SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES
Friday, November 7th, 2025 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Barrie Colts
Tonight, the Sudbury Wolves play host to the Barrie Colts in the second half of a home-and-home series. Last night, Barrie came out on top with a 6-2 win, evening out the season series at one win apiece. With the teams set to meet twice more in November, this rivalry is sure to intensify down the stretch. The Wolves enter tonight's matchup sitting 5th in the Central Division with a record of 4-12-1-0, including a 3-2-1-0 record at home, and a 1-10-0-0 record on the road. The Colts are currently positioned 2nd in the Central Division with an 87-0-3 record. At home, the Colts have a 6-4-0-2 record with a road record of 2-3-0-1.
Now in his fourth season with the Colts, centreman Cole Beaudoin has had an impressive start to the season. Selected 24th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the Utah Mammoth, Beaudoin has carried that momentum into his return to the OHL. After joining the Colts in early October following NHL camp, the Colts had only one win in their first five games. Since returning, Beaudoin has helped drag the team out of their early-season slump, helping lift the Colts to a 7-5-0-1 record with him in the lineup. Beaudoin currently leads the Colts charge offensively, with 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists) in 13 games, good for the team lead. This season, Beaudoin was named co-captain alongside Islanders prospect Kashawn Aitcheson. This will mark Beaudoin’s third year as part of the Colts' leadership group, a testament to his leadership displayed both on and off the ice.
Now in his fifth and final season in the OHL, overage forward Chase Coughlan continues to be a steady and reliable presence for the Sudbury Wolves. Through 17 contests this season, Coughlan has recorded 10 points, tying him for third on the team in scoring and second in goals with six. Despite the Wolves’ early-season challenges, Coughlan has remained a constant source of hustle and intensity, providing his relentless work ethic and hard-nosed style of play that fans, teammates, and coaches have come to appreciate. As the season progresses, the veteran forward will look to draw on his experience and leadership, setting the tone both on and off the ice as the Wolves aim to climb the Eastern Conference standings.

A CLASH OR TWO WITH THE COLTS IS ALWAYS A BIG DEAL by Randy Pascal
With their annual eight game series with the Barrie Colts only just beginning – the teams meet for the second and third time in 2025-2026 with a home and home this weekend – and all signs pointing to a great race in the middle-of-the-pack portion of the Eastern Conference Central Division, the games that lie just ahead or likely more paramount than normal for the Sudbury Wolves.
A STREAK OF SUDBURY SUCCESS THAT WOULD BE NICE TO EXTEND by Randy Pascal
With their 5-3 triumph over the visiting Colts back on October 24th (Alex Pharand, Kieron Walton and Nathan Villeneuve paced the attack with three points each), the Wolves extended their current winning streak against Barrie to four games. A sweep of the encounters set for this Thursday in Barrie and Friday in northern Ontario would still bring Sudbury only two-thirds of the way to setting a new all-time record in this series.
From February 23rd (2019) through to March 5th (2020), the Wolves racked up nine straight wins against the Colts. That stretch of success was kicked off on the road as Sudbury stormed back from a 4-2 second period deficit, netting the final four goals of the game as two goal efforts from Nolan Hutcheson and Quinton Byfield paced the team to a 6-4 win.
The March 5th (2020) battle, also in Barrie, would be the third to last game that the Wolves would play before Covid turned the world upside down. A Blake Murray hat trick showed the way in an 8-3 victory as fans of the team were salivating at the playoff dreams of a squad that held down first place in the Central prior to the derailment of all things sports.
GAME NIGHT & PROMOTIONS
Friday’s game is proudly sponsored by Floors and Extras, who will be giving away Shoresy merch throughout the game to some lucky members of Wolves Nation. Wolves Nation are also encouraged to visit their table in the lower concourse for information on how to win these prizes.
