God will help you in your miseries The Gospel of Jesus Christ (November29, 2016-Tuesday) Mark 10:28-31”Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in

this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life: Did you give up something for a better return? 2 Timothy 4:6-8”For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good “fight,” I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there

is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Can you die for God’s glory? Take note, martyrdom is the shortest way to heaven. Your attitude is tested if you will choose God or to deny him in times of pressures. You need to love him more than anything else. You need

to prioritize God because he will care everything for your favors. Matthew 6:33”But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Allow yourself to be in the hands of the living God. Do not give up your faith if you are tempted to do it because of the negative circumstances that you are in. The more you are cowards in facing it; the more you will

A Foundation for Lifelong Learning and Service for the Common Good By Eden Mae Gonzales - Puerto Camaman an Elementary School, Cagayan de Oro City

The Department of Education, states that its mission is: “to provide quality basic education that is equitably accessible to all - a foundation for lifelong learning and service for the common good.” The Department also stipulated its vision to “develop a highly competent, civic spirited, life-skilled, and God-loving Filipino youth who actively participate in and contribute towards the building of a humane, healthy and productive society.” All these ambitions were embodied in the 21st century development strategy. Although the Educa-

tion department had been swamped with so many issues it continues to find ways on how to cater to all the concerns, such as: lack of teachers, lack of facilities and books. Despite of these adversities met by the department, the system did not stop in achieving the ideals of, “Education for All.” The Camaman-an Elementary school as part of the system takes all the challenge without mental reservation. The teaching force works hand in hand to achieve positive results at the end of every school year. Aside from adopting the K12 new curriculum the

Camaman-an Elementary School also adopted the Two-shifts classes due to the increase of enrolment and lack of classrooms. Twoshifts classes are designed to accommodate all school children within community. The morning classes start at 6:30 and ends at 11:30am and the afternoon classes starts at 12:00noon and ends at 5:00pm. As a neophyte in the system I appreciated the set-up of two-shift classes for it is more convenient to parents and children. They said they can choose what time they are comfortable considering that parents also work, and school children can select the best learning style.

We all know that we have diverse learners. I believe that parents and children would prefer the schedule which suits best for their children. However, the time of attendance to classes may not matter to a child’s learning. I believe that the very essence of education is how knowledge and learning is transferred to the learner. So it is the responsibility, as well as the accountability of the person in authority inside the classroom to achieve this. The common goal of the Department of Education is to create a highly competent, civic spirited, life-skilled, and God-loving individual.

Benefits of silent reading

Teaching Strategies

By CATHERINE LOPENA ANCHEZ Teacher I Don Victoriano Central School

By Retchen O. Ranario Teacher I Imbatug Central Elementary

SILENT reading is a form of school-based recreational reading or free voluntary reading where students read silently in a designated time period every day in school. An underly ing assumpt ion of silent reading is that students learn to read by reading constantly. Successful models of silent reading typically allow students to select their own books and require neither testing for comprehension nor book reports. Schools have implemented silent reading under a variety of names such as Drop Ever ything and Read (DEAR), Free Uninterrupted Reading (FUR) or Uninterrupted Sustained Silent Reading (USSR). According to advocates, silent reading has

been shown to lead gains in several literacy domains. We look at large number of studies to see what conclusions were supported by empirical evidence. We find that in respect to reading comprehension, silent reading is successful. Fifty-one of 54 studies find that students in a silent reading program scored as well or better than other students this regard. It is most successful when used for longer periods of time. Furthermore, silent reading is shown to create a reading habit. Several years after participating in a program, students reported more reading. One study found out that a single silent reading session is enough to change attitudes about reading.

SCHOOLS across the nation are now responding to political, economic, social and technological pressures to be more responsive to students’ needs and more concerned about how well students are prepared to assume future societal roles. Faculty are already feeling the pressure to lecture less, to make learning environments more interactive, to integrate technology into the learning experience and to use collaborative learning strategies when appropriate. For many years, the lecture method was the most widely used instructional strategy in classrooms. Nearly 80 percent of all Philippine classrooms in the late 1970s reported using some form of the lecture method to teach students.

Although the usefulness of other teaching strategies is being widely examined today, lecture still remains an important way to communicate information. Used in conjunction with active learning teaching strategies, the traditional lecture can be an effective way to achieve instructional goals. The advantages of the lecture approach are that it provides a way to communicate a large amount of information to many listeners, maximizes instructor control and is non-threatening to students. Fit the lecture to the audience. Focus your topic – remember you cannot cover everything in one lecture. Prepare an outline that includes five to nine major points you want to cover in one lecture.

Journalizing By FEMA P. UY ADA VI DepEd Division of Lanao del Norte

JOURNALIZING is the process of recording a business transaction in the accounting records. This activity only applies to the double-entry bookkeeping system. The steps involved in journalizing are as follows: Examine each business transaction to determine the nature of the transaction. Determine which accounts will be affected. This calls for the identification of the general ledger accounts that will be altered as a result of the transaction. Prepare a journal entry. This involves not just entering the transaction in the accounting system but also documenting it sufficiently so that someone reviewing the entry later will understand why it

was created. Ideally, the entry should note the impacted accounts, the debits and credits entered, a journal entry number and a narrative comment. Journalizing can result in entries to the general ledger or to subsidiary legers. An entry is made to a subsidiary ledger when it involves a highvolume transaction that management has decided to summarize separately from the general ledger. An accounting journal entry is the method used to enter an accounting transaction into the accounting records of a business. The accounting records are aggregated into the general ledger or the journal entries may be recorded in a variety of sub-ledgers.

in the movies. A few months ago, the City Investments and Promotions Office has released a report detailing the status of various infra projects undertaken by City Hall to decongest traffic downtown through simultaneous road expansions from all directions. Poe said she is willing to inject the funds needed for the completion of some of these projects on time. City Mayor Oscar Moreno, who is also a member of the Philippine Eagles appeared delighted over Poe’s announcement of support. Another senator, Sherwin T. Gatchalian, complained that he was having headaches upon arrival at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel on the same day for a separate convention, involving rural electric cooperatives while traversing in between meetings. “Masyadong masakit ang ulo ko. Ang traffic pala dito,” Mr. Gatchalian said. In October, city investments and promotions officer Eileen E. San Juan counted more than a dozen roads and bridges both under construction and in the timeline. They are located from the coastal front, uptown and in the eastern and western gateways of the city.
