Group asks Senate, House for increase on President’s salary By CHENG ORDOÑEZ Associate Editor
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – For all the hard work he is doing in running the country and for advocating the wage increase of government workers, a civil society group thinks President Rodrigo Duterte himself deserves a raise in his monthly salary. Currently, the President is receiving P120,000 a month, but the Crusade for Clean Government (CCG), a newly-launched organization with nationwide membership, wants Duterte’s salary increase by as much as P500,000 to even P1 million monthly. In a statement, CCG, a group composed mostly of individuals who are supportive of the Duterte’s presidency, said it has urged Congress to raise the chief executive’s wage. “The proposed salary increase would give justice to the highest position of the land considering the magnitude of the President’s herculean task of managing the bureaucracy,” CCG convenor Ruffy Magbanua said.
