age or older who has purchased a Day Pass. *Minors, 5th grade - 17 years, must have a Release Form signed by their parent(s) or guardian before they will be permitted to enter the Community Center. Support Your Local Youth Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District Youth Scholarship Program Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District offers financial assistance for eligible youth to participate in Parks and Recreation classes, programs, and activities.

The exclusive source of funding for the program is private donations. Funds of the District may not be used to provide financial assistance. As a result, the availability and amount of any financial assistance is subject to the receipt of private donations by the District to fund the program.

Donations are accepted for the youth scholarship program. If you are interested, please contact the Community Center Coordinator at b.schultz@bcmud.org.

Kinderdance I

Kinderdance II

This is the beginning level of Kinderdance for the dancer that is new to dance. Class will focus on the basic skills of ballet and tap. Skills for ballet include: first & second position of the feet, 5 arms of ballet, plie, releve, sautĂŠ and bourree. Skills for tap include: toe taps, heel digs, toe tap back, shuffles and slides. Each session builds upon skills learned in the previous session.

Kindertots

Kindergym

Kindertots is a creative movement based class for our 2-year olds. The focus of the class is on motor skill development, physical development and pre-dance skills.

Parent participation is encouraged in this fun class that utilizes age appropriate music and lots of fun props.

Kindergym is a beginning tumbling class for children ages 3-5 years old. Students will learn the basics of tumbling across the mat, individual skills (forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, etc.) and balance beam skills.

This is the next level of Kinderdance for the dancer that has had Kinderdance Level 1 beginning and intermediate or previous dance experience. Skills for tap include: shuffle hop, shuffle hop toe, flap ball-change, cramp rolls Kinderdance I & Kinderdance II and skills across the floor. Visit our 5268 foot-long,18-hole Disc Golf Course located on the Liberty Walk Greenbelt on Liberty Walk Drive across the street from Cat Hollow Park.

The BC Sports and Fitness Department is proud to offer a Disc Golf Tournament held at the Cat Hollow Disc Golf Course. The tournament will be a two-person scramble format. Advanced Swimming Pre-requisite: Students must be comfortable in deep water and able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing and 25 yards of backstroke.

Junior Polar Bear Club Swimmers 12 years and under will be challenged to swim a designated number of laps in 1 month (31 days). Swimmers who complete the challenge will receive a Brushy Creek Aquatics Jr. Polar Bear Club long-sleeve shirt*. Tracking sheets will be kept at the Sendero Springs Pool. Swimmers 8 years & under must swim 176 laps; 9 & 10 year olds must swim 352 laps; 11 & 12 year olds must swim 528 laps. *To be eligible for the T-shirt, swimmers must track their laps each time they swim on the tracking sheet and have their parents and a Brushy Creek Lifeguard initial their daily total. To receive the T-shirt, swimmers must complete the challenge and have their parents register them for the course online or in person at the Brushy Creek Community Center.

Learn beginning through intermediate swimming skills at an age-appropriate pace. Instructors will create a lesson plan specifically for your needs, whether you are afraid of the water or just need some pointers.

This class is taught in chest-deep water.

Water Aerobics After a stressful day, you will leave this class in a relaxed state. The warm water creates a massaging, protective environment for injured muscles or arthritic joints so you can move with less effort. Exercise to the music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s while enjoying the fun and friendship of this invigorating, relaxing class.

The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program (AFAP) is a group, recreational, water-based exercise program designed specifically for people with arthritis and related ailments. Warm water exercises are aimed at building endurance, strengthening muscle, and improving range of motion.

This course certifies participants as American Red Cross Lifeguards, the most in demand lifeguard certification in the United States. Participants that successfully complete the course will receive a Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED certification valid for 2 years. This is the required certification to work as a lifeguard for the Brushy Creek Aquatics Department as well as numerous other pools/aquatic departments in the area.

The annual Holiday In the Park will include a trackless train, bounce castles, face painting, performances by local groups, crafts, cookies, holiday craft show*, hot chocolate and pictures with Santa. Community Center Open House & Town Hall Meeting We want a chance to meet you and show you what the Community Center has to offer! Join us for an Open House and learn all that we have going on! There will be hors d’oeuvres, punch, center tours, a chance to meet your neighbors and ask questions.

Activities for the kids will be held in the Game Room, Child Play Room and the Gym. Annual Town Hall meeting begins at 6pm.

Christmas Tree Recycling, Tree Seedling Give Away SATURDAY January 9 & Pancake Breakfast Please have your Christmas tree (with all decorations & stand removed) at the curb by 7:00am on Saturday, January 9, 2016, for recycling. Trees will also be accepted at the Community Park behind the Sam Bass #2 Fire Station from December 26 through January 10. Join us for pancakes and a tree seedling give away on Saturday, January 9.

Trout Fishing Derby 2016 Join us at Shirley McDonald Park for our 2016 Trout Fishing Derby! Rods and reels will be available to borrow, if you don’t own your own. Measurement of fish size and quantity caught during the event will be recorded and used for awarding prizes.

Requirements for Cub Scouts for the fishing badge and pin will be worked on during the event.

Please note: A fishing license is not required for children under 17 in the state of Texas; however, ages 17 and older must have a license. Trout fishing in Texas and Parks & Wildlife Guidelines.
