2 cops figure in Tagoloan heist, 1 killed, 1 wounded in shootout By CRIS DIAZ Executive Editor
CAGAYAN de Oro City– –A cop was killed while his brother, also a cop, was wounded in a shootout after a busted heist in the outskirt town of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental Sunday.
Sr. Supt. Sukarno Alvarez, the Misamis Oriental police provincial director, identified the slain cop as PO1 Nirivan Tanyajura, 24, assigned at the Gingoog Police Station in Misamis Oriental. Wounded was the elder brother PO1 Whylder Taña-
jura, 27, who was reportedly undergoing a training as a Scout Ranger at the Regional Police Service Battalion in Northern Mindanao at the time of the incident, Sukarno said Monday. Initial investigation disclosed that the brothers held up NSM Mini Mart, a
mini grocery store, inside the new Public Market in Tagolo-an, Misamis Oriental Sunday afternoon. It was when the brothers started to flee out of the mini store that gun fires were reportedly heard fatally hitting the young Tañajura twice in the chest, the police
investigators said. Hit on the back, the elder Tañajura reportedly tried to fire back, but his service revolver reportedly jammed, the police said. The police said that wounded police-robberysuspect was taken to the hospital, but was immedi-
ately detained at the Tagoloan police station after treatment. Police are still conducting a probe on who fired at the retreating robbery suspect cops because the owner of the mini store denied having a gun. See cops, page A2
