PLDT, Smart provide ‘Text Bato’ hotline LEADING Telecom and digital services provider PLDT and its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications are providing a text platform and internet connectivity, allowing citizenry direct access to the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

This is made possible through the PNP’s ‘Text Bato’ hotline service, a 24/7 hotline project of the Community Relations Group of the PNP that allows ordinary citizens to report crime incidents and law enforcement concerns directly to PNP chief Director General Ronald Bato dela Rosa, Smart announced in a news release, recently.

Smart subscribers can text relevant police concerns by typing BATO (space) their message then sending to 7444-2286, according to Smart.

The “Text Bato” message syntax for Smart subscribers is BATO (space) mes-

sage then send to 74442286<tel:7444-2286>. A P1 fee applies for every SMS, Smart said.

Once these reports reach the hotline, the Text Bato platform will shoot a confirmation to the sender with ‘PNPBATO’ as the unique sender name. The PNP will then verify these reports to determine the appropriate course of action.

Saudi ensures safety of Hajj pilgrims; Malacanang declares Sept. 12 holiday SAUDI Interior Ministr y announced on Friday the launch of the security plan for this Hajj season, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The Interior Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Mansoor Al Turki said in the first press conference for t his season that the police forces are dedicated to protect the safety of pilgrims.

He highlighted that 237,583 illegal pilgrims were banned from entering holy sites, while another 104,784 were also denied access for lacking licenses to enter Mecca for the season.

The conference revealed that the security plan includes reviewing the movements of pilgrims and the traffic, as well as organizational plans.

DAVAO CITY -- President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed confidence that he was able to push for the country’s and the Filipino people’s national interests during the two-day Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and dialogues with regional partners.

“Hindi kayo napahiya (I did not let you down),” the President assured the people at a press briefing following his speech upon

his arrival at the Davao International Airport at past 1 a.m Saturday.

The President said he was able to highlight the country’s objective of pursuing an independent foreign policy.

“I repeat, the Philippines will pursue an independent foreign policy.

We will observe and must insist on the time honored principles of sovereignty, sovereign equality, noninterference and in commitment of peaceful settlement of disputes that best serve

our people, protecting the interests of our country,” he stressed.

While he declined to assess his first foreign trip as it would be self-serving, Duterte said, “I say, a posture of confidence that I was able to deliver what we are obligated to.”

Duterte said he is happy that he was able to do it during his first state visit.

Understanding the World Skill Generally, the word skill pertains to the capability or ability to do something well or with expertise. It can also point to a person’s particular gift, ability, talent, or strength.

2. Analytical Thinking Skills – Students need to know how to think analytically. This means developing their skill in efficiently evaluating, comparing & contrasting, and classifying with very minimal supervision. Once they become good analytical thinkers, they will be able to face real world problems practically and then come up with solutions and decisions that will make a positive impact on their lives. Critical and analytical thinking will also help students better dissect real world situations.

3. Creative Skills – Students need to be trained so they can explore, develop, and share their creative skills. When they are encouraged to become creative in their work, this spreads to all aspects of their learning.

Therefore, when their visual creativity is developed through painting or any form of visual art, their ability to express themselves is greatly improved.

By allowing students to explore their creativity, teachers allow them to discover what they are capable of doing. This is an asset that can help them survive some real world battles later on in their lives.

4. The ability to harmoniously work and collaborate with others is another skill that students need to develop.

Building relationships and connections is important for one to survive, not just in the social media scene, but in the real world as well. When they’re ready to spread their wings, students will learn that establishing good connections and developing healthy work relationships with others will greatly help them succeed.

No matter what stories you may have heard, absolutely no one can survive the real world alone. He or she will need at least one companion to make it through life.

5. Last but definitely not the least, communication skills.

Students need to learn, understand, and value the importance of proper communication. It is not enough that they know how to text or leave a message on Facebook. It is important for them to learn how to personally interact with the people in their circles or communities.

Without proper communication, skill number 1 to 4 will not be successfully developed.

Along with this 21st century skills, students need to also learn how to develop their soft skills. The three most important ones are: strong work ethic, positive attitude, and trust or dependability.

As teachers, it is our responsibility – and mission – to think of interesting, enticing ways to help students discover, develop, and nurture these skills.

Five Study Habits for Students

Nowadays, studying has become quite difficult. With all the technology surrounding us, this is understandable. Instead of students spending their free time studying or reading class notes and books, they spend it playing on their gadgets or visiting Internet cafes.

While several choose to spend their free time at home, what they normally do is sit in front of the TV or computer instead of open their books or notes.

This is why most of today’s students do not know the value of studying.

For the record, studying does not just mean opening your notebooks and books and memorizing whatever the teacher taught you in class. More than anything else, studying means understanding all the new things that you learned.

Additionally, studying does not need to take up all of your free time. One or two hours of studying every school day is enough.

The key is smart studying.

As a teacher, one of my obligations is to assist my students in becoming more effective learners. Thus, it is my goal to see that each one

of them is able to cross the bridge and practice proper study habits. As such, here are five useful tips for students to follow: 1. The first thing you need to do is learn how to manage your time wisely. Be mindful of your schedule in and out of school. If you are in high school, your schedule is more or less fixed. You know when classes begin and end. Therefore, it is easier to point out your free time. College students have different schedules, which depend on the number of classes or subjects one has in a semester. The lesser the classes, the more free time. Nevertheless, study time usually doubles in college because the subjects are more difficult than in high school.

2. Learn how to organize.

Once you have your schedule identified and listed, it’s time to get into action.

First off, though, you need to organize your “things to do” or “what to study”. Find a clean notebook, journal, or planner where you can write down your assignments/projects and their due dates. This will help you make sure you complete and submit them on time. Also include in your

4. Begin studying by tackling the subject that’s most difficult for you. If you find math or science deeply confusing and difficult, put them on top of your subjects list. Study them first before proceeding to the easier ones. Studying the most difficult subjects first will help make your study sessions more effective.

5. Remove all distractions when studying. Although I know of some college students who can effectively study late at night with the TV on, this is not really the normal practice. Distractions, however, depend on the person. Turning on the TV when you’re studying can be a distraction, but your brother or sister talking in a loud voice can be one, too.

When you’re distracted by even the slightest of noise, the tendency is for you to lose your concentration and for your train of thoughts to be cut. The best thing to do is to find a place in your house or bedroom that’s conducive for studying.

In addition to these five study tips, you can also try, from time-to-time, joining study groups. Just make sure that these study groups are actually for studying and not just a front for other activi-

NOTICE OF DELINQUENCY IN THE PAYMENT OF REAL PROPERTY TAX IN THE CITY OF GINGOOG

NOTICE of hereby served pursuant to the provision of Section 254, Republic Act No. 7160 (The Local Government Code of 1991 )real property tax due for Calendar Year 2016 and previous years, has become delinquent with respect to the following:

Under the code, upon the real property tax or installment thereof becoming delinquent, the udersigned is charged to enforce collection of delinquent taxes (and previous years) and for this purpose empowered to resort to any of the following remedies to satisfy taxes, penlaties and cost: 1. Seizure of personal property of the taxpayer and sale thereof at public auction; 2. File civil suit with the proper court;

3. Levy on real property and sale of delinquent property or a usable portion thereof at public auction.

However, if at any time before any of the above stated remedies is instituted, paymnet of the delinquent tax or installment thereof and the corresponding penalty hereunder provide is made, it shall free the taxpayer of his property from liability to such auction.

Penalty for delinquency; Failure to pay the real property tax during the period of payment without penalty of the quarterly installment thereof shall subject the taxpayer to the payment of interest at the rate of two percent (2%) per month or a fraction thereof.

Further, unless the tax surcharges and penalties are paid before the expiration of the year for which the taxes due except when the notice of assessment or special levy is contested administratively or judicially pursuant to the provisions of Sec. 226 of RA 7160, delinquent real property will be sold at public auction, and the title of the property will be vested in the purchaser, subject, however, to the right of the delinquent owner of the property or any person having legal interest therein to redeem the property within one (1) year from date of sale.

DELINQUENT TAXPAYERS are, therefore, requested to pay their delinquent tax or installment thereof to forestall filing of judicial action against the delinquent realty owners and/or the inclusion of the property in the list of delinquent properties to be sold at public auction.

THIS NOTICE is given for the purpose of filing civil suit with the delinquent taxpayer with the proper court and/or sale of delinquent real properties at public auction.

I. Title: Implementation of Song, Dance and Sports (SODASPO) Program in Tangub City Central School II. Rationale: Tangub City Central School (TCCS) is one of the basic education instritutions in the Division of Tangub City that holds the overwhelming number of potential pupils that possesses variety of talents and skills in singing, dancing, sports and the like. These talents and skills are indeed necessary to be honed not only to place the school within the radar but more importantly to help the students develop self-concept that enable them to achieve their dreams and aspirations in life.

However, the enhancement of students’ talents and skills in these facets has not been given much attention. In fact, the school has not yet discovered and recognized students with exemplary talents and skill in the said fields which can be considered as one of the primary reasons why the school has been inconsistent in bagging awards in most of the relevant competitions attended.

Hence, recognizing and discovering the students’ talents and skills play a vital role in attaining the goals and objectives of the school in the said fields.

This observed problem leads the researcher to implement a program that will maximize the potentials of the students and help them to develop and enhance their talents and skills required for optimum outcomes. By the end of this study, the researcher will provide recommendations that will aid to improve the skills of the discovered potential students of Tangub City Central School.

III. Objectives: 1. Identify potential pupils particularly in singing, dancing and in sports 2. Enhance the talents and skills of the identified pupils 3. Hone the confidence of the potentials 4. Police, Globe Telecom security team nab 7 broadband fraudsters

V. Targets Venue: Tangub City Central School Participants: Teachers and Pupils Date: June to February 2015-2016

Globe Telecom’s intensified campaign against fraudsters led to the arrest of 7 fraudsters involved in the illegal sale of the company’s LTE modems.

The campaign is intended to protect its customers from illegal activities involving its products and services.

“We strongly discourage our customers from purchasing internet connectivity devices from unauthorized dealers and instead entertain offers of various Globe products and services only from legitimate agents,” said Ronald Uychutin, Globe Vice President for Security and Anti-Fraud and Investigation Division. He added that Globe will continue to coordinate closely with police authorities in pursuing its campaign against fraudsters.

A series of entrapment operations jointed conducted by police and a Globe security team resulted in the arrest of 7 suspects involved in the illegal sale of Globe modems. Arrested were David King Esguerra, 33 years old, a resident of No. 79 Guimba, Nueva Ecija; John John Mamuyac, 28 years old, a resident of 19-C Camilo Osias St., Brgy.

Voucher system for senior high school

THE voucher program is intended for Grade 10 (junior high school) completers who wish to pursue senior high education in private schools, community colleges, state universities and colleges and tech-voc insttutions.

Through the voucher program, students and their parents/guardians are able to exercise greater choice in deciding the senior high school program that is most relevant to their needs and career goals.

The voucher enables students to claim a discount or a deduction from the cost of tuition and other fees charged by private schools where they enroll.

The voucher subsidy is not given to students directly in the form of cash but will be disbursed by DepEd to the private school directly.

Public Grade 10 completers are automatically qualified voucher recipients.

The actual amount of the vouchers will depend on the location of the senior high school. Voucher recipients who will enroll in

a private school that is not in a highly urbanized city will receive a full voucher amount of P17,500.

The senior high school voucher was conceptualized to align the cost of public provision or how much it would cost government to support the schooling of a public senior high school student.

This means that whether a student decides to enroll in a public school or a private school, the government’s investment in his or her education is the same.

The entrapment operations conducted against the suspects were based on a list of online sellers of Globe LTE modems, either through OLX.com.ph or Facebook. With police personnel posing as online buyers, suspects agreed to meet them which led to their eventual arrests.

The suspects are believed to be engaged in a modus operandi that involves retrieval of LTE modems from legitimate customers on pretext of an upgrade or repair. The modems are then reconfigured and sold at a one-time cost payment in popular social online buy-and-sell sites such as OLX and even networking sites such as Facebook.

Police recovered from the suspects numerous Globe LTE modems. Uychutin emphasized the company will continue to work closely with police authorities in pursuing fraudsters.

Fashion Philippines launch attracts French, global buyers PARIS, FRANCE – The Industry Promotion Group through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) in cooperation with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Paris (PTIC-Paris) launched FASHION PHILIPPINES, a select collection of ten fashion accessories brands from top-notch Filipino designers at the Hall 7 of the Maison & Objet PARIS, the largest international gathering of interior and lifestyle products and services in France which runs on September 2-6 at the French capital.

“The Maison & Objet was selected as the venue to launch Fashion Philippines in France this year because it was just fitting to unveil the country’s best collection of fashion accessories lines to a truly global venue,” according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary for Industry Promotion Group, Nora K. Terrado, whose teams from CITEM and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center – Paris (PTIC), attended to and handled the launch.

The ten designers who showcased their products to the thousands of attendees at the Maison & Objet were Michelline Syjuco, Mele + Marie, Kit Silver, Beatriz, Mia Arcenas, Ann Ong, Larone, Zai Design Hive, Carmaela, Floreia.

“Designers featured in Fashion Philippines were chosen because of their exemplary creative pieces, their capacity to cater to an international clientele, and the overwhelming response they received from the biannual Manila FAME events organized by CITEM,” said CITEM Executive Director Rosvi Gaetos.

Among those who graced the Paris launch of Fashion Philippines were Philippine Ambassador to France Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, Consul General Aileen MendiolaRau, noted designer Mr. Budji Layug, Philippine design icon Mr. Kenneth Cobonpue who also had his own booth at the Maison & Objet, design luminaries from France and across the globe, agents and buyers, members of the media, and other guests.

PTIC-Paris Director and Commercial Attache Froilan Pamintuan noted the interest generated by the local materials used by the Filipino designers, including

“the recycled technology employed by one of our designers which was even featured by the French media.

CITEM’s Head for the Buyer Marketing and Services Team Katrina Pineda also observed the attention gained by the Filipino fashion accessories designers whose products help provide livelihood to local communities in the Philippines. “The initial foray of Fashion Philippines at the Maison & Objet has been very encouraging. Our designers are looking forward to forging alliances initially gained from the launch, and are committed to sustain their presence and entrench their brands in Paris - the reputed fashion and design capital of Europe and the rest of the world,” said Pineda.

Some French designers also mentioned that they could help in the training, development or even in providing a venue in Paris for these fashion accessories designers from the Philippines.

Coming from a successful fresh start last April 16 in San Mateo, Rizal and June 17 in Iloilo City, the third leg of Trail Masters 2016 is aimed to be as exciting as the first two installments, according to race director Dennis Yap of Transition Productions.

Race participants are expected to tackle the rugged uphill terrain in Upper Macasandig and Indahag, kicking off at the

scenic High Ridge Restaurant for a total of 39 kilometers of duathlon adventure.

Gun start for the initial 6k run will commence at 6:00 a.m. on that Sunday with the runners negotiating downhill

from High Ridge, exiting right into Mandumol Road and going on to an uphill run at Diversion Road before going back to High Ridge.

From High Ridge, they will transition to biking, exit at the
