Juvenile justice ensured for children at risk By Recthie T. Paculba
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee-10 (RJJWC) is set to present its resolution on forging commitments of the local government units (LGUs) of Claveria, Misamis Oriental and its Poblacion Barangay, and other stakeholders who expressed their willingness to extend help or support to children at risk (CAR) and children in conflict with the law (CICL). During the committee’s third quarter meeting on October 14, the RJJWC agreed to ensure the effective implementation of Republic Act (RA) 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 as amended by RA 10630,
at the regional and local government levels as well as the coordination of its members. Hence, all the concerned local government units are mandated to have a Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLIP) developed in accordance with RA 9344 as amended. Furthermore, the establishment of Bahay Pag-Asa located in Sitio Patpat, Barangay Poblacion, Claveria town, Misamis Oriental is a manifestation of such mandate. It is managed and operated by the provincial government of Misamis Oriental, and established through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the JJWC and the provincial government of Misamis Oriental. Also, in the recent monitoring visit
conducted by the RJJWC-10, the local government of Claveria expressed its willingness to extend help in the provision of support services for the best interest and welfare of children in Bahay Pag-asa. The LGUs and stakeholders will then forge their commitments for the continuous effective and efficient operationalization of the Bahay Pag-asa. A Bahay Pag-asa is a 24-hour childcaring institution established, funded and managed by the LGUs and licensed and/or accredited by non-government organizations (NGOs) that are providing short-term residential care for CICLs, who are above 15 but below 18 years of age, and are awaiting court disposition of their cases or transfer to other agencies or jurisdiction.(RTP/PIA10)

Press Statement of Senator Bongbong Marcos on the SC extension of the SQA on the Marcos burial at LNMB We have been patient for 23 years, we can be patient for a few days more. Let us give our Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court the time they need to study this case. I am confident that they will ultimately agree to let my father be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani because it is in accordance with law. We would like to thank all those who took part in the march and those present today to express their support for our family. When I ran for office in the last elections, I ran under a platform of unity and this show of support for the burial of my father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani is a continuation of that campaign for unity. We also would like to thank again President Rodrigo Duterte for continuing to support this unifying and healing effort to bury my father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
PFA to conduct free franchising seminars this October Advocating entrepreneurship and job generation through franchising, the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) will conduct free four batches of “How to Invest in the Right Franchise” seminars in Cagayan de Oro City this October 21 and 22, 2016 at the Centrio Mall Activity Center. The seminars are coinciding with the Franchising Negosyo para sa Cagayan de Oro expo. “Franchising is the best way to introduce entrepreneurship to people. We often compare it to a turn-key business as franchisees are provided with the brand, systems and procedures to operate the business. They no longer have to think of and market another concept as they will be managing an already-established business,” said PFA President Alan Escalona. PFA, the pioneer and the only internationallyrecognized franchise association in the country,
also says franchising is a proven and effective way of expanding a business concept. “Compared to other business expansion plans, franchising helps you expand your business rapidly by letting others help you manage your business following your set of standards,” Escalona said. The How to Invest in the Right Franchise seminars scheduled at 2:30 to 3:30 PM and at 4:00 to 5:00 PM on Day 1 are exclusive to clients of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). So is the seminar scheduled at 1:30 to 2:30 PM on Day 2. PFA supports OWWA in their programs for returning OFWs by offering franchising as a viable investment option. Meanwhile, the seminar scheduled at 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM on day 2 is open to the public. On the other hand, PFA in collaboration with the Department of Trade See conduct, page B2
