Smart alerts subscribers about latest text scams SCAMMERS are becoming more and more creative in their attempts to trick people into parting with their hard-earned money or prepaid load credits. With crime rate expected to rise in the “ber” months leading to Christmas, Smart Communications is cautioning subscribers about the latest modus operandi, so they can better protect themselves from these unscrupulous individuals. Here is an example of a text message from a scammer: Scam #1: “Pakibalik po yung load.” In this modus, you will receive an officialsounding text message from an 11-digit number, saying that a certain amount of load has been transferred to your account. It will even have a reference number to make you think this is a legitimate PasaLoad transaction. Example: P200 has been transferred from 09181234567 to 09181111111. Ref: 290487704344 The scammer will then send you another text message claiming that they have mistakenly sent you load, and asking you to return it. Example: Ate/Kuya, nagkamali po ako. Sa inyo ko po naipasa yung load na para po sana sa aking Nanay. Baka puwedeng pakibalik na lang po ito. (I made a mistake. BUREAU of Fishery and Aquatic and Natural Resources-10 kicks-off the 53rd #FishConservation Week on October 16 with a motorcade to intensify awareness on the I sent the load to you when it was meant pressing need to conserve and protect the country’s fisheries and aquatic resources. DA-Caraga leads crafting of Agri-Commodity roadmaps By EMMYLOU T. PRESILDA
A holistic approach to providing interventions is key to sustainable agricultural development. With this, the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Caraga has started a series of workshops
from October 11-November 4, 2016 to craft the industry roadmaps of the different agricultural commodities in the region. This is part of the effort of the present administration not only to provide available and affordable food for all but ensure its sustainability.
Regional Executive Director Renato Manantan emphasized the need to come up with roadmaps that will serve as basis in the planning of agricultural interventions. “We have to create these roadmaps so that actions and requested allocations will suit and support
the needs of the industry. Together with agencies involved in rural development, the roadmap will set the direction in planning and budgeting for the succeeding years,” Manantan said. DA-Caraga is optimistic that the roadmap will benefit farm-
ers, business sector, and local government units as this will identify without constraints and strategies that would strengthen and propel the sectors in agriculture.; This will also guide the local chief executives in See leads, page B3
