Release the hatred in your heart The Gospel of Jesus Christ (November9, 2016-Wednesday) Matthew 18:21-35” For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. “When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him: No one is perfect
except Mary and Jesus. Take note: To err is human but to forgive is divine. This is the reason behind why Jesus taught us to forgive any person committed mistakes toward us. Let us put in this way: if God counts your mistakes from the beginning, are you sure that you are worthy to be forgiven? The answer is probably not! But for God you deserve to be
forgiven because his love is greater than your trespasses. Seventy times seven: In Theology this is an endless forgiveness to be given to anyone because healing within begins in forgiving someone. The more hatred you possessed; the more wounds it creates in your heart. The looser is you if you do not know how to release
the hatred in your heart. You need to cleanse your heart because it is the dwelling place of God and it is very shameful to stain it with our evil feelings. Let love reigns in your heart. Let peace governs your heart because it is a manifestation that God lives within you. He is God of love and peace. Love anyone and be an advocate of a peaceful
The Role of a 21st Century Teacher of the learners so that it will be easier to facilitate learning. Teacher as learner and leader. Teacher continues to absorb experiences and knowledge. Change and learn as the horizons and landscape change. Teacher also leads by example with clear goals and objectives. Teacher as risk taker. He has willingness to learn how to cope with the changes. Example for this is the usage of technology; engaging students. Teacher as communicator. A 21st century teacher must be fluent in tools and technologies that enable communication and collaboration. He must go beyond learning just how to do it, he also knows how to facilitate it, stimulate and control it, moderate and manage it. Teacher therefore must know
how to manipulate digital technologies—relevant to teaching-learning process like LCD projector, laptop, and the like. Teachers must know how to access information efficiently (time) and effectively (sources) and be able to evaluate information critically and competently. Our 21st century students are using digital technologies and they enjoy using them. Teachers then can make use of this learners’ interest. Yet, we have to guide our students to filter information. With the advent of the internet, our students can access information on their own time. The scenario is no longer students come to school to access our knowledge, our lessons but with just a click they can have their online search. With this, our guidance is needed. Teacher as model. He sets himself as model of tolerance and acceptance
with global awareness and reflection. Teachers are versatile actors because we can portray different roles. We have to play all these to be able to produce 21st century learners. To portray these roles, a 21st century teacher should have the 5Cs—committed, creative, competent, compassionate and with character. We help mold the future leaders of our country. No matter how hard and challenging the life of the teacher is, I am always inspired with the words of Forest Witcraf that states “A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.”
he ensured the professional training of the country’s police force and structured it in such a way that it will not be beholden to political leaders such as mayors due to opportunities for abuse. His family remembers him as an honest person. He refused the appointment from former President Ferdinand Marcos to become
the head of the Customs Police due to then alleged entrenched corruption in the agency. As general, he fought hard against corruption within the military. His d au g hte r, B e r nard it as Muller, who negotiates multilateral environmental agreements and sustainable development in the UN, in-
cluding the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, remembered that his father abhorred all corruption in government and in the Armed Forces. “He was proud to say that he could look anybody straight in the eye, and that he slept very well at night because of this,” she said. He was a member of the Constitutional Commission organized by former President Corazon Aquino. “He told us that whenever the word “truth” appears in the Philippine Constitution, he was the one who added it there,” said Muller. G e ne r a l D e C ast ro had deep connections to Cagayan de Oro due to his sister, Natividad De Castro, who married Jose Gorra, and settled in the city. One of their children is Annie Gorra, author of the newly published novel, “The Mystery on 17th Street,” and a great-grand niece is Kerstin Gorra Vokinger, the first Kagay-anon to graduate with a master’s degree in law from Harvard University in Boston.

The K to 12 curriculum aims to develop learners holistically with the 21st century skills. To achieve this aim, the teachers plan and design activities, instructions and materials. The teachers play important roles in molding the learners with the 21st century skills. Teacher as adaptor. SUDOKU PLUS 3 Guided reading: An intervention to develop the reading level of the students By METCHIE D. COSCOS Teacher III Kalilangan Central School
GUIDING reading is an instructional approach that involves a teacher working with a small group of students who demonstrate similar reading behaviors and can all read similar levels of texts. The text is easy enough for students to read with your skillful support. The text offers challenges and opportunities for problem solving but is easy enough for students to read with some fluency. You as a teacher should be the one to choose selections that help students expand their strategies. You’ll be the one to select books that students can read with about 90
percent accuracy. Students can understand and enjoy the story because it’s accessible to them through their own strategies supported by your introduction. They focus on meaning but use problem-solving strategies to figure out words they don’t know, deal with difficult sentence structure and understand concepts or ideas that they have never before encountered in print. Guided reading gives students the chance to apply the strategies they already know to new text. You provide support but the ultimate goal is independent reading. Developing readers have already gained important readings about how print works.

Global Filipino School program reaches Aklan As many as 1,400 public elementary school students from New Washington, Aklan, can now experience what it is like to be a “Global Filipino School” with the recent unveiling of a new Internet-connected computer laboratory. Through the Global Filipino School (GFS) program, New Washington Elementary School was provided with 24 computers and 10 tablets, Internet connectivity, and other peripherals. Spearheaded by Globe Telecom and Ayala Foundation, GFS is a long-term educational initiative that seeks to transform select public schools into centers of excellence in information and communications technology (ICT) and innovative teaching methods. Aside from the computer equipment and laboratory, GFS also provides ICT-proficiency training for teachers, which can help them enhance not only the quality of instruction, but the overall classroom experience. The teacher-training component of the program is conducted by Ayala Foundation’s Training Institute program.
GFS in New Washington is also championed by the Municipal Government of New Washington and the Department of Education Division of Aklan. Present at the launch were representatives from Globe, Ayala Foundation, Department of Education, the Municipal Government, and the school. “Ayala Foundation has always believed in the critical role played by quality education in developing communities,” said Ruel Maranan, President of Ayala Foundation. “Through programs such as GFS, we hope to make an impact in the lives of the people in our program communities. We also hope that this will encourage them to contribute to improving the lives of the people living in their local community, their province, and ultimately the country.” “Globe has been a longtime advocate of education,” said Yoly Crisanto, SVP for Corporate Communications at Globe Telecom. “We want to give Filipinos, especially those who are underprivileged yet deserving, more access to education oppor-

Last Oct. 18, the high court extended for the second time the halt order until Nov. 8, according to SC spokesman Theodore Te. The High Court has consolidated the seven petitions filed by groups of martial law victims, led by former Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Satur Ocampo, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman and former Commission on Human Rights chair Etta Rosales, a group led by former Senator Heherson Alvarez, a group of University of the Philippines students, former Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao human rights chair Algamar Latiph, and Senator Leila De Lima. The petitioners argued that the planned burial of the late dictator was “illegal and contrary to law, public policy, morals and justice.” They claimed that allowing the burial of the former leader would violate Republic Act No. 289 (law regulating the Libingan ng mga Bayani) and R.A. 10368 (Human Rights Victims Reparation and Recognition

Immediately after the launch, GFS team held training sessions for a total of 50 teachers. The training covered ICT lab maintenance, on top of the Training Institute curriculum which focuses on
the following areas: classroom pedagogy, development of critical thinking skills, values clarification, and use of technology in the classroom. New Washington El-

On the contrary, Solicitor General Jose Calida invoked the President’s authority under the Constitution and Revised Administrative Code to decide on political question that does not involve any justifiable issue for the high court to resolve. During the oral arguments before the SC, the top government counsel argued that it is within the powers of the President to decide on whether to allow or not the burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the heroes cemetery. With this, Marcos expressed gratitude to the High Tribunal, noting that the latter has taken a magnanimous act to uphold the rule of law. “We are deeply grateful to the Supreme Court for its decision to allow the burial of my father, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. Once again, the Supreme Court has taken a magnanimous act to uphold the rule of law,” he said.
