THE Task Force Iwas Paputok will hold an inspection today (Monday, December 22) and tomorrow (Tuesday, December 23) in Cagayan de Oro City at shops that are selling firecrackers and similar items in connection with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve revelries. Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 10 spokesperson Engr. Noli dela Rita said that one of the techniques they have decided to try this year to prevent more firecracker injuries and implement a zero casualty program is to let the victims of previous firecracker incidents speak out. Dela Rita said that the Ms. Eleanor Cadampog and Ms Millie Fung distribute food gift packs to residents of barangay Awang, Opol, Misamis Oriental. CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The New Jian Hua Mining Corp. held its annual Christmas parties for its host communities in Opol and Manticao, Misamis Oriental, last Wednesday and Thursday. A total of 450 households in barangay Upper Malubog, Manticao, and 500 house-
holds in barangay Awang, Opol, benefited from the gift giving. New Jian Hua Mining representative Eleanor Cadampog said the gift packs included food items for noche buena with slippers and clothes for children. Cadampog said the activity was held in coordina-

Families bury kin, demand justice for bombing victims Reds declare truce for holidays, Pope’s visit
MALAYBALAY City––The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has declared a ceasefire for the holidays and during the visit of Pope Francis in January. In a statement dated sent Friday, the CPP ordered its armed wing, the New People’s Army, to observe a ceasefire during the following periods: 12:01 am of December 24, 2014 to 11:59 pm of December 26, 2014; 12:01 am of December 31, 2014 to 11:59 pm of January 1, 2015; and 12:01 am of January 15, 2015 to 11:59 pm of January 19, 2015. “During the aforementioned days, all units of the New People’s Army and people’s militia are ordered to desist from carrying out offensive operations against units and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police and the various armed paramilitary groups attached to the Government of the Philippines (GPH),” the declaration said. The CPP said the declaration is being issued “in solidarity with the Filipino people in their observance of traditional holidays which
coincides with the CPP anniversary celebrations on December 26”. “This ceasefire declaration is also being issued in deference to the upcoming visit of Roman Catholic patriarch Pope Francis which the Filipino people look forward to as an opportunity for religious celebration and to raise outstanding issues such as military abuses and violations of human rights and children’s rights, Hacienda Luisita and widespread landlessness, poverty and exploitation of peasants and workers, bureaucratic corruption and government neglect of calamity survivors and the poor,” it added. But the CPP also cautioned the NPA to remain in “active defense mode” and vigilant against attacks by the military and police on rebel territories. The CPP was founded on Dec. 26, 1968 and the NPA on March 29, 1969. The National Democratic Front, the umbrella of all underground Left-wing organizations in the country, has been engaged in on-and-off peace talks with the Philippine government since 1986. MALAYBALAY City–– Expressions of love and calls for justice highlighted today’s burial of two Central Mindanao University (CMU) students who were among the 10 people killed in the December 9 bombing of a passenger bus of Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) near the university’s main gate. Families and friends held solemn and emotional burial rites in two separate sites-Malaybalay’s Shepherds Meadow Memorial Park for Marielle E. Achacoso and Barangay Cabangahan Public Cemetery for Kim Lloyd Valiente. In both funerals, there was a common call for ac-
ceptance of their fate and a cry for justice. Ricardo Achacos o recalled his daughter’s achievements and attributes and called for the acceptance of her fate, even asking for prayers so that her soul may rest in peace. “I am sure she lived a happy live here on earth. Let us allow her (with our prayers) to be happy in heaven,” he said after the funeral mass at the cemetery’s chapel filled with relatives and friends. He said she was “a sweet, respectful girl and made the family laugh.” Her uncle, Rene, who described her as a good girl who was “ fond of jamming,”
believed that God has a plan for the family. Her friends recalled Marielle’s strong personality and encouragement in times when they were down. The Achacosos and many of those in attendance, including Marielle’s classmates, wore white t-shirts printed in the front with “We love you Marielle E. Achacoso” super imposed with a photo of the 17-year old first year accountancy student of CMU. Others wore shirts printed in the front with “Justice for Marielle E. Achacoso” and a graphics of a black ribbon next to the words. At the back of the shirts, there is also a mix of print:
“We love you Marielle E. Achacoso” and “Justice: 12-09-14” also next to a graphics of a black ribbon. Marielle’s classmates from elementary to college arrived in the burial with many of them staying up until the last shovel of soil was placed on top of her grave. Her parents and siblings released balloons tied in the form of a rosary to mark their goodbyes just after 11 a.m. In Cabangahan, the Valientes also buried 16-year old Kim Lloyd, a mechanical engineering student, next to the grave of a younger brother and his grandmother. Are we prepared for Christmas 2014? LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John’...” (Luke 1:13, the Holy Bible). -oooTHE THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: It is commonly believed that, as far as the New Testament of the Bible is concerned, the birth of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, was heralded first by the angel’s appearance to Mary, the chosen virgin, and Joseph, her would-be husband. A reading of Luke 1 however will reveal that there is another story in the New Testament that announced, much earlier, the coming of Jesus. This third story is actually the birth of John the Baptist, who appeared to be a “cousin” of Jesus (John’s mother, Elizabeth, and Mary, the mother Jesus, were cousins). John was the son of Elizabeth and Zechariah, both old and barren and, at that point,

were childless. The couple were both godly Israelites, descended from Aaron, the priest. Zechariah was in fact a priest whose duties included ministering at the altar. One day, as he went to the Altar, Zechariah was met by Gabriel, “the angel who stands in the presence of God.” Zechariah became very afraid, but Gabriel told him he must not be afraid because his prayers had been answered by God, as, in her old age, his wife Elizabeth will give birth to a son who will be named John.
-oooJOHN WAS TO MAKE PEOPLE PREPARED FOR THE LORD: Zechariah expressed doubt at the words of Gabriel and asked, “How can I be assured of this? I am an old man and my wife is too old, too.” Stung and evidently hurt, the angel told Zechariah he is an angel of God, and that because the priest did not believe what was told him about John, he, Zechariah, would not be able to speak. The point of interest in this story is the announcement that John was going to be born because he was mandated to make ready a people prepared for Jesus Christ. Let us see the New International Version of that story, which appears at Luke 1:12-17. It goes like this, with Gabriel speaking to Zechariah: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. “He will be a joy and delight to you, and many
will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. “And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord’…” -oooARE WE PREPARED FOR CHRISTMAS 2014? And so, as the entire Christendom prepares for Christmas 2014, it is well to ask and ponder: have we become a people prepared for the Lord? Are we heeding John’s purpose--are parents’ hearts turned to their children now, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous? Social irresponsibility, political immaturity
One wonders whether as a people we’re really fit for freedom or independence. In a family, a measure of a person’s readiness to earn his freedom and independence is sense of responsibility or maturity—which are usually indicated by behavior that bespeaks wisdom and prudence to carry on as a responsible individual. Social responsibility and political maturity could apply as well to a society that yearns for freedom and independence. In our case, we already have freedom and independence as a nation, but our sense of responsibility and political maturity are debatable. There’s plenty to question about our behavior as a society. During elections, for instance, when we have the opportunity to establish a government that we can trust, local or national, we choose candidates with dubious motives, attitudes, even loyalties. ***** We act like we don’t know that voting such people to positions of trust is inimical to the interests of society and a letdown for our republic’s need for good governance. And so, we get dysfunctional governance and a corrupt public service—a

contrarian phenomenon that typifies political immaturity. Take what’s happening in the run up to the 2016 elections. Vice President Jejomar Binay, who lusts after the presidency, has made it known that his No. 1 pick for senator is Manny Pacquiao, an undereducated boxer with no background, aptitude, or demonstrated competence for public service. For Jojo Binay to pick Pacman for a position requiring erudition and statesmanship is to inflict harm on our society. The guy can barely utter complete sentences, let alone expound coherent ideas! Nominating him is the height of social irresponsibility and political immaturity. *****
The Senate has an essential role in policy-making and legislation for our republic. A professional boxer’s popularity and billions in earnings cannot compensate for his ineligibility for the position. If social responsibility is the mark of a politicallymature leader, especially for one seeking recognition as a statesman, then we have in the vice president an unfit and irresponsible choice for president. It is enough—in fact, too much!—that the poor guy can’t even show up in the Lower House to warm the seat he doesn’t deserve. And it’s unacceptable political behavior that Pacman’s town mates reward him an honored seat in Congress for his pugilistic success. It takes a stretch of imagination to accept that Jojo Binay actually thinks a “Senator Manny Pacquiao” is capable of tackling the treaty-making and United Nations-related issues required of the Upper Chamber. ***** Of course it’s VP Binay’s prerogative to make decisions according to his best judgment. But if his desire to enthrone a boxer—an exemplary one, to be sure—in the Upper House represents
his best judgment, then God help us all! As for the good people of Makati, if it’s their will to indulge the Binay patriarch by supporting his ill-fitting ambition, God have mercy on the Philippines with its generations of Filipinos who fall victim to social irresponsibility and political immaturity! Other marks of political maturity are consistency and principled responses to issues. But we have this habit of clamoring for good governance even as we tolerate grafters and plunderers, thereby keeping our civilization from advancing. As Christmas and New Year approach, we are warned against using firecrackers and other pyrotechnics. But firecrackers and pyrotechnic factories are allowed to operate anyway. Why allow these to be manufactured at all? They bedevil our plazas, churchyards, parks, sidewalks, market places, and holiday crowds—and cause horrible injuries and casualties that fill up hospitals and medical clinics at a time when glad tidings and joy are being celebrated! Although earlier reports said 42 were injured, two more were added to the list last Wednesday during a forum held to release the insurance payment and local government assistance for the families of the victims. Zubiri added that with RTMI’s silence on the extortion threat, he might urge the opening of Bukidnon to new bus operators so RTMI will shape up. He said he knew of the extortion threats sent via text messages to RTMI officials lately. He said the moratorium on new franchises for bus operations should be lifted in Bukidnon. Lawyer Ariel Inton, member of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) who supervised the release of insurance claims of the families of the victims, said Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) is studying to lift the moratorium on bus franchises, which has been implemented since 1995. He said lifting the moratorium will depend on the increase in population and the development of certain areas that would now require more public transportation. Inton said DOTC is now studying which areas should be open for new franchises. “We will take note of the
concerns [raised by Zubiri] in Bukidnon. What makes us lift the moratorium is public demand – the need for transportation,” he added. But he admitted that they are very careful about lifting the moratorium because it might cause “over supply.” Zubiri said he will urge the Bukidnon provincial board to pass a resolution urging Congress to lift moratorium. He said he will seek a “special case” for Bukidnon because there is only one major bus operator in the province. Zubiri cited the lax security measures of RTMI as possibly an effect of lack of competition. He admitted that “in fairness” to the bus company, they have employed security guards in the bus terminal. But he said there is a need to do more. Zubiri announced that Bukidnon will operate six checkpoints for those entering Bukidnon starting early 2015 just like in Davao City. He said RTMI is mum on the issue of extortion as the possible motive behind the bombing even if police briefed him of their alleged payment of extortion money. Zubiri said RTMI management has denied any call, text or letter on extortion. But Zubiri said information from the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office said RTMI approached them on the matter of extortion. He added that the bombing cannot possibly be the handiwork of rebel groups. “This was not the work of the rebels. Navy recaptures vessel loaded with smuggled rice

AMBOANGA CITY – The vessel loaded with 10,000 sacks of smuggled rice worth P20 million that escaped from the Bureau of Customs’ (BoC) holding area was recaptured Thursday in Patikul, Sulu, a customs official disclosed. Miguel Pio Saquisami, BoC-Zamboanga district collector, said the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (Navforwem) recaptured the vessel, M/L Ayang, while it was about to unload its remaining cargo at a finger wharf in Patikul. M/L Ayang was among the four boats loaded with smuggled rice and logs the Navforwem intercepted last Monday at the shore of Barangay Recodo, this city. The four vessels loaded with 16,000 bags of rice and 4,500 Falcata logs were taken to the local wharf and turned over to the BoC. However, M/L Ayang
was discovered missing around 1 a.m. Tuesday “at the holding area of the port.” Saquisami said M/L Ayang is back at their holding area at the local wharf. It arrived here from Sulu shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. Saquisami disclosed they were informed that M/L Ayang, after its escape, had passed by the port of Maluso town in Basilan and unloaded at least 3,000 sacks of rice. Saquisami said the vessel’s crew even attempted to change the name of M/L
Ayang to M/L Dayang to hide it from the authorities. Chief Petty Officer Ronald Tolentino, Zamboanga Coast Guard Station deputy commander, said a P50,000 fine will be slapped against the owner of M/L Ayang “for departure without clearance.” The vessel, he said, will be under the custody of the vessel and will be released only after payment of the penalty. Furthermore, he said that the BoC will take custody of the remaining 7,000 sacks of smuggled rice. (MindaNews)

IBAGAT, Agusan del Sur - The Sustainable Livelihood Program ( SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga marks again another milestone as is opens the first - ever Marketing Center, the Sibagat SKA Federation General Merchandise located at Brgy. Poblacion Sibagat, Agusan del Sur. " The Sibagat SKA Federation General Merchandise Project serves as a paradigm of a collaborative effort of converging both government and program participants' resources for viable projects," Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli revealed. The project is a product of aligned thrusts and priorities of the Local Government Unit (LGU) and the DSWD. The LGU, aiming to contribute to poverty reduction as its primary and devolved function has donated a parcel of land amounting to P1.5M for the construction of the project. Part of labor , some construction materials and other logistical needs
before, during and after the construction and projects completion amounting to P 1,130,851.97 were also shouldered by the LGU. The merchandise, with the sum of P600, 000.00 was provided by the SLP. Portion of labor cost was charged against the ( Cash for Building Livelihood Assets) CBLA for funds at the cost of P235, 170, 000 of the DSWD. The CBLA is a communication mobilization strategy in developing physical and natural assets to increase the livelihood gains in the locality and also engage the participants in short-term income generating activities to help them meet their daily needs. Majority of the construction materials, labor and including the goods to be sold in the merchandise were sourced out from the capital seed fund received from the Self- Employment Assistance sa Kaunlaran (SEA -K) . "This general Merchandise is the first in the history of SEA – K in Caraga region
and in the Philippines," Roy Serdena, Regional Project Coordinator said. SLP has evolved from mere capital assistance of SEA – K for business enterprise to a capacity – building program with greater impacts through provision of comprehensive interventions to program participants by way of micro – enterprise development and employment generation. I took 20-minute power naps twice in waiting sheds when I felt drowsy and tired. When I reached Montevista at 4:30 p.m. there were five Robobam bikers waiting for me. They told me they will accompany me as far as Compostela so that they can go back home before dark. I was expecting to bike alone in the dark but they decided to continue biking with me up to New Bataan. We reached the parish rectory at 7:30 p.m. after eating at a carenderia. I was welcomed by Fr Roy. Day 10, Dec. 19: New Bataan, Compostela to Davao City (118 km) At 4 a.m., I concelebrated and preached in New Bataan- one of the places devastated by supertyphoon Pablo two years ago. At 6:15 a.m. I continued my bikejourney. When I reached Montevista I was accompanied by Tatang but he was bumped by a motorbike after passing Nabunturan. I was accompanied later by military officers who went as far as Madaum, Tagum where another biker was waiting for me. I had a flat tire near Carmen so we were delayed. In Bunawan, several bikers were waiting for us and another group from the Redemptorist parish joined us in Panacan. We finally reached the Redemptor-

Mandangan Darimbang, of LTFRB-10, said all bus operators in the region signed to adhere to its issuance for designated loading and unloading areas with police personnel to frisk passengers and inspect cargo, to tag bags like in airports, and to train personnel for anti-crime capabilities. A family member of one of those who died suggested that RTMI should minimize overloading its buses with many standing passengers. Lentorio said they will try to control it but oftentimes, it is the passengers who insist. Most of the families of the victims who spoke in the forum cited RTMI’s prompt response to their burial and hospitalization needs although some decried that the bus company should really be honest on the extortion issue. Jaime Valiente, a businessman and father of Kim Lloyd Valiente, a student of CMU, who was among the 10 killed in the bombing, said RTMI should have really reported the extortion threat to police. “Extortion is not only a concern of the company, it is the concern of the community,” he added. NorMin TF intensifies anew campaign vs illegal firecrackers

AGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Regional Task Force on Illegal Firecrackers (RTFIF) of Region 10, during its meeting on December 16, intensified its drive against illegal firecrackers this Yuletide season. Atty. Rene K. Burdeos, regional director, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), region 10, echoed the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 s. of 2014 issued of December 4, 2014 to enjoin coordinative efforts between DILG, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Health, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Finance, Bureau of Customs and Local Government Units, on the regulation of the
sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers, polyvinyl pipe “boga” and other pyrotechnic devices, and the adoption of advocacy campaigns and preventive measures from firecracker and firework injuries or death and damage to properties, during Christmas and New Year’s celebration. This circular is in furtherance of public safety, order and national security, pursuant to Republic Act No. 7183 or An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices, and the promotion of health and safety and general welfare of the people, in accordance with Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991, said

He reminded all concerned to strictly enforce existing laws prohibiting the sale of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices that may cause injuries or death during the celebration of the Yuletide season. The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are directed to conduct “intensified joint inspections” of manufacturing sites and warehouses to avoid disaster in stockpiling of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices. Provincial governors, city and municipal mayors and barangay captains are likewise reminded of their roles and responsibilities under Republic Act 7183 or An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Use of
Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices in accordance with Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160. RA 7183 limits the manufacture, distribution, sale and use to a limited number of firecrackers and pyrotechnics to promote public health and safety. For firecrackers, accredited manufacturers with appropriate business permits and licenses are allowed to produce “baby rockets,” “bawang,” “small trianggulo,” “pulling of strings,” “paper caps,” “el diablo,” “Judah’s belt,” “sky rocket or kwitis,” and other types with limited explosive contents. For pyrotechnics, those allowed are “mabuhay,” “Roman candle,” “trompillo,” “whistle device,” “butterfly,” “foundation,” “jumbo regular,” “luces,” “sparklers,” all kinds of pyrotechnic “pailaw.” Burdeos reiterated the local officials are to coordinate with the PNP and BFP to prevent the manufacture, distribution, sale and use
of “deadly” firecrackers and pyrotechnics and devices that lead to tragic deaths, injuries or cause destructive fires particularly during the Christmas and New Year revelries. Under the law, certain firecrackers and pyrotechnics including “atomic big,” “trianggulo,” “super lolo,” “giant whistle bomb” and other types of firecracker with more than 0.2 grams or more 1/3 teaspoon of explosives, firecrackers which are oversized, firecrackers which fuse burns in less than 3 seconds or more than 6 seconds are prohibited. The order specifically mentioned the danger of using improvised guns, particularly “boga” made of polyvinyl chloride pipe which became popular among Christmas and New Year revellers. Further, Burdeos reiterated to the Provincial Government, through the Governor, to order the city and municipal local government units (LGUs) to
take the lead in conducting information campaign against the use of deadly firecrackers within their respective areas of jurisdiction. He said the local officials are advised to convene their respective Peace and Order Councils and approve measures ensuring the safety of their constituents, including the designation of “manufacturing zone”, “display center” or “firecracker and pyrotechnic zones”, and “fireworks exhibition zone.” The manufac tur ing zone, under section 7 of RA 7183, should be 300 meters away from the nearest residential area, while display centers should be separated from each other with firewall and fire-prevention equipment such as fire extinguisher put in place. Smoking, testing of firecrackers and pyrotechnics, and anything that could trigger fire should be kept away from these zones. (EOR/PIA)
MANILA -- APEC Senior Officials identified “Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities” as a key priority area for APEC 2015 at the APEC Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting held on December 8-9, 2014 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Sustainability and resilience, particularly disaster preparedness and management, took center stage as Typhoon Yolanda/Hagupit hit the central Philippines including Legazpi City, Albay where the ISOM was originally set to be held. To ensure the safety of all delegates and to afford the local government to focus on the preparations for the typhoon, the Philippine government deemed it best to transfer the ISOM to Manila. Seen as a testament to the resilience and preparedness of the host economy, the ISOM further introduced discussions on particular initiatives and work programs to implement the APEC 2015 priority of “Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities”. “The Asia-Pacific region has disproportionately ac-
counted for the incidence of and damage from natural disasters globally,” said Ambassador Antonio Basilio, Executive Director of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). “Because it is also home to the most complex and dense supply chains, the impact of disasters when they happen are multiplied and take a long time to restore.” APEC economies must be equipped and knowledgeable of how to best prepare for and respond to disaster - from typhoons and earthquakes to health pandemics and food scarcity. The Symposium on December 08 emphasized promoting the resiliency of infrastructure at the every level beginning at the local and grassroots level. To this end, notable experts from international organizations and the academe gave suggestions including preparing business continuity plans, ensuring greater visibility in supply chains, as well as creating redundancies such as duplicating production bases. At the regional level, measures such as generating information on hazard risks
through scientific research, facilitating contingency measures to ensure business continuity, enabling the “creative reconstruction” of affected regions, building resilient infrastructure, and insuring for economic losses were advanced. The meeting also focused on food security and the marine economy as these issues intimately affect the food supply and sustainability of communities, especially coastal communities. Experts highlighted enhancing regional cooperation in protecting the marine environment and ensuring sustainable livelihood for fishing communities. APEC 2015 will advance these initiatives and boost cooperation in promoting sustainability and resilience through the Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG) and Policy Partnership on Food Security (PPFS). The Philippines is also set to host the Senior Disaster Management Officials’ Forum (SDMOF), and the High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and the Blue Economy (HLPD-FSBE) next year. (DFA)

The problem is not the opportunity; the question that should be answered is “Are you ready for the opportunity?” I would like to share with you some tips on how you can take advantage of an opportunity
KNOW HOW AN OPPORTUNITY LOOKS LIKE Many want the opportunity but they do not even know how an opportunity looks like. What if I ask you right now to look for something inside your room? I will just give you 5 seconds to do it. The time starts now! Please look for something, 5, 4,3,2,1. Time’s up! Did you find anything? Well, even if you are busy looking for that something but if you do not know how that something looks like, you will not even recognize it. Just like an opportunity; even if the opportunity is right in front of you, you won’t even recognize it. The first rule in seeking an OPPORTUNITY is to know how it looks like. PREPARE FOR THE OPPORTUNITY Even if the right opportunity comes, but if you are the wrong person, it is not still not considered as an opportunity. Opportunity comes to those who are prepared. You work hard every day. Try to learn many things even if it is not part of your job description. Improve your craft and skills. Learn more than others and be like a sponge. Never be ashamed to ask questions when you don’t know what to do. Find yourself a mentor who can teach you his ways, so that you can learn faster and better. GRAB THE OPPORTUNITY When the opportunity comes, we just need to grab it.
If you don’t grab it, somebody else will. Just like the old saying “Opportunity waits for no one”. The bus won’t wait if you are not willing to get in. You just have to ride on it once it comes. Just like riding a bull in a rodeo match. Never be afraid to take the bull by the horns. Even though you know that there is a possibility that you will get hurt, cut or injured. The price is too big to resist. This is your ticket to fame and glory. You just got to take risk. No one has ever achieved something big in life without taking risk. Those people who win in life are people who are brave enough to face their fears. For they know nothing will be achieved if they do not face their fears. NEVER LET IT GO! This opportunity may only come once in your lifetime, so make sure you do not let go. You hold on to the bull by its horn. No matter how tiring or how much pain you may experience, just never let go. Even though how difficult or challenging the situation maybe, you just got to be confident that you are going to overcome. You should see that you will come out as a winner not a loser. Your attitude towards the challenge is the one that is going to dictate the outcome. If you believe you can do it, you are going to come out as a winner but if you believe you can’t, you are also right. Just believe! Control what you can control and let go of what you can’t control. CEB launches mobile check-in option in time for holiday peak
T
he Philippines' leading airline, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) rolls out its mobile check-in option, just in time for the holidays. Mobile check-in joins web check-in, self checkin kiosks at the airport, and Agent Xpress (roving airport agents equipped with tablets) as alternate forms of checkin for CEB flights.
"With the peak travel season upon us, CEB introduces more check-in options, so guests will be empowered to manage their trips. With check-in counter space limitations in airports such as Manila or Kalibo, we encourage more guests to check-in online to avoid the line," said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.
Its official Cebu Pacific mobile app is now available on the App Store, so guests can check-in using their mobile devices and book their flights on the go. While initially available for iOS devices, CEB is scheduled to roll out a version for Android devices soon. Mobile check-in is available from 72 hours up to four hours for international flights, and up to two hours for domestic flights. Seats will automatically be assigned for those with no pre-purchased seat assignments. Boarding passes can be emailed, saved as an image, sent as an MMS or printed straight from the iPhone. Guests can do mobile check-in for up to 14 passengers. It will be initially available for those with web or mobile bookings only. The mobile check-in service is not available for guests with infants, interline or check-through flights, or those requiring special handling, as they have to go through the usual check-in process. Those who also wish to book flights can do so using the Cebu Pacific mo-
bile app. CEB and Tigerair Philippines flights, prepaid baggage allowance and seat selection may be booked for up to 14 guests. Only credit cards are accepted for mobile app flight bookings. "We also remind guests to be at the airport at least three hours before their flights, and prepare for possible high volume of traffic during this time," Iyog added.
