The recent warmer weather means that, in between work, I have spent much more time relaxing in the sunshine, walking the dog (when its not too hot) and generally more outdoor life. Which has been great but means my house seems to have more clutter than usual for some reason. So I am in a decluttering and 'spring phase. Cleaning out cupboards I haven't been in for ages and organising my and wardrobe. It's what to do with the clutter. Clothes are easy and fairly quick - they go to the local charity shop or for recycling if they are a bit worse for wear. Some things are clearly not worth doing anything with so they go to the recycling centre if they can. It's the 'other stuff' that I find challenging. Things that I no longer want or need in the house but which have nothing necessarily wrong with them. Of course some can go to the charity shop but what about the things they don't want. 'Green guilt' stops me dumping them in the skips at the recycling centre. So I know I will end up decluttering the house and recluttering the garage! I could try and sell some of it but I know from past experience how much time that takes up and how little money I usually make at the end of it. So most of it will probably get advertised as freebies on the local Facebook groups or in Freecycle. Yes it will take ages but at the end of the day I will feel better that I have recycled and done my bit for the Ienvironment.justneedto set myself a target to declutter the clutter and regain the garage again. Wish me luck.

Earlier this month, we received the welcome news that Edinburgh will become the first short-term let control area in Scotland. This means that the change of use of an entire dwelling from a principal home to a short-term let will need planning permission. This should reduce the number of properties that are unsuitably used as short-term lets and cause issues with noise and anti-social behaviour for neighbours.
In my first few weeks as a new councillor, I’ve benefited enormously from briefings by Council officers on topics from education to health and social care, and from licencing to the state of the finances. That last briefing was extremely sobering, as the medium-term financial outlook is not rosy. Even so, the Council is acutely aware that it needs to focus on priorities that are most important to the city and its people. Our message of “getting the basics right” has been heard loud and clear. But we must also make sure that we support residents across the city during this increasing cost of living crisis, and that we move much faster on reducing harmful emissions to reach our net-zero targets. It was good to see all parties on the Council reaffirm their commitment to these urgent issues shortly before the Council’s summer recess.
Joining me in the Forth Ward are returning Councillor Day (Labour), and newly elected Cllrs Dobbin (SNP) and O’Neill (Green Party). I look forward to working with them to serve our communities as best we can. I also want to pay tribute to Trinity resident and former councillor Jim Campbell, who was a regular contributor to Trinity Spotlight. I wish him the very best with what comes next. Across the city, the local election results and subsequent negotiations did not lead to a proposal for a majority administration. At the first Full Council meeting in May, councillors were asked to vote for either an SNP/Green minority coalition or a Labour minority administration. The latter option received most support across the Chamber (including from the Lib Dem group). Given the balance of seats on the Council, parties will need to reach across party-political lines to get things done. Perhaps a chance for a more cooperative form of politics? Time will tell – but I’m all for it.
Let me say again that I am here to help, represent and report back to you. You will soon receive my first Focus leaflet in my new capacity, which will have updates on a number of local issues including details of proposals for communal bin hubs in tenemented areas within Trinity and Newhaven, and news of the much-needed upgrade of the small playpark in Victoria Park. I also plan to launch a regular email newsletter to which you can subscribe (details above). Thank you, once again, for giving me the opportunity to serve our area as your local councillor!
I am delighted to write this update for you as a newly-elected Lib Dem councillor for the Forth Ward. First of all, I want to thank everyone who put their trust in me. It’s an absolute honour and privilege to represent this beautiful area for the next five years. I am determined to be an active voice for you on the Council and have already had an opportunity to work on a wide range of local issues that residents raised with me, and even resolve a few!

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses the power of suggestion to encourage positive change. For many, it is an incredibly effective form of treatment and one that can have many benefits, from weight management, managing anxiety, easing stress and encouraging relaxation, to quitting negative habits such as sugar, smoking and alcohol, as well as busting phobias like fear of flying, spiders etc. on the client and their reasons for seeking hypnotherapy, sometimes just one session may be all that’s needed to bring about positive change, or it may require a number Clients can also be taught self-hypnosis techniques to continue their treatment after

“My name is Jeanette and I've had Relapse Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) for 10 years. I was medically retired three years ago due to MS. Multiple Sclerosis has no cure and plays havoc on your body, mental health, and your life. I see myself as fortunate because I am still mobile and independent with the support of aids and support networks. I recently tried the AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill – it’s a treadmill with zero gravity that allows those with mobility issues to walk and run again. Chris is my inspiration, he’s a 36 yearold husband and father who was diagnosed with MS six years ago. His condition deteriorated quickly and he uses an electric wheelchair to get about. I watched Chris walking on the treadmill for 30 seconds and it completely blew me away. He can normally only walk a couple of steps I’m embarking on an ambitious Alternative Three Peaks Challenge for people less fortunate than myself, to raise £40,000 to purchase an AltG Anti-Gravity Treadmill for the Compass Centre, a charity that works with those who are managing neurological conditions in the Lothians and surrounding areas. One of the best things about running a small private fitness studio is that as a Personal Trainer I can help people who really need it. Over the last 17 years I’ve helped many clients reach personal goals and enjoy adventures. Over lockdown I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jeanette, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) a decade ago. We’ve been doing weekly studio sessions, and Skype webcam workouts too. Over the last two years I’ve seen Jeanette’s balance and strength improve, and now she’s tackling Three Peaks for a fundraiser.
