IN VIEW of Proclamation No. 55 issued on September 4, 2016, declaring a state of national emergency on account of lawless violence, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin Provincial Officer is imposing a 60-day Price Freeze on basic necessities and prime commodities. Pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 7581, The Price Act, as amended, prices of basic necessities are automatically frozen at their prevailing prices or place under automatic price control. THE City Government of Davao warmly welcomed the 120 candidates of the Miss Earth beauty pageant who visited the city on Thursday. The city is the candidates’ home for a week. Gene Rose Tecson, chief of the City Tourism Operations Office, said the candidates will experience first-hand Davao’s slogan, “Life is here.” “This is an opportunity for them to experience our city and enjoy the things that we truly own and really take pride in,” she said. Tecson said the visit is definitely a tourism event. “It will also mean income generation for the city and would further

promote Davao as one of the prime investment and tourism destinations in the country,” she said. The candidates will tour the city and the nearby Island Garden City of Samal. In Lanao del Norte, Gov. Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo will lead the province’s officials in welcoming the cadidates on October 16, 2016, who will stay until the 17th in the province. University calls for submission on literary anthology CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Under the Southern Skies: Northern Mindanao Literary Anthology is now accepting works in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, scheduled for publication in December 2017. The anthology is open to both established and emerging writers (1) who live in Northern Mindanao, (2) who live elsewhere but grew up in Northern Mindanao, or (3) have spent a good period of time in Northern Mindanao enough to inspire memories and feelings.
