SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES

Friday, November 28th, 2025 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Barrie Colts

For the fifth time this season, and the fourth time at the Sudbury Community Arena, the Wolves and Colts are set to clash once again. The rivals last met just over a week ago, when Barrie skated away with a 5-2 victory, extending their lead in the season series to 3-1. The Colts enter the den looking to extend a 12-game point streak, while Sudbury aims to snap that momentum, get back in the win column, and make a statement against their division rivals. The Wolves enter tonight's matchup sitting 5th in the Central Division with a record of 6-17-1-0, including a 5-6-1-0 record at home, and a 1-11-0-0 record on the road. The Colts are currently positioned 1st in the Central Division with a 13-7-1-4 record. At home, the Colts have a 7-4-1-2 record with a road record of 6-3-0-2.

Playing in his first OHL season with the Colts, Cole Emerton is putting together an impressive rookie campaign. Selected 50th overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Emerton has emerged as a strong offensive presence on the Colts' blueline, posting one goal and 13 assists for 14 points through 24 outings, placing him second among Colts defencemen in scoring, as well as second among rookie defencemen in the OHL. Emerton's first career goal came in the third period of the team's last meeting against Sudbury, where it served as the game-winner in a 5-2 victory.

Selected by the Wolves in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, Hudson Martin has earned a full-time role on the Wolves' blueline this season. Having appeared in 21 games so far in his rookie campaign, Martin has contributed six assists, with his offensive game picking up momentum in recent weeks. He notched an assist in each of his last two outings and recorded three points across two contests earlier this month against the rival Barrie Colts, highlighting his growing impact on the Wolves’ lineup. Martin will l ook to build on his recent success, continuing to provide offence from the Wolves' back end with steady defensive play.

A BREAK FROM THE BARRIE COLTS WOULD BE NICE by Randy Pascal

The Friday battle between Barrie and Sudbury will mark the fourth time the teams have met in this month alone, with the local juniors still looking for their first win, outscored 17-7 in the first three clashes with the Colts. Though four meetings in a month might seem like a lot, this is hardly new territory for this divisional rivalry.

In fact, last November the teams mirrored this schedule as the Wolves recorded a win and a pair of overtime losses in the four game set. Prior to this, two game monthly sets were typically the max, with the occasional troika mixed in. In February of 2002, Sudbury took two of three from Barrie, toppling the Colts 5-2 in the rubber game on the 22nd as Jerry Connell netted a hat trick to lead the home team to victory.

Three years later, the Valentine month also smiled upon the northern crew in two of the three tete a tetes with their closest adversary to the south, the Wolves edging the Colts 3-2 on February 11th to sweep a home and home set before being edged 2-1 near the end of the month.

GAME NIGHT & PROMOTIONS

Friday’s game is proudly sponsored by Northern Hockey Academy. Join us for their second intermission Chuck-A-Puck, with big prizes on the line in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Friday’s Wolves game is a Hockey Fights Cancer event! $2 from every walk-up ticket goes to the Canadian Cancer Society. Fans can join the puck draw by purchasing a $20 lavender puck for a chance to pull one signed by Wolves leadership (Nathan Villeneuve, Kieron Walton, Alex Pharand, Rowan Henderson). I Fight For cards will let fans honour someone they fight cancer for during the pre-game ceremony, and everyone is encouraged to wear lavender to show support.

LOOKING AHEAD

Following tonight's matchup, the pack will hit the road this weekend for a two-game trip. The first game will be on Saturday in Brampton, where the Wolves face off against the Steelheads in a matinee matchup, with puck drop set for 4:00 pm. The Wolves will return to action the next day in Guelph, where they wrap up the trip against the Storm with game time at 2:07 pm. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by streaming games live with FloHockey at www.flohockey.tv.

The Wolves return to the Den on December 5th, where they are set to welcome the Sarnia Sting, with puck drop set for 7:05 pm. Tickets for all Wolves home games are available online at https://mpv.tickets.com and at the Sudbury Arena Box Office.
