Meningo kills 3 kids in Oro By GERRY LEE GORIT Correspondent
CAGAYAN de Oro City-Three children had succumbed to a bacterial infection caused by Meningococcemia in Northern Mindanao in a span of a few days, health authorities said Tuesday. One of the fatalities was Jhasmine Villagracia, a grade one pupil at Bayabas Elementary School, who was buried less than 24 hours after she died last week. Rubino Tangag, Villagracia’s uncle, said the child was brought to the government-run Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) last Thursday. She died the following day. What is Meningo? Meningococcemia is an infection caused by the Neisseria meningitidis bacteria. This is the same type of bacteria that can cause meningitis.
