SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES
Friday, December 5th, 2025 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Sarnia Sting
The Wolves and Sting are set to meet for the second time this season, and for the first time at the Sudbury Community Arena. Their initial matchup came back in September, when Sarnia skated away with a decisive 6–1 victory. With both teams entering tonight’s game hungry for points, viewers can expect a high-intensity battle as the Wolves look to even the season series against the Sting. The Wolves enter tonight's matchup sitting 5th in the Central Division with a record of 8-18-1-0, including a 6-6-1-0 record at home, and a 2-12-0-0 record on the road. The Sting are currently positioned 5th in the West Division with a 7-15-3-1 record. At home, the Sting have a 5-6-1-1 record with a road record of 2-9-2-0.
NHL Draft-eligible prospect Beckham Edwards has been a driving force this season for the Sarnia Sting. Building off an impressive rookie campaign last season, Edwards currently has 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 26 games, good enough for the team lead. Edwards' strong play this season also earned him a spot on Team CHL in Alberta in late November, where he represented the league alongside teammate Alessandro Di Iorio at the CHL USA Prospects Challenge. His success so far this season has caught the eyes of NHL scouts, with many viewing him as a consensus first-round pick. Edwards will look to make the most of his time in the OHL, further growing his game with the Sting to boost his draft stock and prepare for his commitment to the University of Notre Dame for the 2027-28 season.
Fresh off being named the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton is looking to keep his momentum rolling. Last week, the Wolves forward helped lead Sudbury to a 2-1 record, recording four goals and three assists, highlighted by a dramatic overtime winner in Brampton that lifted the Wolves past the Steelheads 2-1. Walton is also riding a 10-game point streak, picking up 16 points over that span and boosting his season totals to 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points in 22 games, tying him for seventh in OHL scoring. He’s currently on track for his most productive OHL season yet, pacing to surpass the 100-point mark, a feat achieved by a Wolves player only four times in the past quarter-century. As the season approaches its winter break, Walton will look to help guide the Wolves into a strong stretch heading into the holiday season.
