Caraga Wage Board launches newest Productivity programs By PAT SAMONTE Caraga Regional Editor

BUTUAN CITY – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Caraga launched its Productivity, Innovation and Enterprise Development program last September 22, 2016 at Alberto’s Bed and Dine at T. Calo Street here. The program is the newest among the Regional Wage Board’s productivity tools for private stakeholders in Region 13. It targets MSMEs to further improve competitiveness and to sustain viability through productivity improvement. Under the program, three specific training workshops were simultaneously con-

ducted. These were Lean Manufacturing, Retail and Service and Innovation. Lean Manufacturing focuses on reduction or elimination of wastes without sacrificing the quality and quantity of products. Retail and Service provides an in-depth orientation on the fundamentals of the Retail and Service sector. Innovation provides MSMEs basic innovation skills that will enable establishments to create new and value-adding ideas to innovate products or services for enterprise sustainability and competitiveness. SMIC’s proposed bond issue assigned ‘PRS Aaa’ rating SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) announced that the Philippine Rating Services Corporation (PhilRatings) assigned a rating of PRS Aaa to SMIC’s proposed bond issue of P15.0 Billion, with an oversubscription option of P5 billion, for a maximum aggregate amount of P20 billion. Corazon P. Guidote, senior vice president for investor relations, SMIC, said the bonds are part of the shelf offering of up to P50 billion in bonds that SMIC plans to undertake in the next three years. The rating for SMIC’s outstanding bonds amounting to P27.3 billion was, likewise, maintained at PRS Aaa, Guidote said.

PhilRatings assigned a Stable outlook for the ratings for the proposed and outstanding bonds. PRS Aaa is the highest rating assigned by PhilRatings, denoting that such obligations are of the highest quality with minimal credit risk and that the issuing company’s capacity to meet its financial commitment on the obligations is extremely strong, she said. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- To drum up the farm mechanization assistance of the agency, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DARFO 10) through the Corn Program recently turned over about P4.2 million worth of farm machineries and equipment to the provincial government unit of Misamis Oriental (PLGU-MisOr), in a simple ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds. A total of two units farm tractor worth P1,810,000 per unit and two units silage chopper for P292,000 per unit were formally handed over to the province. The PLGU-MisOr counter parted 10 percent of the farm tractors’ total project cost and the rest was shouldered by the DA-RF0 10, while the units of silage chopper were given to the province as full grant from the aggie dept. BUTUAN CITY – After thorough deliberation, the Regional Projects Advisory Board (RPAB) of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in Caraga Region recently approved and endorsed for funding P102-million worth of sub-

projects (SPs) from different proponent groups. Nineteen (19) of the SPs totaling P80 million are under the Enterprise Development portfolio aimed at increasing farmers’ individual income and benefit the various associations and cooperatives. These include project proposals on Geonet

Production and Marketing, Rice Production and Trading, Seaweeds Production and Marketing, Cardava Production and Marketing, Banana Consolidation and Marketing, Bangus Production and Marketing, and Abaca Production and Marketing. During the deliberation,
